Alright guys, so I got rid of my HTC One M7 and got a iPhone 5s because I'm a tech nerd and can't have the same phone for very long. That was a few months ago and now looking at switching back to Android for a bit.
Question is, guy wants to trade his Note 3 for my 5s. I'm still not sold on the Note 3 because I've never had touchwiz, nor am I completely sold on the screen size, however I could get used to it. Would it be a good trade or should I just wait/sell my 5s and buy the S5/M8/Note 4 (when it releases)? I've only played with the note 3 a few times but it is pretty dang nice.
Completely worth the trade. In fact he should pay you as well.
Galaxy Note 3
Any android > Apple product...
I have Note 3 and right now wouldnt have anything else. I'd venture to say number one problem people have with Note 3 is size... I can definitely tell you a iPhone is toy sized compared to Note.

That's the thing. Biggest phone I had was the HTC Droid DNA which was 5 inches and I loved it. The screen on the Note 3 is pretty damn big haha, but when I messed with my buds today it was nice to have everything pop up and hit you in your face.
I like the 5s for what it is, a great camera haha. Main reason I got rid of my M7 One was because of the crappy camera and I figured I'd give the 5s a try. It isn't terrible but I won't consider another iPhone until they make a bigger one and fix some things.

I work with spreadsheets and office docs a LOT... Let me tell you, at the end of the day my eyes are thanking this large screen lol! It definitely is life sized proportion. Definitely still one of the top 5 devices out right now. For screen size battery life is still in the "excellent" category. When I got it battery life I was more an apprehensive about, but certain exceeded my expectations. I'm rooted, so installed a sound hack but out of the box I found volume to quite low but I'm old deaf haha

Me and my wife both upgraded devices from GS3's. I got the N3 she got the 5s, both 32gb. I love my phone she hates the 5s. Heres a few comparisons.
*Even when I dont have my ZeroLemon battery I go almost 2 days before charging, shes usually charging through out the day.
*Taking pictures/videos of our kids she uses my phone if I'm around, N3 is way sharper on the camera.
*We tend to throw alot of apks, pictures, movies etc on our phones with our kids. Way easier to do just swapping microSD cards out then transferring through the cable.
*I don't know if its our area or what, but I get alot better/stronger/faster signal on both 3G and 4G for some reason than her 5s.
*She thinks its still a little big for her, but she's 5'1 I'm 6ft and have a ZeroLemon and I have no problems with it.
*Facetime, the main reason she got it, it is alot clearer than Skype I'll give them that, but once again way nicer on the big screen.
*Multiple devices- I also have an Asus tablet and my sons Nabi 2. I can sync apk data to other devices, or if I'm browsing the market sign in under his google account and download apks OTA for him. I don't have any other Apple products in my house so I'm not sure if you can do that too with an iPhone.
Those are just some of the comparisons between my wifes 5s, and my N3. We're both on the Edge plans Im probably going to keep my N3 this year because I love it, my wife has already said she wants to maybe get a N4 or GS5, she'll never go back unless Apple really steps there game up.
Agreed on getting two days of usage out of a full charge. Two nights of idle, about 2 hrs talk and about a little more than 3 hrs on screen time

That's true but Id be without a phone for a bit lol. I could sell the 5s for like 600-650 with all of the cases.
I guess that would pay for an M8 or S5.

You can buy the phone first then sell it. As long as the 5s is in pretty good condition, I'm pretty sure it'll sell easily.
Not a good trade at all unless he's adding cash. The 5S sells for a lot more, is more in demand, and retains its value longer. You could easily sell it since its unlocked. Just find a guy who will pay you top dollar and if you want a note so bad, find one on your local craigslist for 350. You just maximized your cash and would have at least 200 dollars left over..

Don't be a fanboy. An iPhone 4s after 2 years is still worth about $100 with a trade-in program compared to a GNex that was worth about $25.
Numbers don't mean anything.
I had a note 3 originally then traded it for a 5s and I couldn't stand the 5s just because of the small screen and it was to simplistic for me now Idk about around you but the iphone 5s around me is selling for around 400-475 on craigslist and the note 3 is 450-500 so it's really an even trade depending on what you're looking for

I have contacted 15 separate people on eBay with buy it nows available, only for them to tell me they have already setup a purchase of an iPhone 4 or already have an iPhone 4 and prefer it to the sgs2 so are not interested in my iPhone obviously...
Starting to get concerned perhaps the sgs2 is not as good as I am thinking, would it be for me
Maybe they don't want to trade an SG2 for an iPhone 4 because the SG2 is a better phone and they'd be getting robbed.
Seriously, the iPhone 4 is nearly a year old and the hardware is inferior to the SG2. You'd have to be stupid to trade straight across for an iPhone 4.
Price is also a factor. You can buy a brand new iPhone 4 for $600 unlocked. An SG2 is $700.
if you are stuck in stubborn ios mode, then no android phone would be right for you. thats probably why there are some ppl that wouldn't give up their iphone for anything. thats what it comes down to, youre comparing apples with oranges. on the hardware side, its a dead given which phone is better.
sell it i just sell mine yesterday with best offer for 535$ and buy the galaxy s2
Maybe you should sell the iPhone for cash and buy a new Galaxy S2?
Thats what I did, I've even made $50 for doing that.
I just sold my iphone 4 on ebay for $625 Australian, the one is 2-3 months old. Apple hold there price well. Wonder what a 1 month old gs2 would go for?

Unless you are some apple fanboy, or have some liking to apple's offerings, or you just got some fault sgs 2, then why the hell would you trade a sgs 2 for an iphone, when the sgs 2 is practically 2x the specs.

thats because the market isn't flooded with so many different ios devices like android is.
The reason why them retailers prefer iPhone to SGS2 currently because they have huge unsold stock of iPhones needing to be cleared in view of iPhone 5. So they will try to push it to you, while SGS2 might just reach a state of short supply soon.
Pretty standard selling practice. I had someone recommend me SGS instead of the SGS2 "because its better", right...
When htc was produced good handsets I loved them and always bought htc but unfortunately I then discovered Samsung .
I have a note 2 which is awesome . Battery is fantastic and the screen is excellent but I've seen a few reviews on you tube for the htc one and am so tempted but I don't know if it will be a bad decision.
Will the one hand anything my note 2 won't ?
I love the 5.5" display on my note but am ok about going down 0.8" as we all know size isn't important
I can get £250 recycle for my note 2 which means I lose just over the same amount as ive had my note 2 since launch. I can get a payg on three for £475 and the launch models are usually unlocked and unbranded or £520 off amazon but don't know if it's with the extra dosh.
Oh help me please my wife thinks I'm daft wanting the latest thing but the htc one looks awesome I just don't want to regret the decision if I get one
Thanks

I'm in the same boat as you and I'm strongly considering the One. But I'll wait for user experience first before deciding on getting one. I suggest you do the same since all the questions we have about the device will be answered then. If battery life is acceptable and there's no problems with the device I'll get it for sure. It's definitely the sexiest phone I have ever seen

My wife is lucky lol my only vice is technology I love samsung but hate the way they push out updates . I am debating the note 3 but it will be too big and the s4 is made of plastic.
I might wait for a month or so to see what the htc one is like in the flesh but want it now cos its so god damn sexy.
Oh what do I do . Im hoping my local p4u store has a display so I can look at it and then decide. The only thing stopping me is the fear of a poor battery like the one x and one x plus
I usually buy straight away but my little gremlins are telling me to wait a while

Its at least about 4 other threads with Note 2 users..
im a note 2 users as well and im bored and want the latest and greatest.. but i suggest just wait to see what Samsung announces next week.
HTC done the same thing last year and Samsung ended up topping them. so we would have to see what happens this time, its just best to wait for a few more days.. you'll still have time to sell your note 2 regardless since the HTC One doesn't release till the 22nd people are saying.
im getting the HTC One but i am not selling my Note 2 for it.. not worth it.. no matter how old it is.. might consider selling it for the Galaxy S4 or Note 3
I'm in the same position. I could hold on to my Note 2 and get the One on upgrade in a couple of months, sell the note 2 for about €450 and cover the extra €150 to buy the one on release then save my upgrade for later.
Regarding the Samsung updates, my girlfriends Vodafone branded SGS3 updated to JB ages ago. I got sick of waiting for my Vodafone branded one x to update to JB so I just sold it.

My last phone was a note 2 and I sold it in order to get the xperia z initially but now I am getting the One.
Btw mancuk29, why not sell your note 2 instead of recycling. You can get more than 250 for selling it.
The Note II is practically flawless, so don't jump for the One's looks and HW just yet, wait for the first few weeks of user feedback to see it's issues. I'd only switch for practical reasons say you want a smaller phone, don't care about the sylus, plastic is falling apart etc., but do not jump for style over substance reasons, make sure you'd be better off with the One and the investment it worth it. There are few perfect devices on the market, the Note II is one of them.

I had thought of selling it , they are going for around £350 on ebay but then there is 15% ebay fee to consider and then 10% paypal which works out at £87.50 so I would make £12 more . Im lining ebays and paypals pockets .
I might hold off till june / july so any issues are sorted or any complaints come out .
The problem is that if I see the one ill buy it so need to steer clear of phone shops for a few months !!!

I only use gumtree to sell products, as I heard about ebays selling fees. I fetched 390 for my note 2 on February 1st.
Might put it on gumtree . The only thing which is slowing down my impulses is the battery as I've been spoilt with the note 2 and get a day and bit out of my note 2

I 'm sure after getting hands on real device you love it more than N2 and P4u update their recent review in which they mention that battery life is really good but I personally think N2' battery life is bit better but more or less H one's bettery life will not be disappointing, you have to compare and choose between three major factor large vs 4.7 screen , plastic vs metallic body, standard audio/video vs better audio/video shooting

Guys, i agree the htc one is very beautiful, all metal and all, but seriously how many of us carry their mobiles without a case/cover? If i were u, and the size and weight of note 2 were not an issue for me, i dont think i would have let go of the n2 for one. N2 screen does look amazing. For me its just too big.
I love the one, specially the looks, but i guess i will keep my hox for atleast a few months, till proper user feedbacks and comparisons with hox are available. Again, i have kept my hox protected in a cover since day one, and it has helped tremendously in surviving a few falls.

I wish I bought all my phones from you (the OP). £250 for a Note 2 is a bargain.
I personally think you'll be in for a shock when you see how much smaller the screen is. I think the drop in battery life will put you off too.
But at the rate you buy phones it's not a problem I suppose. If you decide you don't like it you can always upgrade to the Note 3 when it's out.

You'll pick-up:
A brighter, higher res display (LCD = more realistic colors and less contrast [greyer blacks])
HTC's new camera approach (4MP vs. 8MP on the Note and 13MP on new high-end phones)
Zoe to capture and manipulate images in a new way
Dual amplified front facing speakers
BlinkFeed to view news and social sources on the lock screen
A more premium feeling device made from metal vs. plastic
A faster SoC/GPU
An IR port to control your media devices
Sense which has a more modern and integrated "feel" than TW
You'll lose:
S Note, S Pen, airview, multiview
A 5.5" SAMOLED (more vivid colors, better outdoor visibility, blacks=black) display and return to a 4.7" display that was last year's standard
Some app compatibility until developers modify their programs to support 1080P displays
All the non-S Pen related TW features like motion and voice controls and Smart Stay/Rotation
A huge swappable battery
Cheap expandable and swappable storage up to 80GB
The ability to update to the latest official ROMs using Odin without voiding your warranty
Wireless charging (if you're even using it)
AVRCP 1.3 to show title/track/artist when using A2DP and possibly the ability to direct dial calls via BT (you still couldn't in Sense 4+)
For people that bought the N2 without planning to use its expanded features it was probably not the greatest choice in the first place. I replaced my Teg3 One X with it solely for those additional features. Otherwise, a 5.5" phone is a pain in the ass to use. If people bought it for the larger display then, unless they've changed their mind, the One and SGS4 aren't really equivalent. Since you didn't mention features and did mention you don't care about a smaller display than any of the "newer and shinier" devices coming out will fit the bill. And at 12" away you won't notice the difference between 1080P and 720P because the human eye with 20/20 vision can't resolve the additional detail at that distance and beyond no matter how much everyone swears they see a difference.

Very true. I had a look at the Sony Xperia Z in a shop and could not tell the difference in sharpness between it and any other 720p phone in the shop. My eye sight is very good too.
I think the One is the Most promissing htc phone ever.... I just Sold my Note 2 a week ago And now im Using an oooold Nokia Till my One is shipping .... I Love Sense
I'm still on the fence on picking this or the HTC One. So what was the selling point of the S4 to you that made you leave your HTC device behind? I seem to change my mind once a day. I had both phones at one point in my cart ready to pull the trigger but just can't decide.
I had the HTC One, got it on release, I returned it and got the SGS4 and am sooooo glad I did. I don't know if I had a dud or what but I wasn't getting strong LTE Signals with the One that I had with my SGS3, got the 4 and I have ZERO issues! Also, the no removable battery and no sd slot really bothered me with The One.
I'm coming from the 3vo and after 4 HTC devices in a row, it was time to make the switch to a phone which will get timely OS and "fix" updates as well as immediate source code drops.....something HTC has never done. I also wanted removable storage and battery.

I was on the fence for a while as well. It seems like to me the most important difference is the speaker on the One. Either way both phones are amazing. I don't think there is a wrong choice.
I came from an EVO 4G LTE. I really wanted to get the One when it was first announced, but when I played with one in the store, it felt too similar to my EVO (size, screen size).
I've never had a non-HTC Android device and thought it would be refreshing to try Samsung out for the next year or so.

I don't think the HTC is amazing. Too many sacrifices made for the aluminum. Such as weight, size, slimness, and lack of 5" screen even though it's the larger phone. It might find a small niche group of fans but it's not as premium as the iphone so you're getting the best of nothing.
Been a long time HTC person (started with my mogul), but my EVO LTE wouldn't get 4G at my house while other phones did.
Got the S4 and now I have 4G at home.
As you can tell I have an HTC one. I have had all HTC phones for as long as I can remember, well except for the Palm Pre. I have a Samsung Note 10.1 that I would never give up, I say that because I am not brand loyal.
Here is my take original Evo great phone Samsung couldn't touch it. Evo 3d underwhelming to me probably could have gone with Samsung whatever it was that year and been happier. Evo LTE vs S3 chose the evo for no real reason other than well all my other phones were HTC.
Now HTC one vs S4. Screen size 4.7 vs 5 to me no real difference. OLED vs lcd to my eyes Lcd just looks more realistic. I am an avid photographer and I can't stand the OLED colors. I know this can be adjusted to some degree but I still prefer Lcd. Cameras as I said I am a photographer and if there is a chance I am going to take a picture I will have a real camera with me. For the occasional Facebook photo or kid photo either does fine. Build quality polycarbonate vs aluminum, I think the aluminum looks nicer. I don't put cases on my phones so the way it looks is the way it looks.
Functionally the s4 has a lot of cool gimmicks but none of which to me have practical application. Software I will be rooting and installing custom roms on either device so it is not that important.
I chose the one purely on look and feel in my hand. I think either one is really a great phone and you can't go wrong with either.

I think this was said just about perfectly. I am in the same situation as you. I have been with HTC since the windows mobile vogue (touch) and have had all the evo's starting with the original. My only brief time without an htc android device was the samsung moment. That experience alone weighed heavily on whether I would ever buy another samsung product. It was complete garbage.
I debated hard on which to choose between the One and the S4. I currently use the evo 4g lte but decided to go with the s4 this time. I like how light the s3 is compared to the evo. I wear a suit to work most days and refuse to use a holster. The Evo lte seems a bit heavy. I love the look and feel of the One but will end up putting it in a case so that makes it almost moot.
A few other deciding factors were the sd card, removable battery and (believe it or not) the location of the power button. That always bothered me with htc phones. I'm still waiting for my costco preordered s4 to arrive. I'm expecting to thoroughly enjoy it but if I don't, I'll exchange it for the One.
We'll see.
I came from an htc evo and evo 3d. So I partially just wanted to try something new but here are the other reasons that I chose the S4:
Removable battery(I usually have a phone for 2 years and I had to replace the battery in my evo 3d after about a year and a half)
Fast wall charger
GG3(never use screen protectors and have never had a scratch on any of my phones)
Larger Battery

I currently have a EvoLTE but after playing with both the One and S4 I decided on the S4. Plus before the S4 even came out in the states it already had a great selection of cases which in my opinion the EvoLTE never had.

I'm coming from the 3vo and after 4 HTC devices in a row, it was time to make the switch to a phone which will get timely OS and "fix" updates as well as immediate source code drops.....something HTC has never done. I also wanted removable storage and battery.

I am also a deserter of HTC after 10 years if dedication and countless phones I am jumping ship due to the inability for HTC to ever release a single source code NOR ever a timely update. I am hoping my decision to switch will be concrete before the 14 day return period. Currently I am in a battle with sprint over their 90 day sim unlock policy that I feel is unfair to consumers. The biggest reason I left is due to the lack of a removable battery and no micro sd expansion on the one.

I was in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area yesterday and picked mine up at the local store. When I called on a whim expecting them to say it was not available in the stores for another couple weeks boy was I surprised when they told me they had both the white and black in stock. Any who's that's how I got my black mist one.
Well, I decided to go with the HTC One. It came down to price ([email protected] plus $20 gift card) and a few other things but most importantly price. I won't wish this forum good bye yet since I have 14 days to see if I regret my decision, if not I wish you guys the best and although we're not phone brothers we an be Android cousins at the very least.
For those that have a problem with OLED colors being over saturated, you can set the screen to movie mode to dial it down a little. I forgot where I read the article, but if you Google it you might be able to find it. A display firm compared the S4 to the iPhone 5 and said that in movie mode, the color representation was on part with the iPhone.

You too man! I'll have mine shortly after you. I'm gonna hold off just a bit til a better price appears somewhere. Whether it be Best Buy, radio Shack, Amazon, or even Sprint itself.....someone will have will have it for $199 before June. Seeing some great devs posting in here. Thinking the dev community here as well as the phone itself will be phenomenal.

I went to my sprint store to get the phone. The sales rep apparently REALLY needed to sell some accessories so he dropped the price of the phone to $199 and sold me the charger and extra battery for my wife's note 2 for $50.
Apparently the reps at corporate stores have the ability to lower the price if they really want to.
I've been using HTC phones for almost 10 years, started with Windows Mobile phones. Sadly I think HTC has lost their way a little bit.
No removable battery, no SD card, and this version of Sense is a trainwreck. I loved my Evo LTE but the battery was a killer just couldn't make it work.
I'm adjusting to Samsung, so far I love the ability to easily root. The hardware is nice but not as polished as the HTC phones. Basically I chose the SUV over the sports car this time.

+1. I chose the S4 because HTC is going the "IPhone" route as I call it with the non removable battery and no sd card. I am adjusting to the Samsung phone as well but so far so good and the battery is INSANE! I watched a 30 minute video on YouTube and lost 2% on the battery.
Even though my N5X is coming tomorrow, I'm kind of missing my N6. I almost regret getting rid of it many moons ago for a less than ideal Samsung device and now that I'm back on the Nexus bandwagon, I'm seriously contemplating if I made the right move with the 5X over the 6. Camera is probably better on the 5X though and the Nexus Imprint could become a big deal in the future.
i only recently bought the Nexus 6 and i even am using it with a screen defect man, line appears on Material Grays and i still cant imagine moving away from this Beast.
i fell in love with this phone the day i got it, if my issues with the Screen get worse ,in which i hope it will get better than worse.
i would even buy another Nexus 6 so um to move from this Nexy to the 5x is kind of a downgrade if you ask me..
unless you like smaller phones? i think the nearly 6" of the Nexus 6 is the perfect size for me. but you might prefer something smaller .
i would say Nexus 6p would have been a small upgrade over your Nexus 6.
but you will love the 5x too man i mean its a Nexus
It does appear the only compelling reason to upgrade to either the 5X or 6P from the 6 is the cameras. We will certainly know more once the devices ship and more people have them in hand. It sounds to me like youll be happy with your move from a Samsung device back to Nexus, even if not the N6
I'm always gonna keep this phone till they make a second version of it with upgraded specs and bigger battery. Size and beauty is the best on the market for me
I may miss this upgrade cycle and it truly has nothing to do with the 6p....I am just very happy with the 6 and considering how many phones I have gone through this speaks volumes about the 6.
I personally think that, if you are thinking you'll miss it before your N5X has even arrived, you'll be back. Before I got my N6 I was in a love/hate relationship with the note 3. I went through 4 of them since it was released. Selling and buying a different one months later. I won't be going back now, but I see a N6 in your future

So true, I look at my N5 now and think man its small, cannot believe I was using that. N6 size is Perfect, They should have made the 6P same size screen, its just a tad smaller but hey.........
Google realized that N6 users had fallen in love, and that more & more were finally jumping on the bandwagon

Well, I have a N6, and its too freakin big. Going to stick with it for another year though, hoping for something on the small end of 5" with an SD820.
Had the N6 for several months when I first switched over to T-Mobile ... Then decided to use a Jump upgrade to get a G4. Enjoyed it but soon started to miss the N6. Got the Moto X Pure Edition (2015) thinking it's basically a N6 with moto features. Love it and all, but couldn't resist all the eBay deals for the N6 and decided to grab one as my "tinkering device". Well, since I got the N6 my SIM card has never see the inside of the MXPE again LOL. There's just something about the N6 ?

I sold my nexus 6 to buy a galaxy s6 about three weeks ago.
I literally just bought another nexus 6, and I'll be giving my s6 to my girlfriend. I really do miss that phone.

I have big hands....N6 now looks like a N5 in my palm..I do most functions with one hand
I love everything about this phone except the camera. I was spoiled by a G4. Thinking I may get the V10 next, because I loved the G4's camera.... I got the n6 for PFI, but because of all the problems I had with sprint, I just grabbed a tmobile sim and called it a day.

Blasphemy. Lol
Gotta do what's best for you.
I freaking love the N6
Too bad Google didnt go with the N6p again with motorola. I Ireally like the small bezels and curved back of motorola. Also, pleasantly surprised with the audio quality and dual speakers and camera.
So far, I have been impressed by motorola phones and would get a Motorola as my next phone. Dont know though why these OEMs stick with 5.7 coll phones.
I also had the chance to feel and use a Motorola G phone when it came out, also liked the curved back.
Moto X style, Note 5, Nexus 6p, all have 5.7 coll displays, which to me is just stupid.
I have an n6 on the way. Had a galaxy nexus, and a nexus 5, and have jumped around on so many phones in between (htc, Samsung, OP). Looking forward to going back to a nexus device. I was going to get the 6p, but I never pay full price for devices.
Right at this moment there is no better thing to do than buy the old N6. At below 300 $ you get much more value for money than on any current model. I bought mine some six weeks ago for 300 € and I am absolutely over the moon with it.
Best phone I had hands down. BUT 6P coming next week for me. I'll keep it as a back up for few weeks. I'm sure I'll fall in love with 6P though.

I got the n6, 2 Qi wireless charging bases, the oem fast charger/USB cable, and a car charger for $280 on Swappa. Couldn't complain too much. Just waiting for it to show up.
Now I'm trying to decide whether to sell my AT&T s6, or my OP2. I generally only keep two phones at a time.
No way I could use the new nexus 5 after using the nexus 6 it's way to small I like big phones and have 2 xperia ultra's that I also use

I was trying to sell one pixel 2 xl on swappa and the prices are going crazy low. How are all these people selling new 128 GB for just $700ish range ? The phone isn't really that old yet.
Verizon's running a $300 off on it.
I'm noticing the same thing. I considered selling my 2 XL and picking up a OnePlus 5T. When I took a look at pricing on SWAPPA I was very surprised to see the current prices people are selling the phone for. Previously, the Nexus/Pixel line-up held their value much better than what I'm seeing with the current 2 XL. It's sad but I think it can be chalked up to all the bad publicity this phone keeps receiving. Talk of these issues is seemingly more widespread than I thought.
For instance, on Christmas day a family member was checking out my phone and even though he is not a tech guy by any means, even he brought up the screen burn-in issues as well as the speaker buzzing noise issues. It threw me off, to be honest. Especially considering that this is a guy who never researches phones and has stuck with the Galaxy phone line-up simply because I recommended it to him like 3 years ago.
There is a reason why both Google and the carriers have already dropped the price. It sucks and it's directly affecting resale value.
On the plus side, I've experienced no issues with my device and it's the best phone I've ever owned. So this is just a good nudge for me to hold onto it and enjoy it longer, rather than making a jump to something else and inevitably regretting it.
Add to this, the starting prices were up there with the iPhone X and Samsung Note 8! Previously Nexus phones were a good bit cheaper than the highest premium phones...this is why they were able to hold value longer.
True. Personally, I don't consider Verizon to be a viable option because it is locked down. It equates to a regular Samsung phone at this point that is locked, but that is not what everyone thinks.
What really gets me is the price. Google did not do any price drops, they just did the holiday specials which was like 50 or 75 bucks.
But on swappa some people are selling the 128 for about 700 bucks. I don't know how they're getting the phones so cheap to sell them for that price. I hope the phone doesn't end up being like the essential phone what the pricing

Touchwiz on a Sammy device is not quite the same as having a Google device, whether or not you bl unlock, but that's just me. Anyway, they are selling for closer to $800 new or mint. On the Google store you can get a brand new one for about $875. But perhaps you are forgetting about the trade in too. I can trade in my old Pixel and get another $300+ off that price. So I really don't think it has lost as much value as you suspect. And as for the Verizon branded one I paid $350 on BF (Pixel XL) with no trade in. If I sold it for $650 and used my old Pixel for another year I just netted close to 3 hundred. Personally, I think we're doing ok so far. Let's see in 6 months, however.

True. I am hoping it doesn't plunge down..I just think the google one should and would hold the price against the Verizon one. It's like in the old days, Verizon and att phones had lower prices used than the T-Mobile ones because of the unlocked bl stuff.
Maybe I am just mad that since the pixel XL last year held up the price value well for a few months and didn't really drop dramatically except when the pixel 2 s were announced.

As for last year you really can't compare, unfortunately. Google didn't give 5 cents off the Pixel or the XL even on black Friday. Verizon had one day, and that was BF, that they gave a tremendous deal of $10 / month and $15 for the XL for 24 months. That was it! Eventually they had a lame trade in deal but nothing from Google. This year is way different. There is really no reason to be spending more than 4 or 5 hundred for any of the devices with trade in at Google and VZW. I mean I believe that VZW even has a $300 off with no trade in! But then you're locked into them for 2 years and no bl unlock. So I believe that the price will not drop past the 6 or 7 number for some time. But I've been wrong once or twice..

Touchwiz has come a long way imo. The note 8 is a beast and it runs touchwiz, it junk back on like S3 & S4 but now it is great!
Also the pixel has $300+ off but I got $425 off my note 8 and had it the day it was released thanks to a preorder! I think I was like $570 ish for the note 8 out the door and shipped so the $300 off for the pixel seems quite small now! Let's see what it is in 6 months glad I sent my first few pixels back and got the newer $75 off savings!

I've gotta agree with this. I was pleasantly surprised with the Touchwiz UI on my Galaxy S8. It never stuttered or lagged and was just as fast as my previous Pixel XL and current Pixel 2 XL. Touchwiz really has come a long way. The same cannot be said for the LG V30, however. LG's skin on that phone is absolutely horrible. It lags/stutters/hangs constantly and no matter how many LG apps you disable, it doesn't fix it.
If LG would have just refrained from touching the OS on that phone and left it with stock Android, I never would have bought my 2 XL to begin with. Such a sad let down. The V30 is just collecting dust on my office shelf. I need to take it back to T-Mobile but I keep forgetting about it.

I'd agree with this as well. My last Samsung device was the GS7 Edge and I was quite impressed. The performance was great and while not quite as fluid as the Pixel, was very consistent and stable, never slowing down over time. I think Samsung's kitchen sink approach from years past has paid off in the sense that the software additions they've kept are generally pretty useful and thoughtful additions not available in the pure Android experience.

Yeah you should try the s8 or note 8. They are extremely fluid compared to the pixel not quite as fluid but very very close. Also the extra ram in note is helpful especially with the kitchen sink approach

Eh, I'd prefer to turn the V30 in for nothing in return but then I'd lose my JUMP On-Demand. So I'll probably just trade the V30 in on a super cheap $5/month phone to have as a back-up, just in case.
