I've been searching all day but can't find any MJ7 Roms that's are still supported. Anyone have any ideas? I'm trying to keep my wires tether because I use it as my hotspot at home with the unlimited plan I've had for 7 years. I apologize if this is an ignorant question, I've been away from the community for 3 or 4 months with a new job, place to live and a new kid on the way....
My thanks and apologies
AFAIK, everything is MJE. You still can tether in an MJE rom.

Does anyone know if the Moto xoom will be flashable to boost mobile or metro or cricket like how the samsung tab is
Great question. I don't know the answer but the question is can any Verizon 3G work on Sprint/Metro(same company). You don't want Cricket. My quick look makes me think the odd's aren't great. But I think the EVO was fully ported to MetroPCS.. so maybe.
I don't think a verizon phone can work on sprint and vice versa. If metro works on sprints networks then a sprint phone could be flashed to work on it. It has to do with the wireless technology in the device. Plus, even if it was the same, I doubt sprint would activate it.
Sent from my EVO using XDA App
I doubt it honestly
My research showed that in some markets Metro has a program in place for reprogramming Sprint and Verizon phones for use on their network. However, I suspect they won't do it for a product like the XOOM.
I hope that someone figures it out. I am partially hopeful, I just bought a 11,000mAh battery for my EVO so that I can tether for hours at a time. Testing it right now with everything turned on, streaming tversity video to the phone for hours and barely drained the external 30%.
I'm honestly fairly ignorant on the matter so if I sound stupid give me a pass..
But..
If the hardware could do it, isn't it 'just' a matter of which 'radio firmware' is being used? (with regards to porting to a different carrier)
Motorola Xoom
Hey everyone, hows it going. First I would like to thank everyone here for all your hard work on these new android devices and helping people like me figure out problems to how to get these devices working.
I just got back from the store where I picked up the new motorola xoom. I've noticed that its on verizons service, but would like to know if anyone can point me to the proper direction as to how I can get this device working on crickets network.
I have a droid x, droid 3 all working on cricket data, mms and all working. next task is to get this xoom working on crickets data... any idea's as to where I can start off...
I'm not finding any informaiton about this device at all for flashing. I found someone who claims that they can root there xoom, ... its a start, but not really wanting to do that without consulting the professionals first.
please note that this is not my first go around with custom roms or rooted gingerbread roms. also please note that I'm aware this rom is the hunnycomb rom.
any help is much appreciated .... sorry about the spelling and thanks for all your help in advanced.

If by the new Xoom you mean the XYboard, it is not yet rootable. The original Xoom is rootable and has a number of awesome roms and overclocking kernels. Take a look around the forum and you will see many wonderful things. I'm sorry that I can't help you with getting your Xoom to run on the cricket network...

Well, don't tell me you don't have any experience with reportable awesome rooms...
Autocorrect is my friend.

I must have the original then, I just got finished rooting the xoom. I do have a Sim slot that has a clear card in in, just in front of the microSD slot that says "replace with 4G card after system update"
So seeing as how I got this tablet rooted.... lets see if I can get it working with data, .... any help is appreciated
Hi all! I'm new to the forum and a noob at rooting. I've rooted my EVO, installed the eternal prophecy rom and its beautiful. My wife also has the EVO but she has decided not to root. We are currently paying for the hotspot feature for one phone only (hers). Which leads to my question. Now that I'm rooted, I want to turn on the hotspot but I'm afraid that it will start charging me for hotspot as well.
Am I looking at this correctly or should I be at ease with clicking that hotspot button (with the sphere around it) without the fear of sprint charging me? How do I test my rooted EVO hotspot to make sure its working and I'm not getting charged?
My wife is already upset that I rooted (and she's more a techy than I am). I would hate to have to explain to her that we are now paying for 2 mobile hotspots when root is supposed to eliminate this). Any help would be greatly appreciated....
Forgive me for asking a question that I'm sure that has been addressed her many times lately.
I woke up this morning to my GN3 on Verizon telling me it wants to do the KitKat update. It's stock right now, but my concern is that I'm still on the unlimited data and don't want to lose the ability to run FoxFi and get a hotspot without paying the extra $30 a month.
If I update to KitKat, will I be able to root and will I be able to continue getting the use of the hotspot feature without paying the additional fee?
Thanks.

as of now NC4 does not have a root method but NC2 does. So you could root your phone on 4.3 then install a prerooted NC2 and be good
Foxfi website says that it works on the Galaxy Note 3 with Kit Kat.
For the love of God why would you?
KK first off isn't all that. But we have KK based ROMs already. Take the OTA and even if you can keep root, good luck on something as basic as having the light\torch in your notification drawer. Being able to go to all sorts of ROMs is freedom. Why give that up? And there is a thread about going to the NC4 modem even if you're on NC2 base so why not stay flexible??? ??? ???
I wouldn't do it purely for the loss of external write permissions. Pee poor of Google and an utterly false excuse of "security". Google has a high Apple wannabe complex.
There is a thread on the benefits of taking the leaked rom here, and for non-rooted OTA updated phones here. Thread closed
I've been trying to follow the workarounds for the AT&T S4 root access, but remain confused. There seem to be so many different ideas / methods to gain root access that I'm totally lost.
Today; the pooch may have really gotten screwed. My S4 finally forced the 1337UCUFNC1 FOTA onto my phone, despite my trying to block it.
So; bottom line is: Am I completely screwed with regard to ever being able to root my device? I'm know I'm going to get a ton of rude comments about "reading" and "searching" but there's so many different opinions that have be debunked that I can't keep it straight.
So, my question is: Is there a "tried and true" method to root it that's not going to either brick it or cause other unwanted effects that are worse than the cure? I don't really care about custom ROM's nor voiding my KNOX warranty. I just don't want to make a bad situation worse.
Reason being; I have to use Total Recall that provides two way recording without using the speaker and mic. It's the nature of my job. I can't afford to be without it. My Note 3 is a $700.00 paperweight after having to warranty it out. I can't afford for that to happen to my S4.
Is there anyone willing to provide some useful help without ostracizing me? I successfully rooted a Motorola Atrix HD, so it's not my first time; but much of what I've read so far has been confusing regarding the S4.
Thanks in advance!
Jim
Just use the one click towelroot as seen in the other threads. I'm also on NC1 and rooted last night. Works like a charm.

Oh; that's awesome news!
Thanks!
Unbelievable!!! It worked in minutes. Verified root access. Installed SU Pro and Busybox Pro.
Now; I want to get rid of some bloat! And, freeze any future updates from robbing me of my new found freedom!
Super Kudos to everyone! This is wonderful!
I can't wait to get home and try it on my Note 3! That would rock my face!
Thanks again! Donation coming this Friday on pay day!
what roms are best for tmobile 4.4.2 that have working IR capabilities and also, is there any s-pen issues with roms?
I just spent all night breaking into fort knox and i finally exterminated it. i didn't think i was ever going to get the custom recovery working. anyway, i haven't given much thought to roms yet because of my preoccupation with dealing with that pest so i'd appreciate any advice from any more experienced note 3 users.
thanks,

There is a dedicated question section.
IR works on all roms. Smart remote in the playstore also has a link screen widget. The pen works on all roms too, but you'll need to download 3rd party note apps if going to aosp
