[Q] Alarm clock on lock screen - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just got my wife the GS5 and she loves the phone except for one issue--the alarm clock does not display its next alarm on the lock screen. Is there a way to display the next scheduled alarm on the lock screen? Coming from a nexus, it was automatic and very useful.
Thanks

Hi All
Is there any solution or workaround for this issue?
Thanks.

It's presumptive and rather unreasonable to expect that some feature that happens to be a personal favourite should be on all phones.
There are many ways that you could add this to the S5. Zooper widgets, preferably in conjunction with Dynamic notifications would be one way.

It's also presumptive and rather unreasonable to advice without knowing...have you tried your advice? Could you make it work? If so, elaborate, please!

I heard that https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alarmclock.xtreme.free this app should be able to do what you want. But maybe it won't if it needs to display a widget, because lollipop doesn't support lockscreen widgets.

I've been using this very app (paid version) for years - unfortunately no, it cannot (S5 or Note 4).

Turn off Default SMS & Call Widget on Lock Screen

I do like the stock 4.3. Its much smoother compared to 4.2.1.
But what I don't like is the default SMS widget that shows up on the locks screen when we receive an SMS.
Same goes for Miss Calls.
The sms is displayed on the screen itself, so basically anybody could read the sms as it arrives (I dont like putting lock).
I know, there is a setting to disable sms display but that will turn off the displaying of the message on notification bar aswell.
So is there any way to turn off that widget ? I couldn't find any yet.
Infact, this whole lock screen widget thing is not so cool because, as per my experience, if I put widgets, the phone takes up a while (1-2 secs) to wake up.

if your on a rooted device, then probably you can freeze that widget using titanium backup or linksd. or on a unrooted phone you can also disable it. settings>apps
Could you point out which one to turn off ?

I've turned off most of the unusable apps. That reduced my ram usage to 800 mb now but didn't find any app to turn off for this thing.
Could you point out which app u r talking about ?

sorry I dont know which app/process it is because I don't own a Samsung device!
you must try to find it yourselves by just freezing apps/process related to lockscreen one after the other!
hmmm... what r u doing here at the first place?

Had the same question as thread opener. I'd prefer to use dashclock to handle this kind of things, non that Samsung stuff. And, at the same time, I'd like to keep text content readable on notification bar. Is this lock screen notification disposable somehow? I see nothing that could be related to it in settings

I took the other way to solve this one..
I have actually installed Textra sms client and I have kept the stock Messaging app aswell.
So, now on, the new sms is captured by Textra and displayed on status bar like before. And if I want, I can use stock sms to reply or read, but I prefer textra now. In case you prefer textra, u can actually turn off stock Messaging from App manager and permanently use Textra (or any other sms client) as a replacement.
Just install a 3rd party SMS app and disable notifications in stock app.
Donnt be bothered about RAM when using a powerhouse such as Note 2

I managed to obtain what I needed with rom toolbox pro using its auto run manager function. Make system apps visible, than look for a package named com.sec.android.app.keyguard and disable the first receiver, whose lengthy name ends with "missed widget provider". No more notifications on lock screen taking the place of my widgets (namely dashclock)!
Hope this helps, fell free to ask for clarifications if needed. No side effects noted until now, but I seldom receive text messages since WhatsApp has been invented, so it hasn't been tested much. Cheers!

it's more simple now
Search : Disable Samsung Notification Widget APK* on google, then click on the first link.
It's a mod for xposed installer, for rooted device. This mod remove totally the new message widget and missed call widget of the lockscreen.
Here is that xposed module

I need them badly and don't want to download the whole firmware for just 2 files.

REQUEST - Customizable Stock Lockscreen

Hello fellow G2-Users,
One thing that bothers me with this great phone is the lack to customize the stock lockscreen. For example display calendar and weather, changing the clock etc. I know there is WidgetLocker and other apps but i want to keep the great unlocking animation from the stock lockscreen and of course knockoff from lockscreen.
Who else wants this?
Who can make this possible?
THX

I'm using a PIN code for security, so that changes things a bit. On that version of the lock screen, you can swipe from the left and add widgets. Stock lockscreen.

Thx for your suggestion!! iam aware of that and it is also avaible without PIN security. But i want to see my next appointment and weather on the main lockscreen and change the (ugly) stock clock.
Try "Android Weather" app. It has the features you mention, you can make the widget transparent if you want, and it can be added to the lockscreen.

After the first week or so with lockscreen widgets on other phones, I found them useless. They were limited in information and functionality... and honestly, my muscle memory was to pickup my phone and unlock it. Then if they magnified to the full screen, the area to swipe to unlock got small... I just think for me, they were a waste. Once I am 2 or 3 swipes, or touches in, I can unlock it just as fast.
I hope someone figures out how to add them back. I have an ICE app that I need to have a lock screen widget for.
I always used the message g widget, always quicker than unlocking and going into the messaging app, I also used the app shortcut widget that u swipes to the right for, especially after getting spoiled using cover lockscreen, which I uninstalled due to too many bugs

The same for me. Please, help us!
I know that with root, I can use Xposed framework and download galaxy s5 widget to do it... but what about Note4 without root ?
(P.S. I'm sorry for my English...)
Ice contact lock screen
You can add your ICE contact (phone number etc.) to lockscreen by writing it in to the "owner information" -field, which can be found under lockscreen settings. No need for ICE-app.

[DISCUSS]TW Changes - List them here.

Coming from an S5, Note 4 or other very recent TW device.
What have you noticed is different in this S6 TW/ROM?
Removed:
- App drawer. No option to sort alphabetically. (Only on T-mobile? has the option)
- Capacitive Touch Keys led/backlight setting removed. (Available on At&T only)
- Clock has removed Smart Alarm. Now there is a new option to increase volume over a non adjustable time.
- No Widget for Flashlight. No option to long press the volume up to turn on.
- Messages, Import/Export via xml is gone completely.
- No options for LED indicator. Just on/off.
- LED notifications for third party apps is spotty. Still testing..
- Default actions. When plugging in headset you no longer get a customizable list of apps shown in the notification area.
Added:
- Pop-ups for Notifications. New. Plus, no setting to disable. They slide in from the top on whatever you are doing.
- Charging/Fast Charging shows how much time left until fully charged. (nice)
Maybe this will help ROM developers to see what people are unhappy about missing what they had on their old device.
As well as others that may be interested in the differences.
"pop up" notifications are Heads Up and are part of AOSP
Why do you need a widget for flashlight? There is a quick toggle for it.
EDIT: It occurred to me that the flashlight quick toggle may also be new in AOSP for 5.x -- so that's probably why it's in a different place

Don't really care if it's in AOSP. This is a TW Samsung ROM. They can improve and change. People expect them to in fact.
Not going to get into the whole AOSP vs customized argument. (Google also removed Silent Mode. They haven't been making the brightest of decisions lately..)
It's annoying as hell.
Time yourself getting to a widget and getting to a quick setting down at the end of the row.
Widget is faster. No reason to remove the option.

My point on heads up is that you're complaining about it in the context of TW... But it's not a TW feature, it's an AOSP one.

Did I need to be that specific with my title? I thought it would be pretty clear. Should I have said "TW/Rom/New to all recent Samsung device users/firmware/anything else"?
You're picking nits..
The two that are killing me:
1) No long press recent apps for menu
2) No direct dial and direct text widgets (ones imported from my S5 through Nova still work, which makes it even more annoying).

How is a quick setting toggle not quicker than a widget. That's just dumb to say...

Maybe if you have lots of home screens.
Or had the toggle in the first 5 options. But I'm sure people have other things there already.
I can get to a widget faster and easier.
It was an option and was removed. Why? No good reason.
The more I'm using the S6 the more apparent it is that Samsung's slimmed down TW is lacking many options that used to be there.
If you want a widget for flashlight just add torch to the my places widget. You can add direct call to that too

Interesting. I had to search for what that is.
I have no my places widget available using Nova.
Only when using stock launcher. Which is especially awful this time around without even alphabetical sort.
The widget for flashlight was available with Nova on the S5.

Thanks, never knew about that widget, but it is one of those TW only widgets...the old direct call way, you can direct email, direct message etc...I wonder if it's a lollipop or Samsung omission?

Screen on Time Widget?

Does anyone know of a mod or app that displays a live reading of screen on time on a homescreen widget? The best I've come up with so far is a shortcut to the battery usage screen. Anyone know of a more direct way?
I do not know if it will help you. But I've seen this app: which supports this otrher app and you can put a widget with the time and the time on screen.

I'm trying this out now. Sort of like Zooper in a lot of ways. Unless there is a formula to show a live reading of the current screen-on-time in a widget, it's not going to really do what I want. I have been able to set it so if you tap the time or a custom icon it'll go to the usageactivity screen, but a live reading of SoT seems to be elusive.
I could use a custom string to show live data, like system info, but I am not finding what that string would be to show that specific piece of data.
