[Q] Can you SIM-Unlock the S5 using this method? - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I was just wondering if you can SIM-unlock the Galaxy S5 using this method for the Galaxy S4 and all previous Galaxy devices:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2282683
If not, is there any alternative without paying? It's for my mom.
Thanks in advance!

Is that legit? IDK man, it requires me to pay without any sort of guarantees that it'll work.

This isn't true - many phones can be unlocked without calling your provider either with an app some coding changes or via hardware connected to your pc
You might be able to unlock with dokys toolbox

[Q] International firmware on AT&T device

Hi,
I want to install the international firmware on the Note 3 (SM-N900A) to bypass the sim-lock. I'll be getting the firmware from the web page "galaxynote3root".
Does anybody know if that's possible?
The reason I'm doing it is that I want to unlock sim. I know there are sites that sell unlock codes for very little money but they warned me that I need to use the phone at least once in AT&T network first and there's no way I can do it, so...
If anybody knows about a different way, please speak up.
Thank you in advance for your answers!
Rok
So... nobody tried this yet?

AFAIK, flashing another firmware will not bypass the sim lock.

Are you sure? Too bad.
What if I flash something else? Like a rooted Rom? Or Cyanogen?
I'm not good at this low-level stuff so I really appreciate all the help. :cyclops:
It doesn't matter, I went with TowelRoot +RegionLock Away + UnlockPhoneNetwork.com and it worked. :victory:

It is because you have to pay for the unlock code.

Freedompop locked device

Hi,
My brother came back from the States, he'd bought a Galaxy S4 there, and apperantly it's locked to Freedompop (a cell company).
I was wondering if there was a way to get it to work on any company ( 'factory unlocked' if you will).
And whether or not it is a legal process.
Thanks.

There are ways to unlock the phone and use it in other networks.
One of the is to buy the unlock code from the carrier in which it is locked.
Another is to use unlock methods found online. I am not familiar with such methods, so you might have to wait for other people's replies or do some research.

Thanks for the comment I'll wait for more details about unlocking without contacting the carrier.
Is the region away from chain fire not working? It should be possible depending on if it's IMEI locked or not

Question about Samsung Galaxy S8 Edge

Hello everyone,
I own a Samsung Galaxy S8 Edge from Thai.
The problem is that the reference registered on the phone and the reference that is in the parameter does not match (SM-G9350 and SM-G9500).
Can you bring me your help in order to root my device and replaced the original rom with another custom rom that owns the playstore because in the original rom the playstore is not there.
Thanking you in advance.

If it was purchased used it may have an s8 port on it. That's what I was running.
It was bought in a Thai shop, I think now it's a fake. But can I do something about it?

Try it mate... try king root, it supports a lot of models.
Try do benchmark and see what results you get, instant way of knowing if it's a legit device or not

Chances are then you won't get any custom recovery or root support.
If it was me I would try and sell it and get a bit of money back for it and buy a real one
ok Thank you for your help.
