What to do with your rooted s3

If you new to the Android world rooting is the equivalent of jailbreak you can install as much modes hacks and themes as you want in this thread I will be explaining what you can do with your s3 running official Sammy rom:
1- Themes
In the themes section we have a collection of themes for every taste and firmware but make SURE YOU DOWNLOAD THE CORRECT THEME OR YOU WILL GET BOOTLOOP
2- Jkay framework
This was one of the main reason I rooted it is compatible with all firmwares official only not leaked and can customise your ui with anything you like
3- boot animations
Imagine putting a bios boot screen or the boot screen of a nexus device all that is possible again with root
4- Custom kernel
My favourite one is Presus it contains both an audio and screen engine these enhance your battery life give extra boost to your performance while maintaining a perfect balance
5- other phone goodies
Like the xperia z lock screen how about the pop up browser from note 2 all these are available as flushable packages in the themes and apps section
6- startup scripts
Want to swap your memory cards make your phone faster all these can be done with startup scripts

You forgot the most important. Flashing custom ROM's. Custom ROM's often comes with multiple tweaks and features not available(or compatible) from official Samsung ROM's. From those ROM's you can get hybrid(Mixed) features from Samsung/AOSP/AOKP/CM

[Q] Galaxy Y ROM BOOTED SUCCESSFULLY ON Galaxy Y DUOS. NO FORCE CLOSE

Hello Respected Developers,
I am very flashaholic ex-user of Galaxy Y and currently using Y DUOS.
I was on stock kernel in YDUOS (stock_ddlg1_6102) and flashed 2 ROMs of galaxy y(not duos)
1)Evo x2.1(with Kernel REMOVED)
2)Evo x4(With no Kernel inside its zip as it is kernel free)
now both the times device succefully booted without giving any force closes.
only problems i found were
1)Baseband not found hence No Network
2)Could not change brightness.
3)Auto Rotation ON will make screen in landscape mode in any physical orientation(But can be managed by turning it OFF)
Woking:
OTHER things I guess were Working.
Music player Working Perfeclty.
Wifi showed me nearby connections.
bluetooth got turned on but not checked.
and so on..
what i am thinking is that only now we need to replace the drivers part of the OS with that of YDUOS..
I dont know these stuff but hoping someone can do it.
I really want to use those amazing roms of galaxy y...
I am a single sim user so i would not even need any dual sim features like sim management.
PLEASE YDUOS developers try to work out this problem PLEASE and POST HOW TO MAKE THEM WORK IN OUR Y DUOS and i would even appreciate if some of you point me what to replace and from where.
I think we can use all roms of Galaxy Y on YDUOS(but i am not a developer so need help.)
please bring joy to our boring YDUOS life.

what really lead me to flashing these roms in YDUOS is because once by mistake i flashed yduos stock rom in y.and i realised this when i saw the yduos samsung logo.but nothing happened to my device i removed the battery while it was booting and then flashed actual rom.so i was thinking that may be these devices are so much similar that they can work on each others roms with just minor replacement of files..
Eagerly waiting for someone to answer.

you just need to simply port the rom
I dont have a duos so I cant test but just copy the framework folder over to a stock rom base of duos and the app folder too although you will have to mod the systemui as duos has different usb smali so just copy the usb smali from a duos systemui into the port ui

I tried porting but rom did not boot,just stuck on samsung logo.
Also i did not get why we are replacing system apps in port rom with that of stock rom? because i want the ui of port rom and not from stock rom.

I didn't say use system apps of duos base rom
I said you may have to use the USB smali files from the duos systemui & copy to port systemui
Follow the instructions on the link I gave & it will boot if done right

I would say....Download different country firmware and flash the stock on Y duos...
Some of them might give u reception

I also flashed Y's Custom Rom...HYperion GM 8 and EvoX 4 They look awesome so i flashed i also got same problems as urs like brightnesz,autorotation etc etc
Use Hyperion GM Ported For Y Duos tht wil giv u some pleasance ..

just use duos one but I presume you would change the 1 to 0 in network type to disable 2nd sim
#For Dual-Sim BPM default setting, [0:disable] [1:enable]
persist.sys.bpmsetting.enable=0
#For Dual-Sim default sim2 network type setting
persist.radio.networktype_1=1
and replace everything below
# ADDITIONAL_BUILD_PROPERTIES
with the one from evo
like I said I dont have a duos so I cant play with it - you will have to work out how to port things yourself - theres loads of guides
have a look at a duos rom that has already been ported from 5360 to see what the build.prop is like

Best ROM for G-7102

Hi guys
Which do you think is the best ROM for G-7102 over NK1 firmware. I really want to switch but I don't know which has the least bugs over this build. Thanks in advance

Cyanogenmod 11 woks great!
Sim 2 call voice and video recording are the bugs left which are going to fixed soon!
it can be heavily themed and customised

Thank you I am going to try it. I am a heavy 3G user and use only 1 sim so the 2nd sim bugs don't matter . How is it for gaming? Any idea?

There is no "best ROM" for any smart phone. It all depends on the personal preference of the user. The "best" for one user may not be so for another. For me I prefer the stock ROM as long as I can root, remove unused apps using Titanium backup and use Wanam exposed to tweak I am happy....

Hi there. I had just installed the CM11 but seems to me that there is little problem with the system ui. There will be an endless pixels dropping down on the screen when you press the power button within a fraction of seconds(for ex press the power button once and them press it again after 5 seconds). I would like to know if you are supposed to have a respective kernel or clock recovery module installed in my phone. I had rooted the phone, then installed phliz recovery tool and later installed the CM11 and Gapps to gether. Please help me find out if I have done anything wrong.

Apps and mod for GT-i9506

Hey I started this post so people can put their apps from anothers versions that work in GT-I9506. Because in apps section are no apps for our phone. So at Start most of these apps and mods are someboby others creations, so let the credits go where do they belong!!! I have installed note 4 weather app in my 4.4.2 it is from albe´s NOTE4 apps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/themes-apps/exclusive-note-4-apps-collection-t2882577. S-Voice works too, but it is better to put in system/app. Right permissions 0644/ rw--r--r--. allso pas2001 bootanimations work. albe´s s5 music player works. So namanagraval_93 music player, witch is actually A5 music player:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2697455. Frageti´s Finger howering:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2705514. S6 messages work; it´s beatyful and fully working. And many themes work, as long you remember to look that system ui haven´t moded. If that is modded you need nanoid or vr theme back up. And remember to look if you are deodexed or odexed. Example A5 musicplayer works perfectly but I`m de-odexed rom. so I delete odex files from priv.app and app. If you know more put it here. And allways KEEP NANOID. i'm trying to activate the one hand mode, (easyonehand.apk) do you have info about it?

Witch one of them? In my phone I can't use it it wont work. Not even with xposed. Try to put in apps or priv.apps set permissions, reboot and set phone to easymode. I don't have easymode at all.

No, I meen witch 4.4.2? I have I9506XXCNJ1 and if you have deo it is not stock, you have root.... And if you folloed the instructions and it wont work it wont. When I know your rom I can try to make you one that works.

i have CNI1
i think i have understood why it doesn't works, i need to edit android.policy.jar for our 9506, but i don't know how...
i've found another one here now i've restored the nandroid backup prior to te deodexing...so it's just stock with root
this mod, anyway, need a deodexed rom

DeHawk. Allready deodexed and there is autoroot and everything in 1 page. Android policy.jar wont be enough, but I found one promising mod. I'm gonna try to make mod there for you. I'm ripping it from s5 mod for 9506.

in the last thread mentioned, the one for 9505, page 2, they just edited policy to make it compatible to 9500
i don't like to install a custom rom now because i'm scared about eventual bugs...with my old phone i'm finding bugs...now...after a year of use...i don't want that happen again...and i just don't know what this rom can do and what not...when i know the stock rom well, maybe i'll look for something more...

Ok, but you cant use the mod with standard, you need permessive. After you install permessive you can edit your own androidpolicy.jar and download from EX.DeHawk's allready modded secsettings and edit only needed lines. I have used modded rom three years and if rom ok, no bugs. And in DeHawk,s rom is no bugs. It's better than original.

ok i've taken a policy from here and i used the file from the 9505 mod, i have deodex but no permissive, now i see the settings, i can activate it, but it doesn't work :crying:
you are talking about permissive but is not mentioned in the threads of this mod, anyway now i try to force permissive with an app and i'll report back...
ps. now is permissive, doesn't work.
it'd strange that works on every s4 models but the 9506...

Yes that is proplem with this phone. We know that it works with every other... I'm gonna try something and report back. It should work with those modifications.

You need to download tw camera app for cm. There are many versions to choose from just look it up in here xda.

And for washwash. I just got back from holiday, and no success yet. I made one version and it didn't work. Starting to think that its too mutch for my talents. I have one more option to try. Porting it from some rom.

But if it's keyboard that you need, that is easy: just install LG keyboard with onehand options. But I check out the porting from rom. After when I found rom where it's working.

i've found this it's for E300S, the eastern version of the 9506, i tried to download it from here with the help of google translator but i can't successfully complete the download, only around 25% and then it stop
anyway i wish i've never bought it, there is just nothing for that phone, even the usb mass storage is bugged as hell.
ps. no, the eastern variant is the E330S

Sorry that aswer. Wrong language... That rom what you was refering is not straight compatible with gt-i9506. There is some difference in software and there is some difference in hardware too. Arter97 can tell you more. And that skt rom removes normal tw-rom. There is awailable xploded one-hand mode. Allso when googled one hand mode for s4 you get one hand mode for 4.4.2. Not tamida's version. But it wont install. I tested. But when I extracted it and installed it one by one with root explorer I got it working.

What is the closest TW rom to AOSP

i wanted to know if anyone can save me time testing them all, is there a TW rom that is as close to AOSP as possible no Samsung apps apart from camera & s heath ?
And can you remap the buttons and use a dark theme ?
I would love to us a aosp rom but i want the good quality camera and to be able to use s health

Well, the best way to do this, is of course by rooting your phone and installing any TW-based custom rom you like. Debloated, deodexed and including any samsung app you like to install during the aroma installation process.

Yeah ive done that already but im struggling to find dark themes and to remap buttons

You should try out resurrectionremix, which is real aosp. As for touchwiz, you can only use a custom launcher, a darker theme and install Google Apps, although that will be all you can change on touchwiz.

yeah i used rr but the camera is not as good this is my problem i know you can make shealth work now on aosp but the camera quality is just not as good thats why i want a dark theme for tw i have managed to remap buttons and get everything else now its just the theme

Regarding camera quality, you can use htc camera on AOSP roms. Ultra fast focus and great quality. The only problem is it crashes here and then..although o hadn't installed it for a while now. So it may be even more stable on newest nightlies. Otherwise it is the best.

Use Dual Boot Patcher app to install ResurrectionRemix in dual boot with your TW-based ROM. If you want to take good photos, reboot into the TW ROM, and for everything else, use RR ROM

Dual Boot is really easy with the dual patcher app
There also are tutorials on XDA for this app, and it works perfectly
