Has anyone noticed some serious lag in the stock gallery after updating to JI6? Anyone know if there is a fix for this?
Thanks
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Ive noticed it but do not know a fix for it. For some reason the CPU spikes a ton when opening the gallery. Sometimes it just freezes completely on my phone. maybe 1/6 times it does that.
I haven't seen any lag. I updated with Odin.
I also used OCLF app to root, lag fix and other tweaks. Installed clockworkmod recovery
My Vibrant is so damn fast now it's not even funny
i have the same lag in JI5
Mostly it hanged when u first open it..quite annoying
Yes. same here. Rooted and one click lag fix applied. it seems to be the only thing that lags right now.
YES i thought it was my vibrant but i guess not.
it freezes when you try to open it and its annoying!
I believe this really needs to be fixed. Its totally uneeded that a simple thing like the gallery causes me to reboot my vibrant when i jusy want to look at a damn PICTURE!!!!

*Had updated to JI6 via kies mini*
After a fresh reboot, the gallery opens w/no prob. 2nd & 3rd time-it'll lag for a while and the 4th + time, it's time for another reboot. Anyone have any suggestions for an alt gallery app?
Had absolutely no prob with the gallery prior to the update.

I have the same lag here too for some reason....almost seems like phone is freezing up loading the thumbnail images.....never happened before JI6 update, I do have OCLF V2 running and everything else is super fast....
Note: I was not running OCLF after going to JI6, i noticed the gallery lag then ran the lag fix but no change...
Wow this is my first time experiencing this after installing ji6. Never had this problem before on stock jfd and on eugenes roms.

I cringe now when I want to show someone something from my gallery.. Is this happening on every device? I had originally thought it may be something from me being rooted and with a lag fix.
Mine lags on the gallery and when I open the apps folder(section). If I start typing long messages it will stop and be a word or two behind. GPS is useless again and will even be a block or two behind where I am when I'm moving. The GPS says that I have a lock on 5-7 sats and the accuracy is only down to 3-500 feet this is why its a block behind.
today I turned on the map app while I was walking and it would have my speed at one mile per hour and then stop completley and a minute later it would show me at ten miles per hour to catch up. Its like it refreshes every 30 seconds to a minute so the accuracy suck.
This phone is really beginning to become a pain. and it definetly is not worth what I paid for it.
I've been facing the same issue. Just installed Bionix 1.9 stock and it's much better since..
a friend of mines who also updated to ji6 stated that it's becasue of the ji6's new task manager. he said that the lag only happens when he just killed all the apps. he said when ever he disables or chooses not to use the task manager, the lag goes away. so far this has worked for me.
I've had issues with the Gallery in JI6 on occasion so far. It usually freezes for a few minutes or less, only one time did I have to completely pull the battery.
Now as far as what ryan562 said his friend stated it's with the new task manager, I am not dismissing the possibility with that at all. But with my issues, I am not even using the Task Manager that came with JI6 nor does it run in the background/etc.
I'm not going to lose sleep over the small issue here, at least with me. I am waiting patiently for 2.2 Froyo and I'm sure things will be fine with it there when it's finished.
I'm not only getting lag in gallery, but bad lag sometimes in swype
Thought I was the only [email protected]

So does EVERYONE has this problem? Is it a software problem?
I'm running on CM7 RC1 with Netarchy 1.2.4, reboots quite frequently, and it's annoying. Just had another odd bug, phone froze and wouldn't turn on and vibrated non stop for 30 seconds. Phone is buggy when ending a call, it freezes a lot at that point too, anyone else having these problems?
I called today the customer service of my carrier "oi" and I spent kinda 30 minutes talking, trying to solve a problem.
When I saw, my phone was in a bootloop with the cyanogenmod boot and I was continuing to talk, without any interrumption.
The only difference was thet the phone was hot!
Running at 1.4 with the last netarchy kernel my max was 38!!! (low)
Random reboots are a S/W problem, Google is aware of the issue and will be pushing out an update that fixes the problem.
there is nothing your carriers can do about the issue

Just a couple of questions. Are you using a frequency changer app example, setcpu cpu tuner? Do you have the set on boot checked for main profile? I have found if the set on boot is check to have random reboots on calls. I uncheck and no longer have the reboots on calls. That was the only time I ever had the reboots happen. Just a question and something to check in your settings.

Your running netarchy 1.2.4 which is still in its test phase. That's where your issue is. If you switch to a more stable one then you should be fine

No random reboots here, got it on the 3rd. Phone runs smooth as silk. I'm on stock 2.3.2. Out of all the phones I've owned this has been the most stable.
Could my phone possibly be from a different batch? I'm not experiencing any of the issues alot of other people are besides 100% init process, which I solved with keeping USB debugging on.

I don't think it's the kernel, even stock users have the reboot problems.
I don't have any such problem on Cyanogenmod 7 rc1...

We get random reboots from time to time but with the freezing and all the other issues it sounds like the kernel. I tried that kernel and I had the same issues. I just switched to 1.2.2 and I was good to go

I have it set on boot, but I'm running at stock speeds. I am not overclocking and still having these problems. I'm going to try a bunch of other roms and kernels and see what my results are, it COULD be the phone it self, but I doubt it.
And thanks everyone for all the responses.

The kernel is set to default at stock setting so no need to have it set on boot. It isn't going to overclock unless you raise the cpu past 1g
google have already said that the problem its just s/w and they are going to fix it with an update and it's not the new 2.3.3! Hope it don't take much longer!!

its been over one month now and i never had such problem with mine..its running smoothly both with stock and cm7..
I experienced my first random reboot today. Installed clocksync and was fine. Today I loaded the app... screen was blank then saw the boot animation.

I experienced 2 reboots in a row trying to retrieve a service from my mobile operator. I got so frustrated ´cause the mobile operator service takes too long,
the last time I looked, elapsed 7 minutes, few minutes later, reboot...
Became afraid to call again from the nexus, not trusting anymore
wifi on, sync on, bluetooth off, gps off, it was charging with the regular charger, factory rom and kernel, not rooted, launcher pro
I also have random reboots. it's strange though, it goes to the boot animation for some time, looks like the phone reboots, then all the apps and launcher is reloaded, but if you check the phone boot time under settings -> about, the uptime is not reset.
can you guys confirm that your boot times are also no reset during the randon reboots oft he known google android software issue for nexus s?
thanks,
Has anyone else had problems with a very choppy app drawer on Acer's official 3.2 update as well as all Acer 3.2-based roms? Usually, it starts out very smooth. Then, after a second or two, it gets really slow.

i have the same issue. Ive just learned to deal with it. Really hope there is a fix though.
Ive tried to overclock but that doesnt seem to help at all.
Running stock 3.2:
I've noticed a massive hang time after boot. Painfully show to launch any browser,x Diffacult to switch between apps, non responsive typing on screen and then registering some seconds later and it even takes a real long time to bring up my task killer. Getting feed up with it.
Anyone else withe these issues? Any speed up tips?

I just got my update to ICS 4.04 and it's made my xoom worse! Things have got really laggy, it sometimes freezes when selecting things and typing has become a nightmare again! Has anyone else experienced any problems :-(
Iam a bit annoyed now, might just go and root.

Well its just gone from bad to worse...my xoom went to sleep and when I tried to wake it up it would not come back on. I had to do a soft boot but now its stuck on the Motorola screen. I have tried to go into android recovery and do a factory restore but it comes up with an error
I am really stuck on what to do next, can somebody help please?
Thanks
Hmmm mine went to 4.0.4 and I was thinking the opposite! it seem alot smoother and faster
Mines seems to run slow too after the OTA, but i'm not sure if that's the tTorrent app, when it's running it makes the xoom lag out like crazy, when its off everything runs fine.

You could go into Developer settings and switch off animation or set to .5. That should help with lag. I never use live wallpaper either. A big download may also make it lag .
Well the lag didn't last long because I actually had a complete failure after installing 4.0.4. My Xoom went to sleep and would not wake up, had to do a soft reboot and then could not get passed the motorola boot screen, was stuck on it for hours! Tried to go into recovery to wipe and reset but that would not work either. Tried to push a rom image from my pc but then my xoom decided that it didn't want to be detected by my pc anymore so it looked like my xoom was bricked :-(
Luckily I had some help from some great people over at xoom forums who helped me to get it back up and working by using RSD Lite and a stock Rom SBF file.
I now have a working xoom updated to 4.0.4 with no problems at all
Not sure but I think it may have been a freak accident that just happened to me.... I just hope it doesn't happen to anyone else

Mine has gotten really bad with scrolling lately...
Seems that I can only scroll either up or down (or both) for no more than a couple seconds. Ive been able to move my finger up and down on a scroll area and it only lasts a couple seconds and seems to "lose" my finger press even though my finger never left the screen or the area. I have to wait a couple seconds before I can scroll again or else it doesnt recognize the finger press.
Sometimes I think the lags just android its never constantly smooth. You'd think dual core would be as smooth as butter but it really makes no difference. Still waiting for Google to fix it. I've had months of smoothness then the odd time something slows it down
I agree, 4.03 was great with no lag issues then nightly 90 had some lag again with scroll issues, so far on #91 I'm not having any issues. I had the biggest problem when I was trying the OC @1600, I slowed it back to 1408 interactive and all is smooth as glass:thumbup:

This is my second Ph-1 and it is starting to freeze multiple times a day. I read the previous post regarding Nova causing these issues, I am using the stock browser and so far, so smooth. I really dislike all the "whiteness" of stock and the lack of customization.. but it is worth it for a smooth experience.

Side loaded any apps?
I've experienced this issue lately. Yes I am using Nova as my daily driver. I just restarted the phone and issue went away. Hopefully it stays away. If it pops up again I'll report back.
I've had my phone for about a month now. I have had Nova loaded since day one but just recently have experienced the freezing and reboots. It is very random for sure. I may try a run without Nova if it happens much more.

Nope, nothing sideloaded...
I am using Pixel 2 launcher for over a month and I like it.
I've had crashing on Beta 2 quite a bit with Nova. OTAing to Beta 3 reduces the crashes to once a week using Nova, which is pretty okay.
It's usually when I try to unlock the phone or am in the middle of doing something that everything just times out and reboots :s
Still on nought and have noticed bout the past week or so have had 2 freez ups. I'm using nova also. Rooted with magisk and viper and a batt mod.

Wow... I've had my Ph1 for over a month, running Nova.(not rooted, don't feel the need to) .. and I've had no issues at all... I'll admit I can recall a few hiccups (nothing major) when I first received it, but after all the updates, mine is running top notch... I understand that this phone had a rough launch... and a butt load of updates... But I honestly can't complain about my experience....
Well I made it almost 8 days this time before it restarted on its own while sitting on my desk. I usually like to reboot my phones every so often but I wanted to see how long it would go this time. DARN lol!!!

Tried Apex launcher and pixel launcher. No real difference. Phone is difficult to unlock. Takes a long time. System UI crashed. Oreo beta 3 seems overall buggy for me.
Is there a way to troubleshoot whether or not I could be having a hardware issue as opposed to a software issue?

I've seen temporary freezes, like a 1-2 second delay but they're pretty rare. Not sure what some others are labeling a freeze. Does that mean 10 seconds, a minute, they need to reboot?

I've tried a factory reset and that didn't seem to resolve the problem at all. In fact, it seems like unlocking got slower after the reset. The only things outside the box I am doing is using the Google camera app, running an app called layout to hide the navigation keys, and running an ADB command that makes the screen slightly larger by moving the top parameters of the screen up closer to the notch at the top of the phone. I guess I can do another factory reset, restore my applications, but don't install Google Camera or make any adjustments to hide navigation keys or change screen size.
I may do that, or just wait for the official release of Oreo which I hope is soon!
If anything here sounds like a hardware issue, I would appreciate your thoughts. Thank you.

For example, when the phone has been sitting a few minutes I pick it up, touch the fingerprint sensor and get no feedback. The phone seems dead. I push the power button and nothing happens. I can do this several more times and then the phone may, or may not open. When it is working smoothly, I tapped the fingerprint sensor quickly and hear the"click" sound immediately. About 50% of the time this does not happen. If I had to estimate the amount of time it freezes or lags, it is certainly in excess of 10 seconds.
Many times I am forced to hold the power button down until it reboots.
In other cases, I may be in the middle of using the phone, it will start to lag and freeze, and then automatically reboot itself.

I'm on the beta 3 release and I'm not experiencing that at all. Fingerprint unlocks in under 1 seconds almost every time. You may want to try a clean install without your other "enhancements". Personally, I'd do that just to get some stability and/or reliability. That may also save you time once the 8.1 beta drops because if you can determine that's the culprit, you'll know not to install that stuff on the next beta.
Honestly, as finicky as this phone has been for some users, I wouldn't install anything other than normal apps from the Play Store. I'm really holding off on rooting until the 8.1 beta drops so I can still get the ota as soon as it's released. Then I'll start playing with custom ROM's, etc.
I've only had this for about a week, coming from a Pixel. Flashing that phone was the worst experience of my life, looking forward to trying it here.

Thanks. Good points. I'll take your advice and clean flash.
The phone is less than 6 months old, getting hard freezes. requires restart by holding power and vol down.
Happens almost everyday while watching youtube and trying to switch to any other application.
