Not getting the renowned battery life, help? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This is from today. Im rooted, but turned off greenify and wakelock terminator for these stats. Only thing disabled is carrier IQ. I normally get around 4 hours SOT. While that sounds good, its nothing to compared to some stats i see posted. I have knockOn disabled, only use wifi and nfc. No locations or bluetooth.

I do nine of this nonsense and can get 48 hours+ battery life with normal usage

What would the nonsense be? Rooting?

One thing I noticed is the INSANE amount of wakelocks from the phone app

Disabling stuff and this obsession with monitoring every single thing, I do none of that, I use my device like a normal person and get awesome battery life!

My Nexus 4 battery life

Dear bros,
After I did root for my phone, Its battery seems to drain so quick even I use JuiceDefender-Balance profile (about 15% of whole after one night without 3G, disable facebook, email notification). Before It may be better. Have you all give me advice to investigate this stuff? Thanks in advance!

First, I wouldn't use juice defender. In my opinion it does more harm than good. Rooting won't cause battery loss. What you need to do is get BetterBatteryStats so you can see what' app(s) are keeping your phone awake.

Falssseeee lol. I used juice defender on my S3 and it ran like a charm and extended my battery life by more than 8 hours. All it does is shut down the unused radios when the device is in certain states and etc.

Battery life problems

Is anyone else experiencing very bad battery life? I use it for five minutes and it drops 5%... Am I doing some
Thing wrong?
Sent from my SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 2
Welcome to life of the S4. No youre not doimg anything wrong. The best thing I can suggest is using Juice Defender, and a Task Manager. Turning mobile data off when not in use, screen brightness at about halfway. I can squeez about 20 hours out of this phone with moderate use this way.

You're doing something wrong if it drops one percent per minute

You could give the new qualcomm battery app a shot... takes a few days to read your usage then starts adjusting things like app sync times etc to save your battery.
I just started trying it out. Looks promising.

Battery life is like the only good thing about the galaxy s4. I'm so disappointed with the lag and the overall performance of the phone. But battery life lasts me the whole day. I have the At&t galaxy s4.

From my personal experience with it, it keeps waking up my phone when it goes into deep sleep. It wastes more battery by constantly waking it than it saves me.

When you restore your phone, are you restoring all the apps? One bad app is all it takes. you should reset to stock, and not install any apps. Then when you see that it runs ok, install one at a time as you test.
Not sure who has lag issues, but my phone rocks. No lag here and battery life is great.
No lag here, at all... My best for battery is 3 days, with 4 and a half hours screen-time...

Keep in mind there are lots of variables at work.
Wifi vs. Cell data - Turn on Wifi and battery usage goes down a LOT - if you are in a wifi area all the time. Cellular data is a battery pig.
Weak signal area - another battery pig - i have had phones drain in 8 hours doing nothing if i had poor reception
Usage mix - Your 2.5 hours of screen time, could be good if you have screen at high brightness and are streaming cellular data (movie) and if you are also syncing email, facebook, and everything else in the background.
If you do all your data by Cellular, then 4 hours of screen time will probably be your limit. It is hard to tell if you have a wake lock issue or not, as we don't know anything else about your usage, apps that are frozen, gestures on/off, etc.

What does the next screen show - when you tap on the graph - it will show screen on time and wake time.
And do you have power save mode on?

Nexus 7 power spikes.

I'm not sure what's happening. My Nexus 7 remains idle most of the time, yet I get pretty bad battery drain and then when I check the battery history I see this. This happens during every battery drain.
Any ideas guys?

Wow, have never seen that on any device! Install Gsam or better battery stats if you are rooted to see what's going on. My best guess, it's a hardware issue.

Have you already tried reformatting? Kind of a pain, but that's the only thing I can think of.
Try contacting Google or the seller they might give you a replacement.

That happened to me once or twice. These spikes are only visible on the battery graph in settings app. I use an alternative battery monitor app from Google play and it does not show any spikes. Also battery life seems pretty in line with what other people report. I simply ignore them since they do not seem to affect battery life.
Could it be caused by the wireless charging functionality being triggered by other electronic devices in house?
I saw the same problem in the G+ community there, but it's Gelexy Nexus which updated to Android 4.3 recently

Hey everyone,
My Nexus 7 (2013) is having the same problem with battery graph. There are about 2-3 spikes to 100% in every discharge cycle.
I noticed this problem has been reported in different cycles, but no one seems to be able to give a definite answer of what the source of this problem is.
BTW, after a reset to factory settings, the problem still persists.
ANY idea why this is happening???

Galaxy S4 Battery Drain Please Help

I bought a S4 manufacturer refurbished new with battery, charged it for like 6 hours as it is new, I've been using it for nearly 5 hours now and it is at 41%, from the very start I've disabled nearly everything apart from WiFi and the Samsung features such as air gestures and stuff and even mobile data (as I have none atm) have been disabled and brightness has been just slightly higher than lowest, how is it possible that the battery is draining so fast???

look at your settings and go to the "battery" section, and have a look at whats eating up your battery.
you can use "greenify" from google play to suspend any applications too.
Here look Twitter is nearly highest, I find it highly unbelievable that Twitter has been eating my battery this fast, I've seen S4 users have their screen brightness to the highest watch videos social networks etc for 16 hours and still have juice left

How are these battery stats?

I was wondering what people thought of these battery stats. I consider these average for my normal day. I've gotten much better and much worse. Just looking for comparisons. And wondering if anyone had any advice that relates specifically to this phone. Ive done almost everything out there. At least as much as you can do running stock. I have frozen many apps. Disabled almost all non essestial settings. Display is less than 25%. Use app ops. Wake lock detector. Better battery stats. Turned off location on almost everything. The only thing I think hurts me is I have auto sync on many apps, mostly for social media. Mainly I want to know if people who have gone through the ringer trying to squeeze very bit of battery life out of their phones are experiencing similar battery life. I see so many people claiming crazy stats I want to know how they do it.

@ OP.
Those battery stats are average for a normal every day user on stock. Custom ROMS and Kernels if you want super battery tweaking.
So off topic bc I'm a super noob.. I was wondering if you root your phone do you lose the ability to get carrier software updates?
