No combination of buttons show any signs of life, I've tried everything. The only thing that happens is that If I pull the battery and connect it to the PC it recognizes the phone as

When I pull the battery and put it back in and hold the vol buttons while connecting it to USB the computer keeps looping saying that the device is not recognized.
When I use the program from http://forum.legija.net/showthread....g-galaxy-S4-(i9505-and-similar)-via-USB-Cable
It says COM3 found, but clicking start doesn't fix the phone, or make odin see it.
So I downloaded the original firmware to use with odin but odin isn't seeing the phone. Any tips?
Only tip I have is to check out mobiletechvideos.com

Thanks, yeah that looks to be the closest I've come as well. I was hoping since the pc knows it's being plugged in maybe there's software that can fix it for free.
no. you need j-tag to fix.
your computer isnt seeing the right part of the phone to flash. your phone will show up as several different devices depending on what mode it is in.
the device you want to see in device manager to flash in odin is:
SAMSUNG Mobile USB CDC Composite Device
and its listed under USB devices, not coms and ports
Did you try using the debrick image? I am not sure that it will woek for s4. But as per some user it is working for s3 and note.

Stop stealing phones u should be able to unlock the pattern with the email address connected to the phone since it is yours and all

Xda is the wrong place to ask for a solution to a device that may be stolen.... I hope you have a legitimate reason for being locked out of the phone. Seems fishy that you would forget your own lock pattern.

Download Mod
If you for some reason the device does not go in flashing mode (this happens when spoiled Sbl.bin) - here's the solution:
1. Extract to the root c:/DL_mod
2. Put a tick in debugging USB
3. Connect to PC
4. Run runme.but
All, you can download Odin or Heimdall and flash bootloaders

Hi, I just got a new laptop (Lenovo Yoga 13) and flashed a new ROM on my GS4 a few weeks back. PC is on Windows 8.1 and GS4 is on Google Play Edition Port 4.2.2 by b-dub25.
I'm trying to have my GS4 show up as a disk (MTP/UMS, whichever works). When I plug in my GS4, nothing happens on my PC, or it will say "installing", and then nothing happens. If I go to Control Panel >Devices and Printers, it shows up as "SAMSUNG_ANDROID". The phone does the usual "Connected as a media device" deal. However, when I plug in my device to my fiancee's laptop (Windows 7), it boots up just fine. And when I plug in her phone (Stock GSIII), then it pops up like it should. I have no idea what to do.
I have already tried
installing the drivers over and over, both regular KIES and KIES
"Update Driver" from control Panel
Change to PTP
Rebooting PC and GS4
Going through the Samsung Troubleshooting
Here is what I see in Device Manager:

I thank anyone who can help in advance. And yes, I did search before this. I've been trying to fix this for 2-3 days now.
Google play edition ROM 4.2.2 has a mounting problem where it won't show up on your computer (from what I remember ) flash a different ROM and see if that works.

Only problem is, it shows up just fine on my fiancee's W7 laptop...
I've tried multiple builds of the Motorola drivers, they install but when I plug in my device is says that the drivers were not successfully installed. Does anyone now of a fix for this? I'm on a windows 7 laptop
Try using a USB 2 port and the cable that came with the phone.

Hmm, try going into device manager and uninstalling the drivers that are there and plug the phone back in and try to get it to auto install. If you use fastboot and recovery much, you also need to boot into each one of those and plug the phone into the computer so the appropriate driver will install for each of those.
Actually, one of the USB ports seemed to have installed the drivers successfully.

That probably won't install until you put it into tethering mode. However, it shouldn't affect anything as far as using fastboot or having your computer detect the phone.

I dont know to much about android but i know you are the best if some one cant help me thanks in advance.
Try searching for your stock firmware in samsung-updates.com or sammibile.com. once downloaded, flash it using odin

I suggest you download Kies 3 and restore your firmware that way, just like it is suggesting in that error.
I had that problem. Hold down vol up and down, home and power until it turns off. Then vol down, home and power to go back into download mode. Then use odin and flash your factory rom. I tried going to the latest n910c formware and it didnt like it so had to flash back.

Hi. You need to fix your PC drivers to get your Odin or KIES working.
