Nandroid backups are usually performed in recovery mode. This means you would have to turn off your phone and reboot in recovery mode, which wastes a whole lot of time rebooting and a lot more time offline. For me, this has been a killer as I do regular nandroid backups. Having to reboot in recovery and finding missed calls, sms from my wife and friends is totally not accepatable for me. So, I set to develop an online nandroid backup tool, namely Online Nandroid, which can do nandroid backups without switching off my phone.
Today, I am releasing it to public, as it may serve good for some others too. Originally I developed Online Nandroid specifically for Xperia devices, but now I am releasing it for all android devices.
This tool, eventhough called "Online Nandroid", does not upload/save backups to any online/cloud services. Online here means that it does backup while phone is live or still running Android.
The short name onandroid is meant to be pronouced as o-nandroid or o'nandroid and NOT on-android.

To make life a lot easier just go to Google Play and get Online Nandroid Backup * ROOT

The GUI developed by Thomas Otero makes it much more user friendly (and of course he properly credits Ameer for his work). It even checks for updated versions of the script.

XT1033
Stock Rom 4.4.4 Asia Retail
Rooted
Unlocked bootloader
TWRP 2.6.3.3
So heres how i ended up in this situation. I installed a custom kernel the other day and find it not to be useful for me.
Before i flashed the kernel i made a backup on my rom. I used TWRP 2.6.3.3 but if failed in the middle of the backup. So i used online nandroid backup. And backup was successful. When i find the custom kernel not not useful for me, I decided to restore the nandroid backup i made. Did not wipe anything. During the restoration I noticed that TWRP restarted.Then it prompted me to a No OS Installed (something like that). I wipe dalvik and cache i think. ThenI tried to restore it again and completed the restoration. When it booted, looks like i only did a factory reset, which should not be the case. I restored it like twice but same result. Now i ended up installing all the apps again. I was able to install some of the apps from Nandroid Manager. Only the apps and not the data as it took forever to restore one app, i have like 200 apps. I used TB to restore apps and data but it looks like it only detect 7 apps (all were xposed modules). Im almost done now but I have 2 apps that i want to restore but cant. MagicJack as we can only register the app one time. And i used temporary email when i registered which i already forgot. And also i want to restored one of my google account which i used in registering in some sites. Too bad i forgot the password.
So yesterday I decided to install TWRP 2.7.1.1 (with OTG support). i have installed it successfully. because i want to restore the old nandroid backup. I nlow made a titanium backup so i can restore the apps with data.
Now when i go to TWRP i noticed that the file size of the data is toooooo big. (see the pic)
When i hit the refresh it shows the real size but then it goes back to the wrong file size.
As a result i cant backup because the file is too large for my 16Gb USB using OTG.
Now im using the online nandroid backup again, and backup seems to be fine.

Someone please help me.
I dont know if its a bug or I just f*cked up my phone.
I also tried the 2.7.1.0 still the same.
Do you know any recovery that support USB otg?
I used cwm on my old phone and it works like it should.
What version of twrp do you use?

Failed to install Aroma file manager on Samsung S5

Hello. This is my first post on this forum so please correct me should i post this in the wrong cathegory or use wrong tags etc
I followed the straight-forward guide i find here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646108
Using the recovery mode on a Samsung S5 i have the option to "Apply update from external storage" and i find the .zip file under this tab and if i try to apply the update i get the following message:
{

}
I've been trying this three times but i get the same error. I tried to search if other experienced the same problems but i found no similar threads.
Fyi this is on a non-rooted S5. It belonged to my grandmother which recently passed away and we are stuck trying to retrieve the photos on the device and this seemed like the best way. If there is any other way to retrieve these photos from a S5 with a pattern lock i will gladly accept any suggestions USB Debugging is obviously turned off on this phone -_-
Thank you!
You need root, a custom recovery and a terminal emulator as it seems to do this. Btw i`am sorry for your grandmother. Best is to flash a custom recovery with Odin, flash the latest superSU.zip in recovery . Reboot and install a terminal emulator from Play and follow the guide. Turn on usb debugging too.

Hello guys,
By far, for me this is one of the most simplest ways of rooting this phone. Lets get started
BTW All Downloads Below
1. Download KingRoot

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
2. Extract ZIP package with app desired or use a desktop, then place files onto phone
3. install the APK, and ignore any warning pop-ups
4.Open the app upon completion of app
5. You will be presented with the main screen saying no root avaliable, CLICK ON TRY TO ROOT
6. App will now start executing root
*May be slow so give it time
*Make sure to allow blocked apps if presented with a pop-up
7.If all went well you will be presented with a ROOT SUCCESSFUL screen OR phone will restart and you will have root
***At this point DO NOT request or run any apps that require root until the device is restarted.
8. Enjoy Root!
-If root is not accessible upon restarting, go into KingUser Su and click on REPAIR ROOT
-I do not know how to replace KingUser with SuperSU Sorry!
Goodluck!
Proof:
KingRoot APK: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9y1pDvJBE4nVk4wYlhCNjc4UkE/view?usp=sharing
KDZ Firmware MS34510f(METROPCS ONLY) : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9y1pDvJBE4nTEFFLXFraDgxOTg/view?usp=sharing
Firmware can be used for recovery purposes, a backup, and here for convinience!

Gapps is bugged / TWRP does not recognize its own backup (x722)

hello, I require your help to operate my cell phone, I'll tell you step by step what I've done... [it is obvious that my native language is not English]
first, i installed TWRP following this tutorial https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-pro3/how-to/leeco-le-pro-3-root-t3476560
second, backup the complete system with twrp 3.1.1-0 (O.S. 5.8.0.20S Stable, android 6.0.1, Banggood international version). This left me a folder full of files which twrp does not recognize when I want to install that backup again.

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
third, Install the ROM by following this tutorial https://forum.xda-developers.com/le...ent--and-mods/stock-eui-5-8-20s-x722-t3680624 Something seems strange to me that when I run the .bat, the phone reboots in a couple of seconds and the only change I see is that it installs the original recovery, since everything else stays the same, even the system version (EUI version: 5.8.001D (Dev))
Finally install S.U. official (all correct), and OpenGApps, use the Stock and Nano (ARM64, Android 6.0) versions, and both show error when starting the system,
does not allow me to do anything (attached image).
So here I am, with a new cellphone, without being able to restore the copy made with twrp, using a EUI developer version, and without being able to install the Gapps.
---I would greatly appreciate your help---
I have just solved my problem, since after installing my TWRP backup (which I was taught a little recently), It could not start because asked for a false password, then, without deleting anything, i installed from fastboot the ROM X722-5.8.020S-by-Batyan, that is here in xda, and arranged.

Great news. You don't need to do anything. You've done your part. :good: Just leave it up for people in the future to look at and learn from.

Probably it's something with the TWRP and OP6T encryption. I also faced this error not long time ago. Try to do the backup on an external USB through OTG.
As long as it is not possible to decrypt the 6T, you won't be able to do a full backup. Does also not work via OTG as the encrypted data cannot be read from internal memory.

It's because your phone is encrypted, but you can still take a nandroid backup using this thread.
