I bootlooped my LG G2 and I've fixed this problem before but I don't know how. When I hold down the Power Button (or Power Button + Vol Down) it reboots the device and goes directly into bootloop. I want to shut it down so I can access the recovery. I've solved this before by luck, 1 out of 100 tries I can somehow get it to shut off. Is there a consistent way to do this? Thanks for the help!
Edit: I managed to shut it down. I removed the usb cable (I don't know if it's related). Then I hold the power button until it rebooted and the moment the LG logo appeared I stopped pushing the button and the phone shut down. It seems very random and I wish LG can just make the 'battery pull combo' just shut down the device, not reboot it.

can you get into recovery by holding the volume down button when the phone is off and then powering the phone up while still holding it down?
as long as it turns on and screen comes on, you are not bricked .. it's almost impossible to birck this phone ..
can't get into recovery at all, phone is not responding to anything just constantly stuck on initial white htc screen. have backup on sd though no way to get there through phone
how can pulling the battery not work? If there's no power to power up the screen it should die instantly
Try keeping it out for like 10 mins or more.
Then go to recovery and wipe/reinstall from backup.

And to get to recovery you have to start with the phone turned off (by pulling the battery). Then put in the battery and before you press the powerbutton, press and hold the vol- button down. When you're holding the vol- button, press powerbutton until the screen turns on, keep holding the vol button until you get into the bootloader just in case. From bootloader you can choose recovery with vol+ and vol-, powerbutton to select.
And as long as there's something happening on the screen (e.g. HTC logo) it's not bricked.
cheers Hawks556, all is good now
Is there some kind of hard (power) reset/shutdown method for this phone that I am just not aware of? This is probably the most infuriating phone I've ever worked with as it constantly wants to power back on even when it's shut down normally or when I do what should be a hard shutdown by holding the power button down. Makes getting out of a bootloop impossible until it finally decides to stay off.
Just one of the many reasons that I hate sealed in batteries.
I believe once or twice I have successfully held the power and down volume until it got me to the recovery screen when I was stuck with a boot loop or other non shutdown event.

Hold power and as soon as screen goes out release and hold Vol Dn, release when bootloader starts then use Vol keys to select shutdown and press power.

Well if I can get to the bootloader then mission accomplished, I've just never worked with a phone that will turn itself back on like this one seems to at least half the time. Holding the volume button down as soon as it cuts off seems to help send it to the bootloader if it does decide to power back on.
Yup... Should do the trick.
To be honest, in all the phones we have had there was never a way to force them off, except if it had a removable battery. Huawei, Moto, HTC, Samsung, Nokia... All would reboot if you held the power long enough.
My wife woke up this morning to an unresponsive phone. It's been on the charger all night.
The screen is off, and the led blinks blue about every five seconds.
power+volume keys has no effect - neither power + vol down nor the standard recovery- or download mode combinations, even holding down for half a minute or more.
The phone hasn't even been flashed - it's still on the original ROM.
Never seen this on any Galaxy device before, I'm completely clueless.
Have you seen this before? Any ideas on how to force it to power down?
Thanks!
force restart is power button and volume down for 10 sec if that's not helping you have a broken phone.
Thanks. As I wrote, force reboot didn't work.
But it seems I was wrong - it did work, but I had to hold the vol down and power buttons pressed for over a minute!
So problem solved, for now.
so, phone is not rooted, no bootloader unlock yet, has been sim unlocked. held the power button, selected reboot, device turned off and is just sitting there. computer makes a noise when i plug it in, but no device pops up
suggestions?

I was having that problem too and remedied it by just pressing and holding random buttons down for random periods of time lol. Sorry it's not more precise. Eventually I had the power button held down with the volume up and it ended up turning on. Was down for a good like 2-5 min though with absolutely no signs of turning on.
Was only getting that problem after I selected oem unlock from dev options menu.
When it did turn back on, I powered down completely and held vol down with power to go into recovery and selected fastboot from that menu.

Yeah, thats what happened to me as well holding both Vol up and down with power. Now I either do vol up with power or vol down with power... never both haha. But I don't think vol up with power does anything.

for whoever has this issue and needs to see this, my steps to cut it back on (finally):
1. let it sit on the charger for like 5-10 minutes
2. unplug let sit again for a few minutes
3. pressed power and both volume buttons till i felt a buzz and it cut right on.
So I have a rooted oneplus 6t that was doing quite well for a little while now but for some reason today it died when it was hooked up to a charger. When I unplugged it and plugged it back in it did its usual vibration to signify it was connected but then it showed a qualcomm crash error (died too quickly to see it fully but it was small so I at least saw some of what it said) now when I try to let it charge it doesnt vibrate and doesnt even turn on when I left it on charge for a good hour now and when i hold vol up +power, vol down + power, both vol +power,or just power for their respective seconds to get the phone to respond. Tried looking for a answer online but none are similar to what i am having atm. Also my computer wont even see it either while it's like this. I've tried other cords as well to see if it was a cord issue and wasnt it's been sitting on the charger since 10:55 am est. Help?
It usually just takes some persistence. Usually the power + volume up will force it off, and then power it back on does the trick, sometimes it seems like it's all three buttons (which shouldn't do anything?) . I've had a couple times I've been just about to give up when it finally boots back up to fastboot.
Volume Up + Power while turning on will boot to fastboot.
Volume Down + Power while turn on will boot to recovery.
Holding Volume Up + Power should force the phone to turn off.
Volume Up + Volume Down should put your phone in Download mode for the MSM Tool.
Make sure you hold the buttons much long than you think you should have too.
