Hi everyone,
I've tried several different ROMs for my Canadian i337m device (e.g. SlimRom, Illusion, CM, Goldeneye, Pacman, Revolt) and the only one capable of sharing my 4G connection with my laptop through is Revolt. This is after about five hours of testing and tons of flashing. I certainly "forgot" the network after each test from my laptop so the connection would be fresh each time. I've tried using various levels of security, including none. My laptop can see the AndroidAP signal and get five bars, but then internet just never loads (except with Revolt, and with stock firmware too). FWIW, I'm on Win7 64bit and I have no driver issues.
Very strange! I've tried flashing a "better tether" fix, but that breaks ROMs (they won't boot, because it's specifically for a certain ROM). I've tried reflashing the stock kernel after each ROM flash, but more often that not that just breaks the ROM flash (stuck in boot). I don't know what to do except use Revolt, which isn't a bad compromise (better than stock) but TBH, I like Illusion's UI navigation transitions so much that I'd like to use that ROM.
Any ideas? Maybe there's a way to slipstream the stock ROM's MobileAP files into another ROM? (Probably not, because stock's settings panel is completely different from other ROMs', but just an idea.)
Thank you for reading.

I am encountering the EXACT same issue on my Rogers Galaxy S4, tethering works with stock firmware, but nothing else, I even called rogers and had them remove and readd the tethering flag on my account. The APN settings on the TW (stock) firmware are exactly the same as the settings on the custom ROMs. Wondering what is missing here.
Howdy,
Found the solution to my tethering issues, simply go to the Play Store and search for this app:
ISWAT Tether Unlocker Free
There will be a rather obnoxiously loud app that will play before it performs the operation to unlock your tethering, but afterwards, it works as it does with the stock ROM. You're free to uninstall the app afterwards and you'll retain your tethering abilities

Glad this worked for you. It's still working for me, but not quite as well, I have to rerun it everytime I restart my device now. Not quite sure why or what it does in the backgroud to enable the tethering.

Hmm, I also need to re run the app after every device reboot.... Oh well at least it works.
OMG thank you, I've been looking for something to fix this for a few weeks now but this did the trick. That ad for bigfish casino was really loud with my speaker mods, but hey, it works so it's good enough.
thanks again
Hey guys. So I've noticed that there don't seem to be any Roms available for tmo g2 that include WiFi calling. I really loved Cloudy's G3 rom; It looked absolutely beautiful. Thing is, It doesn't have WiFi calling and I can't go without it as there is no signal in my office. Is there a way to side load the feature after the rom is installed? Can devs possibly include this as an option in aroma? Any help would be great.

does stock rom have wifi calling? and isn;t it carrier specific ?
If it is in stock rom then there a very real chance it could get ported.

Yes, WiFi calling is a T-Mobile feature in most of their phones. I can make calls and send sms messages without any additional software or configuration as long as I am connected to wifi. It's a very nice feature and one I don't think would be hard to port. I know the CloudyG3 rom has T-Mobile option in Aroma so it could just be included in the system install for that option. I just don't really know what files are dependent on that part of the system. I'm sure a lot of T-Mobile G2 owners would love to flash some quality roms if they could keep their WiFi calling ability.
+1 Using G3 ROM for the looks and performance. But I need wifi calling. I dont use much but at times I need that feature.
Even Cloudy stock wont support it.
Energy Rom is the only custom Rom that supports it - it is based on stock jellybean though.
I end up getting a Samsung Galaxy S4 SGH-l337 for free. It had a broken screen which I was able to fix for $7(was a pain to fix). I've been having a problem with the WiFi though. It works fine at first after a factory reset and I wipe everything, but after a bit it doesn't work anymore. If the WiFi is left on and I try to connect to a different network it will show as a green dim icon, but I can't turn it on. If the WiFi is turned on like if I turn off my phone then it won't turn back on as well. Is there any way I could fix this with a custom kernal or new modem firmware? Also is there any cool things I should get or install on my phone? I've been wanting to use it for Kodi and stream to it from my pc over wifi then use the screen mirroring. I've also been using it as a google cardboard which is really cool if anyone hasn't tried that before. You can play wii, psp and gamecube games on your computer and stream the video to your phone in 3D and play on it. Works pretty good.
Since you have an AT&T Galaxy S4, you really should be heading over to the AT&T Galaxy S4 Forums on XDA for information regarding your device, including custom ROMs, kernels, and firmware.
The most important piece of information I can give you about that device is this: depending on whether the phone has had its firmware upgraded or not, the bootloader may be locked (i.e. encrypted), which will make rooting and custom ROMs difficult. There are ways to work around the problem, but they are not located here, as this is the International S4 forum, and we don't have devices with locked bootloaders.
Hi guys, I am aware than in stock Android lollipop 5.1 (for example on Nexus phones), it is possible to actually switch the wi-fi network you are connected to from within the actual notification drawer. On the S4, this is not possible, you can only turn on and off wi-fi, to switch it you have to hold the wifi toggle and then it takes you into wifi settings (or you can go into settings then wifi seperately), BUT basically the S4 version means having to go onto a new screen .
Does anybody know of any mods or apps which could allow this functionality within the notification drawer????
PS. I'm rooted and have Xposed Framework if that helps..
So you understand what I wish to achieve I have provided this link which explains how it works on Android 5.1: http://www.addictivetips.com/androi...-from-the-notification-center-in-android-5-1/
Cheers guys
Hi Guys,
I have a T-Mobile N910T and am looking to enable native bluetooth tethering (this seems to be something that T-Mobile disables in their releases?). I tried flashing to a custom rom this morning but ended up in a reboot loop even after several attempts. I then used the ODIN tool to take me back to a stock N910TUVU2EQI2, which at least has gotten my phone running again.
Anyhow, would be really nice to have BT tether as I am looking to put a tablet in my car and would like it to pick-up my phones data connection when I"m in the car.
I feel like custom roms seem to have a bit of a learning curve to get working properly, though, I have learned a reasonable bit as I spent most of the night figuring out how to flash my phone in the first place and then recovering it to a stock rom etc. ...
Any suggestions as to what rom I should attempt to flash that would likely lead to the least number of issues, but allow me to have BT tether ?
