hi,
my S4 i9500 won't boot.
i have tried loading several versions of stock roms, recoveries and non-stock roms.
all stock roms fail in odin, and i get "unsupported dev_type" error on the device.
other non-stock roms install with no error, but the device won't boot after reboot.
finally, out of frustration and recklessness, i guess i used an S4 boot loader fix wihch loaded successfully from odin.
unfoutunatly, after rebooting the device, boot message sais GT-I9505 instead of GT-I9500. turns out it was a 9505 boot loader fix.
is there anything i can do to bring my device back to life??
currently, device won't boot to recovery (blue "recovery booting" on top left corner of screen), won't boot to system, but can enter download mode, and be identified by odin.
update: i also tried flashing stock rom with pit file. in this case i get "secure check fail : pit" error message on the device
thanks!!

if you dont want to be on stock rom then try flashing a custom recovery by odin eg philz touch link here and then just flash it via recovery and you will be able to boot into recovery and then you can just flash a custom rom.
if you dont want to install custom rom do a clean wipe and try flashing the stock rom again
hope it hepled .
Hit thanks if it helped.

Easiest way out is flash stock start from beginning

Hi,
I am trying to install open recovery on my note 4 n910c android 5.1.1, using odin and openrecovery-twrp-2.8.3.0-treltexx.img.
Odin says that the flash is successful, but when I try to reboot in recovery mode I obtain the green android and after that the laid down android with 'no command' message to finally ending up in the normal recovery mode.
I have tried several methods to flash it, I even tried to root the phone (I had boot loop and reflashed the stock rom).
Can anyone help.
Thanks in advance
Hello,
Did you have the autoreboot option UNCHECKED in Odin when you flashed the recovery? it must be unchecked, the device can not be allowed to reboot into system after flashing. After flashing with the option unchecked and you get the green pass, you have to manually boot the device to recovery with the button method, then you will keep the recovery, if you boot it to any other modes immediately after flashing then it reverts back to stock recovery, it requires booting directly to the recovery immediately after flashing, then it will be retained.
Hi,
Well it make sense, I had the reboot option ticked on. I actually went through another way by flashing the 5.0.1 bootloader which then allowed me to flash the custom recovery.
To be honest I am not sure whether or not I had the reboot option ticked on (my guess would be that it was as it's the default option in Odin).
Anyway, thanks for the tips I hope it will help others.
Model: SM-G900P
I've tried every kind of rom flashing here, re-partitioning, recovery images, etc.
I really just want to get to the stock recovery mode with out the auto boot loop.
Please help.
What else do you need to know?
Try flashing TWRP 2.8.7.0 with ODIN, and boot into TWRP recovery
If you can get into TWRP, you have a very powerful recovery with a lot more options than stock, to try and get things working again before going back to 100% stock - if that's what you're aiming for

The flash seem to work via ODIN. See image below.
But it is still stuck in a boot loop for normal booting or for recovery mode.
Am I using Odin incorrectly??

A lot of newer S5s do the same thing (Except they usually boot back into stock recovery, but as yours isn't working, same thing)
Follow this guide (Using the correct version TWRP for your model S5)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64961009&postcount=2
You can ignore steps that are not relevant to flashing TWRP, or follow them all for a rooted phone (Apart from reactivation lock as you can't boot yet)

I followed these steps:
"3) boot into download mode.
4) Odin flash TWRP 2.8.7.0 (specifically this version).
5) DO NOT allow phone to boot, (uncheck auto reboot in odin and if necessary remove the battery as soon as the TWRP flash has completed) then.....
6) boot directly into recovery. (Vol +, Power & Home button combination)"
Although, they were not very specific....
To flash with odin, I used the AP button and did not let it auto reboot. Removed battery immediately. tried to reboot in recovery and saw the same issue.
I think I need all files.
BL
AP
CP
CSC
and possibly to re-partition with a PIT file
You say in the first post you have already repartitioned?
PIT file is for repartitioning
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2799613&d=1402839135
Extract to .pit, add to PIT section in ODIN, add ROM to AP section, flash both together
You can try older versions of ODIN for TWRP to, some people have success with version starting 3.07 > 3.10.7
I was able to do the PIT and the TWRP at the same time.
Although, my phone said "SECURE CHECK FAIL : pit" on the screen, it seemed to do everything.
But upon reboot to try to get to Recovery (power, home, Vol+), it no longer waits and reboots/recycles. It fails with a message that says "Could not do normal boot." and send me to Download mode.....
If I try to boot normally, I still get the boot loop....
I just used the PIT file I used last time and it's back to where I was when I started this post.
Endless reboot cycle...
Maybe the bootloader needs to be flashed?
Ok. My issue with the failing pit (and any other failures from Odin) was a combination of using a bad version of Odin or a bad version of the tar or pit files.
I am able to flash the latest stock rom g900p OK4 just fine.
I can flash twrp just fine as well.
But the boot loop cycle still remains.
I believe I know exactly what I need here and it's the stock OK4 boot loader.
Here's an Odin flashable OK4 bootloader for the G900P. https://mega.nz/#!9ItUDZ7C

Bootloader file was exactly what I was asking for. Thanks.
However, it did not solve the problem.
Boot loop cycle going on still after stock BL, Ap, PIT all flashed....
Any other suggestions ???? Please. From anyone?
I'm sorry to write in this old topic, but I want to know if you solved your problem, as I'm having the same trouble. Everytime I turn on the phone it stucks on bootloop, and after 5 to 10 cycles it starts. When trying to enter to Recovery it stucks on bootloop and never enters. I've tried with TWRP or Philz CWM but it just doesn't enter to recovery :'(
Hi, Im new to the forum.
My Galaxy S5 LTE-A (G906S) has been stuck in a boot loop. I successfully restored it through Kies a month ago but now its doing the same thing.
I've now tried flashing with both, Kies and Odin, but it still appears to be in a boot loop but now with a prompt at the top "recovery booting" in blue.
Also I can only access the download mode and cant seem to enter recovery. If i try to charge it while off it enters bootloop. Hope it isnt a hardware problem... Can anyone please shed some light on the issue.
Thanks
PS. The device isnt/wasnt rooted.

Can you suggest which one on here would do the job
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G906S/
Ive tried the 3 on the top, to no avail
As the title says, I tried to install TWRP onto my Galaxy S5 via the app. It said that everything was successful but when I try to boot into recovery, I get stuck on a loop that says recover failed with a big caution icon saying start up failed. I can get out of the loop by using Odin and trying to install the recovery through that but it fails but I can at least turn my phone on and use it. I would like to get TWRP on my phone still but every outlet I have tried does seem to work. I could use some help here. My phone is rooted with a custom stock rom.

I have flashed twrp 3.2.1 via odin 3.12.3, but why I didn't see twrp interface when I boot into recovery? It says something like this:
Android Recovery
MMB29M.G900FXXU1CRA2
samsung/kltexx/klte
6.0.1/MMB29M/G900FXXU1CRA2
user/release-keys
Use volume up/down and power
Reboot system now
Reboot to bootloader
Apply update from ADB
Apply update from SD card
....
...
Power off
Based on what i have seen on youtube, it's not the twrp interface? It's G900F, un-rooted, not sure other status.
