I used the cf auto root to root my s5 so I don't have any custom recovery.
How do I go about getting a custom recovery? Do I need to unroot via SuperSU then flash cwm through Odin then root through recovery?

So I rooted with Motochopper and then installed custom recovery (twrp). So now the OTA fails to update. I would like to get the update and then re-root with CF-Auto-Root. If I follow the linked thread will it restore me back to stock recovery if I already have custom recovery installed? If not, do I need to follow THIS path then accept the OTA, then go the CF AutoRoot method?
Thanks in advance!
The first link is just to root while on mdl. The second one will get you back to stock mdc, you can then accept the mdl update and reroot from the first link.

hi i have a samsung galaxy s4 gt-i9505 xxuemj7 with android 4.3 and knox, how can i root and install CWM?
If your root and flash recovery note you will loose KNOX capabilities and trigger the KNOX counter and you can not downgrade to any lower firmware version after that.
If your happy with the above:
Flash CF-Root as PDA in Odin:

Then download any recovery you want to use, and flash again with Odin. Most here recommend TWRP or Philz Recovery.

My Motherboard on my I9505 messed up and every few min. I would get no sim card and have to reboot.
I got it replaced and i used kingroot to root my phone. I used one click to root and install cwm last time. I have no computer to install a custom recovery. Is there a way to install custom recovery with flashify or rashr or maybe moble odin pro? I don't want a brick but I need a custom recovery. Please help.....

Flashify should work fine. Use TWRP recovery though. CWM and Philz are outdated and not maintained anymore.
Yes! Flashing worked! First had to flash a custom kernel. Then I flashed a custom recovery. And it worked..... thanks. Rash wouldn't work. It kept flashing stock recovery over my custom recovery.

Hello all....I have been able to install CWM Recovery on my SM-N900T and it works fine. The device USED to be rooted but I had to unroot due to corporate policies. I would like to re-root it now and I still have the CWM flashable CF-Root zip file that I can install with CWM. The question is, once I install that zip file, will CWM recovery be replaced with the stock recovery ? I somehow remember running into something like that but I am not sure and I wanted to check with all of you first. I want to be prepared in case I have to re-install CWM again.
Thank you all!
It's just a cf auto root. Cwm/twrp are different things.

I recommend using twrp. To obtain root, you can just flash supersu from twrp.

Thanks for the reply...yes I understand CF autoroot and twrp/wm are different things. What I meant was that using CWM (booting into it as revocery), there is the option to select "Install zip" which will flash a cf-autoroot "flashable" zip....

Need TWRP and SuperSU beta 2.71 for rooting Marshmallow correctly
You've already tripped KNOX by flashing CF AR, TWRP is a very powerful, and necessary recovery when you're doing things like rooting
Flash TWRP 3.0.0.0 and then that SuperSU zip

No, nothing gets wiped
MM requires newer SuperSU, as you found out older versions have problems
TWRP 3.0.0.0
Code:
https://dl.twrp.me/klte/twrp-3.0.0-0-klte-klte.img.tar.html
ODIN 3.10.7
Code:

SuperSU in the link I posted yesterday
