No I don't have daydream on and turned off all the gestures and motions thing but the screen keeps turning on. I usually notice it when it is connected to wifi and turns on and then takes it to enter the password even though it has fingerprint setup.

I have wake lock activated on my phone (with PARTIAL_WAKE_LOCK which turns off the screen after few seconds but which leaves everything else awake).

The problem that I have now, is that I am loosing ADB Wifi connection whenever that screen turns off, even that phone is in a wake lock. And I am unable to reconnect to it again after that (while screen is still off).
Does anyone know how to keep phone from disabling ADB Wifi connection?

Well i have it working with 2.3..... "Upgrades" always degrading my efforts tho
Please let me know if you figured this out... I think it has to do with the "security" of a "locked" screen.
I have screen lock off... So my idea seems wrong
I noticed that when my phone was sitting still the screen would randomly turn on, not just to the ambident display screen but to the lockscreen. I realized it was happening anytime the phone lost its data connection and had to reconnect. I can replicate it by turning airplane mode on then off and immediately turning the screen off with the power button. After about 5 seconds, the screen turns on again on its own. I've tried disabling ambient display, daydream, tasker, and bluetooth, but it still happens. I have unlocked the bootloader and changed the dpi but everything else is stock, no root. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm having a similar problem. Did you ever find a fix MaxPower99?
i unticked wifi allow scanned in wifi settings because the problem of random restarts phone in a day. look like i shut down, and the phone vibrate 2 or 4 times and screen logo display on the screen and normal boot. when i whatever i want reboot or shutdown phone the wifi settings is automactically marked wifi allow scanning. why checked again even when i turn off????
My screen always cuts off after being idle for around 10-15 seconds. It doesn't matter what I set the timeout to, it cuts off if I don't touch the screen for 10 seconds, even when I'm moving the phone around! The only fix I found was to enable caffeine, which is annoying when my screen accidentally turns on and never shuts back off unless I manually turn it off (like when my phone is in my pocket or a bag and I don't notice the screen is on). Does anybody know what to do? I already tried resetting and that didn't work.
So my mxpe lockscreen wasnt timing out at all, using latest google phone wakes up the device leaving lockscreen opened and if plugging in the turbopower waking the lockscreen it would stay opened. I found this solution to work.

Ok. So recently I used "power saving" mode. I took it off immediately after I didn't need it any longer. For some reason, the Android system on my phone didn't register that, so my phone lock screen kept time-outing after 3-seconds (kinda annoying when trying to use Samsung Pay).
Anyways, do what I did: simply go to Settings>System>Battery>Power Saving Mode>On
Then just turn it back off. Kinda like cycling it, but only once. This time around, my Edge seemed to pick it up, and register it. My timeout screen is now longer than those annoying 3-seconds.

I guess it didnt fix it. The sleep when in active is set for screen and lock screen. This sux. I have sleep set @30min so my lockscreen will stay alive for 30min.
Found a real solution that works. Found here.

Some stated to goto developer options/running services and kill one by one each service and power off the screen and back on till timeout works on screen well I did this and found that Material Notification Shader kept the timeout screen from timing out so I disabled the app and I have a timeout on the screen after I power on the screen and/or plug in the power cord.
