I have Locked S6 Edge from Sprint..I want to unlock
I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge from Sprint and it is Locked to their carrier. But Since i will be using it outside USA i was hoping if this method can unlock it and so i can use any other SIM international. Please point me in the right direction.
Is this just international unlock or domestic?

I'm not sure. I will receive Sprint S6 next some days. I will update after trying this. We will know that soon.
i get the unfortunately ssu.apk has stopped working , any way around this ?
A better way and one that worked is to use the GalaxyTools apk
http://forum.xda-developers.com/not.../app-one-click-hotspot-enabler-menus-t2816159
worked brilliant and sure shot. v3.18 works on lollipop.

Bad news, there is no any Custom ROM for Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.
I will work around then posting results.
Hey guyz, Calling Sprint and asking them to unlock the phone for international use (your going on vacation to Europe ) is an easy way to do it.
If you can get Galaxy Tools to work for you it will also unlock your phone for international use.
I've read if your phone is post Feb 15 2015 and you own it outright it can be unlocked for US use... I don't know this for a fact so you would need to do your research... Or just call Sprint and ask for the policy details.
Hope this helps spme...
Thx!

Hello! If I understand it correctly, after I unlock it, I wouldn't be able to upgrade it.to Lollipop anymore? Am I right? Asking, because after the upgrade it will be locked again.
Thank you!

If you want to upgrade it to Lollipop, you must install stock ROM Lollipop via ODIN. This method won't relock after upgrade ROM. Tested, confirmed

How do you unlock with gt tools
Another solution for this is calling sprint and having them remotely update you prl. The now have free texting and data in some contries i called and had it enabled. Phone# 18552248796 and asked them about the free international roaming. No root required and also works on tw roms.
SSU does not work me
Hi , I'm new to the forum , try to unlock my Note4 and install a customroom and SSU does not work me .
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks
I tried it with GT but it asks for a control key code. I have no idea what it is...
Hey everyone,
I am currently running a straight talk variant galaxy s5, which is exactly the same as the verizon variant s5, just without the locked bootloadet. I know this for a couple of reasons.
1. I was able to root and flash twrp via Odin without safestrap.
2. I can boot into recovery without safestrap.
3. I can flash roms and make back ups in twrp without safestrap.
4. I can flash any verizon variant s5 rom, and they work flawlessly.
I have read, on galaxys5root.Com that cm 13 will work on all the s5 variants, except for Verizon and at&the due to there locked bootloaders. My question is this, if the locked bootloader was the only issue preventing cm 13 from working on a verizon variant s5, how hard would it be to port it without a locked bootloader? Or is there already a version of cm13 out for Verizon s5 variant?
In fact before I flashed a rom my phones model number said sm-s902L now it says sm-g900v. Not only that but YouTube before I flashed a rom would only let me play upto 720p, now it let's me play upto 1080p. And it's not a type o, it is actually playing in 1080p. It also recognizes and let's me over clock the full quad core processor. And I can verify that I bought this straight talk s5 from Walmart directly, and unboxed it out of a a walmart /straight talk box. What I think is that this really IS a verizon s5 sm-g900v, just with straight talk software on it, which gives it the unlocked bootloader.

I just discovered that even 4k video recording is enabled, and none of the features I have mentioned are supposed to be enabled on the straight talk s5. Really the straight talk s5, is a verizon s5 with an unlocked bootloader @jjdavis699 @jrkruse

So how hard would it be to bring cm13 to my straight talk s5? Could I just use the verizon developer variant of cyanogen mod? Or a KLTE variant?@jrkruse

Go to the Galaxy S5 unified development section or the cyanogenmod web site and look for the version marked KLTE

On your phone go to settings => about phone and look at the build and baseband numbers. If they read SMG900VV you have a locked bootloader. If there is a KLTE in the build and baseband number your bootloader is not locked. If you bought your phone at a Verizon store or a retail outlet such as best buy, you most likely have a locked bootloader.

They say that the "klte" version is a generic gsm build. I don't know if that will work. I know I would have to add the vzw apn's, but i am also concerned about the radio files and modem that are in that build

Oops, I forgot about all the klte variants. I guess you would be looking for a build for the kltevzw. The CM thread says if your device is not listed to use the generic klte build, but I don't think I would chance that.

I am getting set to do the same - and it looks like there is a version for Verizon Gs5.
Scratch that - looks like there are no Verizon builds beyond KitKat so far. Getting the latest OptimalROM 15-5 instead.

@jrkruse what do you think the chances are of it working if i flash a straight talk bootloader to my Verizon phone? Do you think it might work as a bootloader unlock? I'm willing to try because I have unbrick.img which makes my phone unbrickable.

It may work. In theory because the base models are the same and can run the same ROMs. But my fear would be that if you bork your bootloader your device would be hard bricked. You need the bootloader to even start the boot processes.
Does anyone have a sprint omadm notification saying 'checking device status' after flashing G950U1?
You can safely ignore. As far I'm aware when it happened to me, nothing else... lol It'll eventually disappear after a while.
It's been a few days and it's still there
Weird, assuming you've rebooted at least once right? Are you in the States?
Is your Sprint s8 unlocked? If not it won't work with any provider besides Sprint.

My s8 is originally Verizon, using it with ATT sim, so that's why i think it's very weird
Sorry to revive this thread. But I have a Cricket S8 and flashed the July update XAA which from my knowledge is the unlocked S8 firmware. After flashing I get the exact same thing even though I didnt flash any sprint firmware and my sim card is a Cricket one.

I'm reading on their website that the handsets are Qualcomm, so no you will not be able to root.

I have a freedom s8 and currently there is no root but you can expect a root within the next few weeks. But since the bootloader cannot be unlocked, you cant flash any roms or anything. I would suggest getting an exynos s8 (wifi calling dosent seem to be coming anyways)
All Canadian S8 are SD can't be rooted, Rogers freedom bell MTS Telus XAC etc... all falls under SM-950W or SM-955W. Someone is working on the US version. so soon we can.
Hello,
I had a s8+ and I was able to re-brand it from AT&T to T-mobile; although I don't remember the exact process. I recently got an S10+ Verizon from my boss and I have it carrier unlocked and running on T-mobile. I was wondering if you can flash T-Mobile branded firmware so I can get access to WiFi Calling and the built in visual voicemail. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Yes you can. I don't think there is a inbuilt visual voicemail on the t mobile branded devices. I had to install from the play store.

Yes, I have done it. I ended up going to non-branded firmware. As soon as you put your sim in, it installs visual voicemail....at least it did for me.

Thank you. Do you know if the hardware is the same for the verizon and tmobile phones? with it just unlocked and with the tmobile chip the signal wasn't as high. I'm hoping when I flash it with t-mobile firmware it flashes the radios to use the tmobile bands as well.
