Casual root doesn't work on this edition? Is that a touchwiz only root method or something?
So motochopper root method does not work?
Has anyone tried mobile Odin with everoot?

I thought there was a post about 4.3 from the Google Play edition already being ported to the I337?
I have SuperSU installed, I will try a root explorer to check out if it actually works.
On another note, does anyone know how to get to the app switcher? it seems to be removed from the home button.
EDIT: SuperSU does not work at all, still no way to root. I read that it was due to binaries needing to be updated for the new version.

I will check it out in a moment to confirm if that is how it is done!
EDIT: Confirmed!
I'm seeing the ROMs for the I9505, can that one be flashed or is there one specifically for I337 yet? As well, right now I have the KT-SGS4-TW Loki'd kernel with the 4.2 GE ROM on it, would I just be able to flash the 4.3 over that, or should a different kernel be used? And finally, more of a beginner question, loosing root won't mess with the custom recovery, will it? I'll still be able to access TWRP to flash something different?
The 4.3 download named "Android-4.3-I9505GUEUBMFP-Deodexed-I9505.zip" appears malicious <-- my pc says this is malicious. can anyone else confirm this is a safe download. this is from the "ATT-sgh-i337 android development" section of this forum. Thx in advance. yes I know it says "I9505GUEUBMFP". Which is why i posted what forum topic its from.

Thanks, but...
Used that method last time, but as I said after updating the phone I cannot get this to work any more :crying:
And, as a new member Im not allowed to post to that thread...
I have Avast installed, and for the firewall to operate it needs root. (one of the reasons to root).
Always worked flawless, and after the FW-update it still does... No sure why...

Anyone know why?
First of all, thanks to all the guys who post on here and develop some of these great ROMs. I bought a Note 3 online that had a custom rom installed and no backup. The phone turned on and off and didn't work properly. Just reading these forums helped somebody who knew nothing about this stuff to somebody who was able to install the verizon stock back onto the phone, then root it, install safestrap and install two custom roms (jelly beans and lite). The phone works great with the exception of the following: when using the camera lines appear on the screen and show up sometimes on the pictures, secondly my gps is a little off and doesn't see exactly where I'm at and doesn't work properly. This is the same on both roms I boot from. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.
Go back to stock and see if the problems persist. If so then it's the phone and not the rom.

The problem persists. I actually, read about disabling wifi and image stabilization and that's pretty much eliminated the lines when using the camera, but I can't figure out the issue with gps.
Download an app like gas status and see if that helps. Besides that just might be a defect.

I used screen mirroring with my Samsung Blu-ray player occasionally, and it stopped working when I upgraded to 4.3. I updated the firmware on the blu-ray and restarted the phone, but the problem persists. The phone will briefly connect (the blu-ray will say "Galaxy S4 connected), but then quickly disconnect. My wife's Note 3 is stock 4.3 and screen mirroring works fine.
I'm still using the MF9 bootloader, but have flashed the MK2 modem and the rooted stock ROM ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2586586 ); I'm also using Wanam Xposed. My searches have led me to believe that screen mirroring won't work without a stock setup. Is that right? I was going to start flashing some other ROMs or some of my earlier Nandroids to see if that fixes the issue, but thought I'd ask about this first before undertaking that project.
Screen mirroring and root are a no go. You will need to return to stock unrooted for it to work. DLNA is the culprit here and disables mirroring while rooted.

You must have been using a custom kernel that allowed you to do it while rooted because it shouldn't have worked on 4.2.2 either if you were rooted. Look into one of the custom kernels in the original development section to see if they support rooted screen mirroring. I know this was the case with the allshare cast dongle thingy. Not sure if it is also the case with a samsung tv or blue ray player.

Sadly, no. If you search the entire XDA forum, you'll find some in-depth discussions of the issue related to the Note and other Samsung phones. When I have time, I want to experiment more. I did try one of the modified kernels, but couldn't get wifi to work with it. When I have a full day to mess around, I might try going back to stock, seeing if it works, and going from there. But, everything I've read suggests the cruise350 is right, and rooting breaks screen mirroring. It definitely worked for me just before Christmas when I did a slideshow for some family of recent pix of our kids. I was on stock rooted 4.2.2 at the time. If you're able to revert back to MF9 (the last version of 4.2.2 released for Sprint) modem and ROM, it might be worth trying if you really want screen mirroring to work. But, what I've read tells me that I shouldn't have been able to do it on 4.2.2 either, so you might find that it doesn't work. If I come up with anything interesting with 4.3, I'll post here.
Yea, I I read that it bricks the phone if you try to go back to 4.2.2. I guess well just have to wait for someone to come up with a new 4.3 that fixes this issue. If I find anything ill let you know.
My question has been answered. I was going nuts trying to figure out why it wouldn't work after root
In case anyone missed it, this thread provides a solution to the issue:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2672307
What's up everyone, i'm new to the site and i was wondering if anyone would be willing to help me root my galaxy note 3. I've tried rooting in the past and failed terribly. I tried on a sprint gs3 and a verizon note 2, and i almost bricked both of them. So if someone with a lot of experience would help root my phone and install a custom rom, it would be greatly appreciated. As far as the type of rom, i could careless about appearance...i'm all about performance and battery life. So basically, i want a rom that "overclocks" my processor and removes bloatware and unnecessary apps. I'll take instructions on how to do it but i'd rather someone remotely control my pc [teamviewer] to help. I'll even paypal you like $5 for helping me. Thanks in advance!
I *would* help you, but I'm having issues rooting as well. I'm no where near new to it, been doing it since my HTC Fuze way back when. There are a couple of ways to root, Vroot, will pretty much root anything android and there is Kingo. I would give you links to both, but its not allowed, but you can do a quick google search and find them and info about them. If you're on the MJE build, I was successful with both methods, but I managed to cause a few issues when I was rooted with Kingo and had to Odin back to stock.
You need kingo 1.1.8 and safestrap. Both are one button operations. I rooted and had the safestrap installed and the modified twrp recovery in less than 3 minutes. Kingo 1.2 had a faulty script and causing errors.

Obviously since the bootloader is locked down tight, if you want a custom rom, you need to use safestrap.
You need to download safestrap apk file from hashcode's website, open it, grant root permission, and install recovery.
Once you install recovery you can reboot to recovery right from the safestrap app, then create and activate rom-slot-1
Once active, you can flash/install your ROM.zip file (I would recommend Hyperdrive or Jelly Beans) and reboot...that's pretty much it in a nutshell, its relatively easy
Needing some help with rooting as well. Instead of making a new thread I figured I'd hijack this one
I just tried to root with Kingo, it failed to root. I have a S3 SCH-I535. Where do I go from here to successfully root my phone? I used Kingo 1.2.0.1876. I could not find version 1.1.8.

Yo don't be hijacking my threads. Lol, jk. But if you google kingo and goto their website, you can hit their facebook page in the upper right corner. The facebook page has previous versions.

Thanks, finally got the download. All 1.1.8 links were leading to 1.2 download, had to use a mirror download to get 1.1.8.
Starting root now, hope it doesnt brick! Before I start...I guess I should ask, will rooting and going to a custom ROM fix my battery drain issues? Since the 4.3 update I get about 6 hours of battery life while not using my phone at except to turn the screen on for 10 sec to check the battery level.

I honestly don't know what to tell you. I have a note 3 and 1.1.8 worked for me.
Are you sure it's 1.1.8? I tried many times and downloaded 1.2even thoughit said1.1.8 and finally found 1.1.8 from a user on xda. If you need I can upload the correct version. But as previously stated you can find the most up to date safe strap on the note 3 board. Install the app press install recovery and every time your phone boots it will ask continue or recovery. Make a backup of stock and restore to any slot you want If you want to do stock rooted or select any slot and flash any rom (make sure it's for the Verizon note 3 because with a locked bootloader you cannot flash kernels) I'm currently running neon rom and with moderate usage I'm getting almost 3 days on a single charge. I find wifi downloading I can destroy 40 percent battery in about 2 hours though. Any other questions don't hesitate to ask.

You have to make sure you turn off antivirus. For me that meant turning off avg, Windows Defender and some other stuff I found it. Make sure you have developer options on USB debugging, screen stay on, and for some reason it seems like it helped to turn on unknown sources in your security settings on your phone. Sometimes it took me unplugging the USB and plugging it back in a few times in order for it to work but I just did it myself last week and making sure I did those things allowed me to do this pretty easily and reliably
