I attempted to update my s4 l720 with stock mf9 rooted to the stock nae from sammobile. Using Odin 1.85 everything appeared to pass, but upon reboot I have no data connection and mobile data is enabled? After update about device settings are as follows android version 4.2 baseband version l720vpufnae kernal version 3.4.0-481102 build number kot49h.l720vpufnae . Any suggestions ?
Conmect to WiFi and go to dialer and hit ##72786# this will reactivate your phone. It will reboot twice.

Received an ota update on 11/30/13. Installed and can no longer enable wifi. There are a few threads with similar problems but, the fixes in them don't seem to be working for me. I tried to Odin back to a pre update version. Unfortunately Odin wouldn't work. However, was able to use Odin to install TWRP. I've been reading on xda for the past 4 days. I've tried several methods mentioned in some of the posts to revert. None seem to work. Would someone please help with some step by step instructions on how to get my phone back to stock. I want to remove TWRP and re-install the stock recovery and have the latest sprint s4 stock rom.

How did you take the OTA. It looks like you flashed the MK2 ROM that's is in Dev section. Of you had taken the real OTA it would have updated your baseband (modem) as well.
I've heard you can use MJA tar while on MK2.

Not sure about the original poster but I updated from the Sprint notification I got. Maybe I should have flashed the update from the dev section. Should I try flashing the MJA firmware again?

I originally took the OTA update over the air. I did try flashing the version on one of the XDA threads afterwards.

Just found that after the update I lost root. Maybe that's part of the issue as well.

I doubt it. I lost root too. I re-enabled it via Odin and the problem is still there. I'm just trying to find a way to get back to stock now so I can take it in to the sprint store.

I was able to fix mine by downloading the stock MJA rom and flashing it through Odin. Then take the OTA update and re-root (if you want root again).

I did the same. I initially installed the update manually via stock recovery and lost wifi. ODIN back to stock MJA fixed wifi, and then repeated the manual update. Wifi works fine now. I did not do any data wipes going back and forth, and have no adverse effects so far.
I've currently installed a rom on my rooted Sprint GS4 that was originally SPH-L720. After the installation the model number changed to GT-I9505. Now i'm having several problems like no phone signal, LTE 4g no data, and also cant view any type of videos. I made a mistake by not backing up phone before installing the rom. Is there anyway to get my phone back to its original model number SPH-L720? If there's any threads on how to change it back please tell me. I've also tried to install stock rom and that did not work; the installation aborted.
Here's the current phone info:
Model Number: GT-I9505
Android Version: 4.2.2
BaseBand version: L720VPUEMJA
Kernel Version: 3.4.0-Google-Edition

I just replied to you in another thread. If you don't know how to properly flash international roms you should NOT install any of them. Your phone is still a SPH-L720. It says i9505 because of a build prop file in the rom you installed. Flash a TW Sprint GS4 ROM or odin MF9 tar if you don't have the Knox bootloadee yet. Everything you need is in these threads.

You flashed the wrong rom for your device. Odin to stock. There's a thread in development where you can grab the files you need.

Hope your phone isn't borked. Did you see if the zip wasn't corrupted or did you check MD5 sum?

I don't believe that it's broken. I'm able to install I9505 roms but not sprint SPH-L720. But i would like it to have a sprint rom so that i would be able to make calls and go on the web with it.

Wow so much to say, but I'll give this to you.
Grab the MK2 .tar from here (the tar.md5 is in the zip, just extract the .tar.md5 and put that one file in the PDA slot of Odin) and flash it via Odin.
Run Odin 'as administrator. (use Odin 3.07 or 3.09 - seem to work best.)
It'll reset everything (all partitions and modem etc.)
THEN
Spend a couple weeks reading, searching and reading some more before you truly do turn you device into a shinny paperweight.
I tried to update my sph l720 to unknownforce kitkat rom ....BUT
after i flashed the NAE modem and then flash the ROM after wipe...wipe...wipe....format...format ...format
My wifi and 3g data are OK....working.
but I can not make or receive any calls......Just i can receive SMS?
So what is the problem?

The Solution:
1)Flash mf9 stock odin file.
2)dial the code ##786# to return to sprint defaults.
3) update one by one...mf9>>mja>>mk2 then flash the NAE .
4) Flash the phone again to my local carrier using DFS.
Now all things are working great.

That means your firmware has already been updated to a version newer than MF9. Once you have gone to 4.3 (MJA or MK2) you can't go backwards to 4.2.2 (MF9). IF you have already upgraded to Kit Kat 4.4 (NAE) then you can't go backwards at all.

@dreamii, I'm confused? I am running the MK2 along side KK without issues. Did you have problems with the baseband? Did you upgrade to NAE baseband to get your calls to come in and is that what solved your problems?
Just trying to understand where it went wrong? LoL!

What I was running MK2 and hellkat 4.4 rom, I couldn't get any outgoing or incoming calls. And there is this sound issue also. The speakers, the headphone jack wasn't working. After I upgraded to NAE, it worked smoothly. In my case, combo of KK 4.4 and MK2 firmware was giving me trouble.
So this is what I did.
1. NAE stock 4.4 rom
2. NAE firmware flash with Odin 3.07
3. Wipe clean stock rom/cache
4. Install hellkat rom
Works like a charm now. :good::good::good:

Did you try other KK Roms? Did it still have the same issues? Maybe a bad download?
Coud'nt you have just flashed the NAE modem then update PRL/Profile? Most times that should fix it.

I did try other KK Roms when I was at MK2 + some JB roms also. Same issue. I tried stock unrooted KK rom, TriForce JB rom, Omni Rom, Avatar KK rom. All had same issue.
I didn't thought of just flashing NAE and updating PRL/Profile... huh.. Should have done that so it save some times for me.
FYI, I just rooted a S4 with the MF9 BL and flashed LS KK with no issues, everything works.
I have a sprint galaxy s4 and I am currently on Sacs Rom 4.3 v5.6 with the MF9 bootloader and Modem. I am Trying to upgrade to his 4.4.2 rom but whenever i flash the NAE modem it says in the about section of setting that the NAE modem is installed but there is no sound at all no sound at all. I flashed the modem through ODIN for PC. I have looked at other post here in the forums and seen other fix it successfully but it doesn't seem to help me at all. I have follow the step SACS23 recommends and still same issue. then after multiple reboots i can get get to the home pages and then it starts to freeze and get force closes. I can't post in the development thread yet or i would do so.
Are you using the NAE modem in sacs thread or Unknownforces. If using the one in sacs try flashing the Unknownforce one.

Update
I restored my Galaxy S4 back to stock 4.2.2 (bootloader, modem, OS) and flashed the NAE modem and it was successful and now there is no issues with SACS 4.4.2 V2 ROM. No FC's or freezing, wifi, toggles. Everything seems to be working fine except 3minit but 4.4.2 is new so its going take a few weeks or so.
Dear All,
A year ago, I bought the AT&T S4 SGH-I337. The android version was 4.2.2. Before I activated the phone, I rooted with motor chopper. The phone came with MDL baseband and modem. Before the MF3 OTA, I flashed the Clear Rom 1.0. Later I upgrade it to Clear Rom 1.5. The phone stays at MDL.
A year later, I want to upgrade to Kit kat so I flashed Golden Eye 29. Wifi and phone works fine. Except the occasional application freezed up in some app the phone was fine.
Today, I flashed Golden Eye 30. My baseband and modem still at MDL.
My question being... Should I upgrade my baseband and modem to the new version or just stay at MDL.
If I should upgrade my baseband and modem which version do you suggest?
Thanks in advanced,
Andrew
Stay on AMF. It's the only one where you can install loki and flash any roms to your hearts content! Otherwise you won't be able to install non TouchWiz roms.

Updating the modem alone using the recovery flashable zips won't upgrade the bootloader, so that's not an issue. Just don't try to use ODIN packages to do it. You can experiment and see which modem works best. The thread for them is in the general section.
