Can anyone tell me how to remove/add system apps
Sent from my GT-S5360 using xda premium
You can remove system apps by going to /system/apps using a root explorer and deleting a desired apk. But don't delete any important ones.
For adding, push the apk to /system/apps using root explorer and set the permissions to rw-r-r.

Put it in /system/apps, not media, and set the permissions to rw-r-r. Don't install it. Just push the apk.

Use root explorer put it in system > app, set permission as r–w–r–r.

Use system/app mover if you dont know how to do that.
But in case of Replacing Radio You need tobPush and Replace or.
Move default Radio app to Data/app using system/app mover app
Then uninstall Radio using Usual Method.
Then install the apk you Got and Use system/app Mover to move it to system
Peace
Hit Thanks & It will Disappear

Check if you have in your /system/app files with the extension .odex
If so you have odex rom
try this ...put the apk and the odex file from zip in your /system/app (make sure to hit the mount as r/w in your root explorer) and change permissions to rw-r--r--
Then reboot and check again

yes have quite a few odex files in the system/app folder. I did copy both files there and changed the permissions for both. How do I mount with ES File Explorer?

Thanks for posting I trashed mine by mistake as well
Anybody have any idea why copying the Gallery apk and odex files to the system/app folder, and setting the permissions to rw-r--r-- doesnt get the galery app to work?
bumping it up to try to get somebody who knows the answer to notice.
How can I install again a system Gallery app I accidentally deleted?
So far using ES File Explorer I copied the apk and odex files to /system/app folder, set permissions to rw-r--r--. The files are secGallery2_Galaxy.apk and secGallery2_Galaxy.odex.
It gives me a Gallery icon but clicking it just reopens the Home screen or it gives me a message "Unfortunately, Gallery has stopped."

Try clearing its data. If all fail, just re flash with mobile odin or pc odin. Just make sure not to flash the data.img if the rom has one. Flashing that would clear user data.

If you mean to clear data in settings/manage applications, I did that and it didnt work. While writing this I though of clearing the cash in CWM. Does that have a chance of doing something?
Maybe the uninstall deleted a library file? Can you check /system/lib if there's any file with name gallery in it?
Have you run fix permissions?

I manually edited the permissions to make them rw-r--r--
So I was reading on how to change my name on Google Talk and someone suggested removing the app and installing it again.
After I used a ROM Toolbox Pro to uninstall talk, downloaded an apk to install it again and its not working !
Sorry for being a noob, but how do I get it back?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
download es file ex file explorer and move it with root to /system/app, then it should install itself....
Maybe you could attach it on your post here (the apk) cause u need it

One additional step, when you move the APK to /system/app make sure that you set the permissions properly. System apps need to be rw-r--r-- (644).
And reboot after setting the permissions. The app should be there.
can't acces the gtalk
after all process
can't login
Just wondering if it's safe to delete the stock sms apk. I use handcent and don't really like hiding apps.
In root browser or explorer... just rename it to MMS.apk.bak or just add .bak to apk file on system/app

My note 3 is rooted. Can I flash zip files (not ROMs) like the Cerberus zip file?
Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
Yes you can but be careful. You also of course can't flash ROMs. Its called Flash Gordon all

What is cerberus?
It's the failsafe for nuclear launches. It's to stop a middle when it's been launched hahaha (from Olympus has Fallen)

Cerberus is a security app that lets you remotely, wipe, lock and track your phone as well as remotely take pictures and access call/text logs. There is an option to install it from a zip so it can't be uninstalled by someone that steals the phone.

You don't actually have to flash Cerberus to system/app with a zip file. Just download Cerberus from the Play Store, then use a root browser like Root Explorer to move the apk from data/app to system/app and reboot. Make sure you've set system/app to read-write (R/W in Root Explorer) before you paste the apk there.
