Can I pull files from my phone in recovery using ADB? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can't boot into Android because my phone has no ROM in it and I can't install a ROM because of /data partition problems. I can get into recovery fine.
So I want to pull all the files from my phone. Can I do this in recovery, using ADB? If so, what is the command?
Thanks!

I doubt that would work, I've tried restoring backups and flashing roms already on my phone, but it doesn't work.

just try first. who knows

If you have custom recovery you can pull your files using 'adb pull /sdcard/'

[Q] HELP I have PROBLEM WITH MYTOUCH 4G rooted with virtuous fusion ROM

Hi i have a MyTouch 4G rooted with Virtuous Fusion ROM. Everything was working until when I tried to install Miui Music Player on it. I did adb push but after doing it when i unplugged the phone from my computer several Force Close came up then i rebooted my phone then the MYTOUCH Tmobile logo start up screen came then the HTC logo came then my phone will shut down. I tried to start my phone again the same thing happen. I did Hboot and tried recovery from there but it didnt work. I tried Factory Reset but it failed. I go to clockwork recovery mode if i do backup and restore or factory reset nothing happens. Does it mean my phone is gone? Is there anything i can do to fix it? Please anybody help
Try going into recovery again and just reflash fusion again.

Im kind of a noob but did you reflashing cwm via adb? Do some research first though.
Also I think there is a trick to flash an older cwm via adb and then flash an older romm that needs cwm 2.xxx but I could be wrong

Download a new copy of CWM from here. Rename the file "recovery.img" and put it in the root of your SD card. Then start ADB and enter:
Code:
adb flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img

See my post in your other thread. It sounds like your recovery is fine, so all you need to do is wipe and re-flash.

CWM and TWRP

Hi,
It seems that I have CWM and recovery installed on my Nexus 4. I was on TWRP previously and switched to CWM, now it seems that it is stucked.
I erased recovery in command prompt and flash it with CWM after installing stock ROM but ROM Manager still detected TWRP. How do I get rid of TWRP?

try flashing stock recovery via adb
If you reboot into recovery does CWM come up or TWRP? If it's CWM then ignore ROM Manager and continue as normal

So you are suggesting that I erase and flash to stock recovery via adb and then flash custom recovery again?

CWM comes up as the recovery because it's the latest one I flash. I know it might now matter but this really bugs me.
Dunno why you're using ROM Manager anyway, pointless piece of software IMO. Just flash everything manually
Mine was gone when i unrooting the device

I was just checking out the app, don't really use it. That was when I saw two recoveries. I erased and flashed everything via adb previously. Just really wanna know the cause and how to get rid of it.

Is there a way just to unroot but keep my ROM, kernel and data intact?

That's normal. I have it too. Just choose cwm on recovery already installed and leave it like that.

if you have the previous working rom in your storage, just flash it. if not, you can push it to your device via the adb push option in twrp. you should always keep the last working rom zip in your storage just in case.

Try a data factory reset/wipe cache in recovery and reboot. You should be able to get into recovery.

type this when you are in twrp and have the fastboot cmd window open
adb push "filename.extension" /sdcard/"filename.extension"
then flash the rom
alternatively, you can use sideload.

Push a rom to the sd card with adb, command: adb push namerom/sdcard so you can flash something. Or just flash a stock image in fastboot.

Why would you ever do that? Why?
Read the sticky FAQ again. You are obviously not read to flash roms yet. Then flash a stock rom using fastboot and follow the instructions very carefully.

Just download and push any custom rom like CM, PA or any other rom (don`t forget gapps). It might be best to flash a factory image in fastboot, get the image from here https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#occam, here is how to do it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312.
And please read up or you`re going to get in trouble and possibly destroy your phone, just for your own good.

Can you still boot in to TWRP or do you get stock recovery? I'm not sure why you can't copy Chroma over but if you can still boot in to TWRP it allows you to mount USB storage. I haven't tried this option myself but you may be able to flash Chroma from an external storage device. You can also boot in to bootloader and follow Heisenberg's guide listed in the index and fastboot the stock images which is probably your best bet.
What happens when you try to move the file over? Have you tried to adb push the file over like so:
Code:
adb push [I]file_location_on_computer[/I] /sdcard

I do not and I prefer to keep stuff in the forum so that everyone can benefit from this
Additionally, if you can't push the Chroma file to your phone, you can flash back to stock using Heisenberg's guide here (step 11) then do step 7 to install Chroma.

So what exactly happens when you try to either copy or push the file over to the phone? Does it error out? Gonna need some more information. And I edited my previous post to include some instructions to get back to stock with fastboot if that is easier for you.

If you flash the stock recovery image, you will need to reflash TWRP. I usually just omit that command when flashing back to stock so I don't have to reflash TWRP.
