Howdy, the name's Mike. I've got an idea for a comics app that I think has legs. I want to release it for the Android Market, but I'm a graphic designer and I'm absolutely useless when it comes to code. The App Inventor isn't robust enough for my needs. So, I need to hire someone who can take my graphics, concepts and instructions and make it into a real app.
I'm planning this as a commercial application (~1.99/free with ads), so you will be paid well for your work. Preference will be given to developers who can code for multiple platforms (Android/iOS/WP7), have proven development and Android Market experience, enjoy internet comics, and who can meet in person in north Texas.
I've been lurking on XDA since I got my HTC Touch three years ago, and I can't think of anywhere else I'd like to start looking for talented developers. I supply the ideas, the capital and the interface. You supply the rest. Let's make an app. Email me at aggie20x at gmail dot com to get the ball rolling.
[Mods: If this post violates XDA rules, please take it down and email me to let me seek alternatives. I don't want to make any trouble.]
I was wondering a similar thing, but a search doesn't give much.
I didn't want to make a new post, I'm surprised there wasn't a long list of devs for hire already
Please post here if you might be available. I have a rather simple app request.

Let's hear it.
Basically I just want an app for my site (see sig below) which will give the posts in a list, have a tab for comments and a tab for videos (from our YouTube channel).
My idea was it would be a way for people to say thanks (I would charge 99p for it) and it would maybe help fund further progress of the site...
Hello Guys,
My name is John, I recently became the social media analyst at Samsung mobile. I wanted to start opening the lines of communication between XDA and Samsung. First I wanted to say I have noticed your work on our devices on the XDA forums. I think you guys do an outstanding job, I myself am a developer for mobile devices. So let’s get down to business, we’re going to be in Austin from March 10-15 for the SXSW(south by southwest http://sxsw.com/convention). I was wondering if any of you guys are going so that we could meet up and share a couple of ideas I have. I am looking forward to meeting some of you GREAT developers!
Thanks in advance,

Does Samsung has planned to implement the wonderful Supercurio's work (like Voodoo great sound improvements) and to work with him?
Edit : I've read your're also a developper, so yes, you should post in dev sections

First things first.. It would be nice if you guys made a roadmap for stuff under development for our phone. At the moment, we have no idea which bugs are getting fixed or when. And we have no idea what's being worked on. We don't need a accurate timeframe, simply an indication of what's being worked on
Even better, track the serial numbers/IMEI of the phones, and allow each owner to vote on where development should be targeted (such as what Dune HD does). You could even make an application on the Samsung store to let us vote directly on the phones (which might make it even better).
I wont be there in Austin (too far), but I think what I have mentioned is important, because Samsung tech support is unresponsive and horrible (when you send them a bug by email, you NEVER get a response). However, by at least implementing a voting feature, poor tech support suddenly becomes less relevant.
I have a simple suggestion. Samsung are really ontop when it comes to hardware but we haven't seen any advancement in battery technology. Perhaps, as well as focusing on samoled screens power saving prowess, we could address where we are on the battery side of things. So many features require a modern battery.

Let's not turn this thread into a laundry list of things we want from Samsung. That's not the point and it'll just spiral out of control.
I think that this is a big and important step from Samsung, which they should have done earlier, to be present instead of being silent all the time.
It's for sure that there is brilliant developers at XDA that has done some excellent work, imagine how much they could have done if there someone they could get answers from when the questions do present them self.
Is this a joke or somthing ?
Samsung usa. lol.

Hey John, first of all welcome here !
I this this is very interesting you come! Look, you're page 12 of the the Open Source strategy I shared with Samsung Korea
http://bit.ly/hNJ38m
Hehe I don't know if this is coincidence or consequence, but it sure demonstrate a lot of common interest, and is an excellent news for Samsung and XDA developers !
John and you guys what think of my document now made public?
PS: does your initiative comes from Korea or you didn't shared yet? I must tell you about a few people there
It's great to see Samsung getting involved here. I hope this is not just for PR purposes, Samsung and the customers would get huge benefits if you work together with the developers here.
For a start, I recommend you take a good look into the work that members Supercurio and Hardcore on this forum have done, and work on implementing them into your own firmware.
The difference the 3rd party firmware on the Galaxy S makes is huge. It's faster, the screen looks sharper and better, and the new sound drivers they have worked on are brilliant. The two members I mentioned seem to be the main ones contributing to this.
How about not fragmenting Android and talking to the devs about the best way to allow them access to all the firmware and drivers that are currently not open sourced? (NDA for select devs maybe?)
This would give you all the love you require form the Members here
Logicalstep
Hmm am i the only one who is a bit distrustful? I see no proof whatsoever , that john is im fact a samsung employee .. Or is it just me being paranoid after so many internet hoaxes.

I'm sure we all have seen Transformers right? Remember that scene in the movie where the Autobots are arriving to earth?(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kps_CkEEkUo) Quality kind of sucks. I compare that scene as Samsung arriving to XDA! I will not let you guys down. I will be back on Monday, in the mean time all top developers please pm. On Monday, I will post a new thread explaining further details. Also if your going to be in Austin for the convention let me know as well.
P.S. I have been reading all your postings in the threads.

Community help with marketing
Here on XDA I have seen many members collaborate which is great. Nobody is perfect but we can combine our knowledge and create something which is really amazing. This is one of the reasons I like XDA for. :good:
Currently there are threads for developers who are looking for testers, translators and designers.
However, it is a shame if we create fantastic apps and nobody is downloading them.
To bring the collaboration to the next level I set up this thread.
Developers, here are your marketing experts.
This thread is divided into different sections for different purposes.
If you want to participate, send me a PM with a link to your profile and tell me what you are skilled in. I will add you to the list.

If you present your app in an app store, the first thing in addition to the description your consumers see are the screenshots and the demo video. Providing a demo video is a huge advantage. It is one of the best opportunities to present your app to your costumer.

If I have the time, I'll see if I can write up a more comprehensive marketing guide covering the pricing and promotion strategies and aspects of marketing. Both are really important, especially for this market, and quite a few times I've seen apps that seem to have potential hindered by a not-so-smart/appropriate pricing/promotion strategy that the dev have in place :/

Added app reviews category.
Exchange Reviews with other developers
Today Android marketing is very expensive right now, so why not a review exchange?
androidki[.]com
Androidki is a exchange review web totally for free, your app can be reviewed by the web authors and also by other users in the web.
Also reviews are schema.org standarized so the reviews will also appear on google results
Best of luck with your android app!

Well I guess I'll toss my hat into the ring for some more reviews.
I'm doing a little android blog/review thing. It's in VERY early beta and i'm playing with it everyday so it'll be changing plenty.
http://androidsexplained.com/reviews.php
That's the reviews page, I already got a few big apps up, and bunch more I have to upload.
Basically its gonna be the standard bigger apps, and I want to have a good section focusing on the smaller and indie developers. Give some love back to XDA and all that.
Every little bit helps, so if you need a review feel free to message me on here or mail me at [email protected]

Hi G4 owners,
I'm working on an android app where users can go to stores, collect media for vendors at said stores, and then upload the media to my servers.
The problem: I have one really loyal user who is on a G4 and he keeps running into an issue where he can't upload his data. He's not the most technically-apt person and, since the G4 is so new, I can't find a cloud testing service that has the G4 available.
I'd like to ask for assistance from someone that has a G4 and knows (or is willing to learn) the basics of using logcat. The odd thing is I'm not able to replicate this issue on my nexus 6 (5.1) and samsung s6 (5.0).
Any G4 owner that could help would be greatly appreciated; I'll try to make it worth your time.

Hi flex0r,
It's a merchandising application. Users are allowed to select certain stores and collect different type of feedback based on that store's project outline (interview a manager, restock a shelf with a certain product brand, take a picture of a promotion display, etc). Once we've received and processed this data from the user we compensate them with paypal credit.
Nice, I haven't got a lot of logcat experience but definitely a tinkerer that can help you out!

Awesome! I'll PM you the details.
I haven't been able to get a response from flex0r, so I believe he's likely occupied.
Still looking for a willing candidate with a G4 to test some things.

Hey buddy,
I will be more than happy to help you out with this project, though I absolutely HATE PayPal and their policies, so I will do this just to give you a hand and AM NOT look for compensation for any work I do for you.
Hey ZeldaFan,
I don't need you to actually go anywhere and submit authentic data - I just need someone on a G4 to download my app, login with details I'll provide, and attempt to upload any media (pictures/video).
I'll PM you some additional details.

Hello Guys,
Ive been asked by ZTE employees to post this questionnaire up, mainly for German users, but feel free to fill it in regardless if you are in the EU.
Your feedback is appreciated and valued by ZTE and answering these questions will be helpful to them and potentially improve your experience.
Those who take part may be offered to take part in a beta service and will be given VIP support.

I do appreciate your input but this 'questionnaire has nothing to do with 'improving our experience'.
Hobby, work, income, school.....really ?!
When they would ask me what to improve SPECIFICALLY for this AXON7 i would agree and give input, but this....no way this catch my attention, sorry.

Then dont participate in the questionnaire. Its market research for them and helps them to see our needs. It can still help for this phone if they see software being a problem, they can improve.

Come on, really ? Needs? There is just one way to help in our needs that is to launch a "questionnaire", let's call it survey where we can put directly in written our needs, our specific problems and wishes.
This survey is totally commercial and has no use (to me) to improve things directly on the A7.

It's done! And I so hope they will open to ROM development. I went out of the Samsung ecosystem for exactly that reason.

This is not ranting my friend, just commenting .
This is an old plain, general and ordinary survey my friend with no direct use specific to our NEEDS for SPECIFIC improvement for our model.
Like i said : a specific survey especially for all the needs and comments made over the couple of months would be much much better.
