[Q] SGS4 with TWRP recover - wifi problems and the error - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Hello,
I have TWRP recovery, as used to have root access, but it got lost somehow and standard root process will no longer let me get root back, whenever I try to use wifi I get the standard error from knox.
How do I get back root and attempt to get wifi working again?
Thanks all, let me know if you need more information.

Cf auto root will get you root of you are on MK2 or NAE.

system update?

How do I update to the new software 4.3? My data has been messing up so I wanted to see if this update will fix this.
I only have one mod (hostpot) and I use the prl no root enabler, on stock root.
I keep getting mip 131 "unable to establish data connection"
You can unroot with triangle away and stock Odin tar mf9 then download the update zip. Place it in your external and flash. This is if you want to be on unrooted. If you want to stay rooted there is a guide by muvado I think.

[Q] unrooting my SM-N900V

Hi,
I rooted my Note 3 the Root De La Vega way. At some point, I lost root (According to Root Checker). However, I realized that my firmware hadn't changed. Then, the latest OTA tried to push to my phone and, without thinking, I downloaded it and tried to install. It failed. I figured that I needed to unroot my phone in order to grab the OTA. I didn't mind losing root. I looked up how to do it and found a thread saying to do it through SuperSU. I tried to open SuperSU and got an error message saying that "There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it..." I then tried to see if I could find the stock firmware and use Odin to unroot that way. I couldn't find the stock firmware for my particular device. Now, I don't know what to do. Please help.
Thanks
Bump?

Use Odin to reinstall a stock firmware. Should wipe everything on the device. Make sure you're on the current base by checking for updates. Then reroot using kingo and install safe strap.

[Q] KitKat soft brick. verizon unauthorized software found.

So I was able to root for the first time with Towelroot. That was successful and the I downloaded the clockwork mod and rom manager to attempt to flash Cyanogenmod. however after installing those two apps I restarted and when it booted up it now only shows the error message "System software not authorized by Verizon Wireless has been found on your phone. Please turn off your phone and go to the nearest Verizon Wireless store for help. I do believe that I created a backup on my SD card but I cannot access it and I cant seem to be able to even use Odin to get my phone back to stock Kit Kat firmware. Can somebody please help figure out how to get my phone to boot back up and hopefully keep my root intact?
If your on a retail note, you can't run cm so you would need to Odin back to stock nc4 and re root with towel root and install safe strap recovery . If on developer note 3 dis regard and wait for someone with a dev phone to answer.?
thanks
Okay thanks but wouldn't that just put me back into a bootloop again? using safestrap and towelroot put me in this situation and I don't know what caused this issue and I would like to avoid it at all if possible on my next attempt. Is it because I didn't unlock the bootloader?

You can't unlock the bootloader on a retail Note 3.
Towelroot and Safe strap didn't get you in this situation.
You need to do a bit more research and read up before continuing.
All we have is root.
Safe strap is needed to run custom roms.
There are no custom kernels available since the bootloaders locked.
So don't try to use cwm.
Try to get your phone in download mode and odin the stock tar then root again and install Safstrap 3.75 build 4.

Failed to root galaxy S5 usning ODIN

Hello, I have tried both ways to root my Galaxy S5 and when I try and update the firmware via my old way using my phone, it says my phone has been altered. I attempted to use a root only app and i was prompted i needed a rooted phone to use it. When I went in to use towelroot, after clicking "make it ra1n" I was prompted "you should have root, no reboot required". Is my phone rooted and how do I know if it is and how do i use different roms on my phone?

Do you have a G900F or a different model? To flash customs roms you don`t need root as these roms are pre rooted allready. You only need to flash a custom recovery so you can flash these roms and get root anyway

Can't get into recovery

It all started started when I tired to root my phone again. I used cf auto root instead of the other method I used last time to root witch didn't work (it failed ) and also got me stuck in a bootloop so I tried rooting again with ShinySide's root and my phone works and is rooted but know when I try to go into recovery it shows me a failed cf autoroot everytime
Hello and thank you for using Q/A,
please try flashing the stock ROM again and root your phone using a guide here on XDA.
