When I use my bluetooth (Jabra) device to make a call, it brings up S-Voice. How can I change it to bring up Google voice?
Thanks
Double click home button and select Google. If it doesn't prompt you to choose clear defaults in s voice under applications. Just a thought I don't have that blue tooth but I use Sena smh10 and that worked for me.

Thanks, but I tried that and going through every menu setting there is.
Can't find a way to set it anywhere.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 with Android 4.3 (Samsung official ROM).
My solution was this:
- Disable "S Voice" under the Application settings
- install "Home2 Shortcut" from the GoogleStore and set it up so that you can double-tap the home button to launch Google Now Voice Search. I guess if you only want the bluetooth device to search, you could skip this app installation
- install "Bluetooth Launch" and select >Google Search > com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox.VoiceSearchActivity
Connect your Bluetooth device and perform the action for your voice command (for mine its a long button press on the bluetooth headset). Set "Bluetooth Launch" as your default. Now it should open Google Now for you, with your device immediately listening for your input.
Credit for this solution goes to Benjamin Rosas, an Android user who posted this solution under the review of the Bluetooth Launch app in the Google Play Store.
Worked for me, hope it works for you too!

I achieved the same functionality without extra apps.
1. Application manager > scroll over to 'All' > S-Voice
2. Force stop, Turn Off, clear data, clear cache
3. Application manager > scroll over to 'Turned Off' > S-Voice
4. Turn On
5. Open S-Voice app and hit 'Confirm' 'Agree' 'Skip' to skip the intro tutorial, then turn on 'Double Tap Home Launch' in settings if it isn't already on. (But I think it's on by default)
6. Close S-Voice and go to homescreen
7. Double-tap home button
8. A menu to "Complete action using:" pops up, pick Google instead of S-Voice, and 'Always'.

Worked perfectly. Definitely prefer this approach over using an unnecessary app.
This doesn't work for me. Enabled Google Now. Did the above. There is no option to select. It's always SVoice

Galaxy S4 issues with Bluetooth
I'm new and found your forum. You all seem like you know what you are doing and I thought I'd run this random question by you. I've disabled S-Voice on my Galaxy S3 because I don't use it. I own a Smith helmet with Skullcandy Bluetooth Kit and a cheaper wire line Skull Candy kit. Any accidental long press activates S-Voice while I'm listening to music. It always interrupts a song and then I have to take off my gloves, pull my phone out of my jacket and exit S-Voice. It happens numerous times a day every day. It happens if my collar of my jacket bumps my Skull Candy device or because I'm wearing gloves and don't have much dexterity to know if I'm pressing it. Any idea on how to disable a long press or am I just stuck with this?
Thanks!

So to Settings --> More --> Application manager --> Swipe to the right (to all) --> Find the app that opens (I guess Phone) --> click Clear defaults.
That's it, the pop up should be there again.
If it helped Click Thanks.

Good day
I accidentally forced closed wifi direct services via the app manager and can't get it to restart.
I can send stuff to my S4 but can't receive.
Please advise
A reboot might work.

Nope tried that
Did you disable them or just closed? If you disabled, you have to enable it again to make it work
Go to: Settings - General - Application Manager - Swipe to top right window (Disabled) and look if you find it from there. If yes, then select it and tap "Enable"
Then reboot maby required(?)
I'm not sure can those even be disabled, but check this anyway, you wont lose anything
It wasn't disabled just force stopped in application manager

Hey there,
I have a Mate 8 Chinese version. Build Number NXT-AL10C00B592. My Phone is rooted.
My goal is to replace the HiVoice with the Google Assistant.
What I've done so far:
- Remove the HiVoice App described as here https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/how-to/how-to-replace-hivoice-vocal-assistant-t3465522/amp/
Even this was a P9 article, I gave it a try. Well.. the HiVoice is gone now.
- Installed the Google app, configured the speech assistant. In order to do this I had to set the Google Assistant as default assistant in my app settings. (apps - settings - default app - assistant - assistant-app =Google). Once this was done I was able to press the Home-Button to activate the Google Assistant. Awesome.. I thought so.. after approx. 15 minutes, it wasn't working anymore. The default assistant app was set to None..
So I thought it is maybe because of the Depp-sleep-device-idle Huawei-special-whatever.. so I tried to disable this one via adb.. works fine.. my WhatsApp messages arrive immediately, even if the app is closed.. yay, but that was not my goal..
I am at the end of my knowledge. Do you guys have any idea how to set the Google Assistant as default permanently? Maybe there is a config file that I could modify or something..
Thanks mates,
Shyarly
I'm experiencing the same problem here, and I'm also looking for solutions. I tried using Ice Box and successfully disabledthe Hivoice App. After playing around for a while Iwould say that force stopping the Google app would reset the assist app to none. I tried setting the assist app to Cortana and force closing it but the setting remains. On the other hand however, In my experience on a global model it seems the Google app (as a system app) cannot be force stopped, unless you disable and re-enable it, which also causes the assist app to be reset. maybe there's a switch that makes the google app persistent, and I hope that helps.
I seem to be able to solve this issue, but I'm on EMUI 8.1 and on P20Pro, not sure if it's suitable for your case - probably it's the same case for all recent Huawei phones (Chinese ver.) so I just post it here:
1. Go to settings > Apps & notifications > Apps > Google > Advanced > Set write system setting to "Yes".
2. On the same page, change the Google app launch to "Manage manually" and turn on Auto-launch, Secondary launch, and Run in background.
3. If you still have HiVoice installed, just turn off the write system setting permission on HiVoice in case it's overwriting the Google voice command.
I have checked in an hour or two so far, tried to restart my phone too, the default app for voice is still with Google and "OK Google" works smoothly. Still with one flaw, once you call the Google assistance, don't close/clean it otherwise the setting will be reset.
Thanks to Ronald.Cheng I have followed your first step and decided to add my own steps and so far I have been using my phone for whole day and even restare how I modified the setting.
1. Go to settings > Apps & notifications > Apps > Google > Set write system setting to "Yes".
2. Go to settings > Apps & notifications > Apps > Google > Battery > uncheck "close after the screen locked"
If it is possible, repeat 2. On assistant
I hope it works with your Huawei.
Same problem unsolved
Hello,
I have a honor note 10 (Chinese mui 8.2) and the same problem. First I struggled to install and use Google assistant and had to force enable it, and now it works until it resets itself. I followed the instructions below but I doesn't seem to do anything. Is there any way I can make Google a system app or with similar rights using adb or whatever ?

I am using igo nextgen on android hu. Maps etc all work. When I use tts sound I select it and get the voice(test). But when I use it I get no voice announcements for warnings ie speedcams only a beep. Sometimes during the journey as well the voice does not finish a sentence etc. Removed phoneme files as says to but no luck.
Can someone help me as getti g so annoyed now. Wanted tts working correctly with speedcam/overspeed etc alerts.
If I use a normal voice then navigation speech works fine. But when comes to speedcams I get a continuous beep. Can this be solved?
Please tell us your specs of device you are using (headunit info).
It is probably issue with sound in factory settings of device (hidden menu)
Where was igo installed from, plsystore or others?
Fixed this issue, but how do I stop it autostart when turn on from ignition

You have infotainment menu ? If yes, it's there somewhere.
Doesn't have that menu
Have these settings and hidden ones.
Try in hidden ones or developer menu if exists. Please shoot a video of whole menus and lists for better understanding.
Photos above show the menus I have. As can see I can't see anything. How get into developer options? Can see mjz but what it do and needs a different password

track down on internet what does do and how to get past password, must be some data about it on net
Done that why I'm asking here. From things on here many others have had same issue and get no answer
Picture this mjz menu step by step and please write down CPU-Z info on your model here
Mjz settings in picture below. Dont have cpu-z info. But know it's an allwinner quad (sun8iw11). 2/32 ram/memory. Got system working but nav auto starts when turning ignition on and system load up. I have nav app attached to navi button. If I don't and leave blank, would this stop it as nothing assigned to the button that assume is linked to the system generated startup system.

Ok, you have google play store or some store to download apps and install them or navigation app is preinstalled with unit ?
Navigation was preinstalled. But I backed up the APK and reinstalled with all updates etc do make it work with new maps. I have playstore available. I have tried other nav apps like Waze. These are not set as Navi button. These do not autolaunch when key in ignition. So is it due to fact that what app is set as Navi button in settings will autoload.

Try to download better or different version of Igo , maybe it will correct itself or go to settings on Igo settings if you have option autostart with system or android or something like that.
