[Q] Q.... Note 3 UI sounds within the Gallery App - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

please help.
I have KITKAT 4.4.2 on my galaxy Note III . i have been looking for a specific UI sound and i could not find it.
the sound usually plays when you are within the gallery application and you ( touch and hold ) any picture or video for selecting / deselecting more than one element to move or delete .....etc it sounds like a tick or click some how .
any way if any one of you guys have an idea where that sound might be? please tell me because i have searched for it in the following directories and i could not find it >> system/media/audio/(UI,Ringtones, allarm, notification)
here is a picture explaining what process was going on regarding the Question

DSP Manager

My Tab suffers from low volume & mediocre audio from the speaker specially when watching certain movies. Ive been looking for an app to control audio volume and EQ and found an app called DSP Manager (current version 2.2).
It features a beautiful interface, installs without a problem but doesnt seem to have any effect when applying EQs... the sound is always the same. HAs anyone else succesfully installed this app on a galaxy Tab and make it work? Id love to be able to use it on my Tab.
On a side note, are there other similar apps that do the same job volume/EQ that work on the Tab?
Thanks in advance for the input!
I think in order for dsp manager to work u need to modify the libaudio.so files, maybe u can extract those files from the cyanogenmod release and push them on your device but best wait for a dev to look at this or post a request in the development section
Swyped from my sexy galaxy tab
Yeah, best wait for a dev to look at this thread or maybe get a request in the development section... extracting those files from the cyanogenmod release and push them on my Tab is all too intense for me... I just dont know how to do it and would not dare venture...

[Q] [i9505][Tweak] Modify Gallery Touch Sound

Hi,
Im not much of a developer or have any know-how in this field.
I was hoping someone could help with providing instructions or places to look for a way to modify the touch sound for when using the Gallery app?
> the sound it makes is a water droplet/tap sound "tap.ogg" -> this is located under the APK, not sure how it is integrated with the system once installed, have had no luck digging deeper into the gallery3d config.
> the sound I wish to replace it with is the file : "Highlight.ogg" located under system/media/audio/ui
> So far I have found the app settings for Gallery which is located under /data/data/com.sec.android.gallery3d
I'm not sure how one would go about modifying this, as currently i've been changing the sounds for UI by copying the sound file I wish to use, located under system/media/audio/ui then overwriting the new sound file over the current one. This has worked a treat, and so far i'm happy that i've now swapped out the water droplet/tap sound with an alternative sound for the UI -minus the gallery sound.
Any help on this would be appreciated.
Thanks
Zac

[Q] [Bug report] How to preserve custom ringtones on update?

Hi
[EDIT] my phone = I9300, OmniRom = latest (with a maximum of google apps disabled/alternatives preferred)
I can't quite figure that one out:
On every single system update, I lose my settings in terms of my custom ringtones, alarms...
I tried 3 different ways:
- I copied them into System/media/audio/ringtones & alarms --> after every update, my custom sound files cannot be found anymore and are therefore not available to select from Settings > Sound > Phone ringtone & Default alarm sound
- so then I copied them into sdcard/media/audio/ringtones & alarms --> althought they remain there after every update, they are not available from Settings > Sound > Phone ringtone & Default alarm sound
- so finally I copied them into extSdCard/media/audio/ringtones & alarms with the same effect: althought they are still there after every update, they are not available from Settings > Sound > Phone ringtone & Default alarm sound
Somehow this looks like a bug to me...
Can someone please explain how I can preserve my custom ringtones after system updates?
Thank you VERY much
beng
How did you copy them? It might be a selinux/permissions problem.
For reference, I haven't had any problem on my Nexus 5 (all internal ext4 with emulated sdcard) with
Code:
[email protected]:/ # ls -lZ /sdcard/Alarms/
-rw-rw---- root sdcard_r u:object_r:sdcard_internal:s0 Luminescence.ogg
Code:
/sdcard/Alarms, /sdcard/Ringtones, /sdcard/Notifications
Those are directories especially for custom sounds, which of course will survive ROM updates. Why don't you put them there?

done just that: my custom sounds don't even show up (Settings > Sound > Phone ringtone & Default alarm sound), nor after a reboot!
honestly this is a major bug as far as I am concerned - I keep missing my phone calls as the ringtone will default to none, makes the whole point about having a mobile pointless!!!
Until you can give steps to repeat, that someone else can repeat, it appears to be a problem that is specific to your phone and configuration. If it were a significant bug, you wouldn't be the only one claiming it was impacting them.
Nothing personal, but unless you can replicate this on a fresh install, without additional software, and document how to repeat it, it likely will never be considered an OmniROM bug. One you can do that, a JIRA is perhaps the right way to raise attention on the issue.
As a note, opening additional threads will more likely get you labeled as whiner than get faster resolution. One is plenty.

Hi jeffsf
well I thought the steps were clearly detailed in my initial post?
The custom sounds I would like to set up as custom ringtones / alarms are snippets edited out of full mp3 songs (generally a loop edited out of the intro); If i use the default (boring) sounds provided, I keep my settings.
I first copied my custom snippets into System/media/audio/ringtones & alarms ; this works until I reboot following a new nightly update, my settings are lost; the ringtone is back either to the default one or to none (worse option as I miss my phone calls - I cannot work out a rule as to the default ringtone/none reset, sorry!); my custom sound files cannot be found anymore in the ringtones folder and are therefore not available to select from Settings > Sound > Phone ringtone & Default alarm sound
My second attempt was then to copy them into sdcard/media/audio/ringtones & alarms ; although they remain there after the reboot following any new nightly update, the settings are lost from Settings > Sound > Phone ringtone & Default alarm sound.
So my third attempt was to copy the snippets into extSdCard/media/audio/ringtones & alarms but it had the same result: although they are still there after every update, my previous settings are lost and the snippets cannot be selected from Settings > Sound > Phone ringtone & Default alarm sound ...
After all these tests, I am even more confused; I do not know/understand for sure what folders Android uses primarily / secondarily for ringtones / alarms...

I do get the point! Not my intention to whinge but as explained, there is not much point in having a silent phone!
First I asked a question (support); clearly no working solution can be provided
so I take it to the next level: software correction requirement (indeed JIRA can be the software to use for this - this is actually what I am using at work!)
Or the solution is to choose another rom, shame really...

Your observed behavior is clear in your first post, so there is no reason to repeat it. It adds no information by doing so.

A tiny snippet of new information. But still, you haven't identified what format you are using on the device or how you are copying the files into the directories you are using, only on your source.

Or clearly it isn't a problem with the ROM. If it were a general problem with the ability to set and retain ring tones, there would most likely have been at least one other person who reported similar problems as you.
Unless you can replicate this (a) from a clean install, (b) without other software installed, (c) using a directory intended for the function, (d) clearly identifying how and where you have set the ring tone, and (e) how you updated, it most likely isn't a ROM bug.
GIven that this isn't impacting anyone but you from what I can tell, I would look at your own software, configuration, or use as the most likely cause.
Note also that two people in this thread have already clearly identified directories for these files that do not have the issues you mention.
unsupported audio format?
Hello,
I built omnirom from last sources and I I was in the same situation. My mp3 wasn't recognized anymore (regression? developper choix? I don't know)
Workaround: I converted them into ogg format, and it works like a charm (on my HTC Explorer).
Hi
Hey, for the first time I realise yesterdays nightly (20141030) solved this ongoing issue I had given up on:
it preserved my custom ringtone and alarm and I did not need to reset my ringtone & alarm after the update as I do after EVERY SINGLE update - a pain really!
Please keep it as such - thanks A LOT
cheers

Nothing has been changed that would affect this.
Also, you probably stopped getting responses because your responses were inconsistent. Post 3 provided the standard location where these files should be placed.
In post 4 you claimed exactly that, EXCEPT that in Post 6, none of the directories in post 2 were in your list of things you tried...
In the end it really doesn't matter. Your device is getting dropped with L as it hasn't had a maintainer in months and there is no one to fix I9300 issues.

I can only report it works now.
Post 1 were the initial steps I took
I did as advised in post 3 ; this was post 4
Post 6 was only a repeat of post 1, not including steps from post 4, but these were carried out too, to no avail too.
Just forget it now.
Thanks

audio recordings seem to have a metallic sound . It just happens to me ? For the rest great Rom Thank you Albe95
Good. I leave you my first impressions after a few hours.
It is the best rom I've tried so far (not counting small bugs) and it is something very special. The little interference by Samsung in the system. I mean, this rom is the closest thing to a gpe I've seen. Yes, suitably themed and optimized for the device. With apks (the samsung) adapted to the system. Consumption, for the moment, is very good. Do not overheat (at least to me) nothing at all. Consumption of ram still somewhat high, opening or running aimlessly applications or reason, but that's because of the base made by Samsung (including kernel which is part) assume that sooner or later, cooks or Samsung itself will with the key in the kernel. Because this problem does not occur in the GPE. And I insist (the qie have tasted GPE lollipop give me the reason, I think, lol) is the closest thing to a stock of Google! !!! But darn well finished and themed. This is what Samsung should have done years ago !!!! Something similar to what Motorola has accomplished in its new range ... is ****, ***** or whatever you want to call it that have not made us a lollipop like this in our devices. And look who must be infinitely easier than we currently have, for being less intrusiba. ..
I told u applause for Samsung and 3 super cheers for super Albe95 by this potability! !!!
PS: I made totally clean, formerly of the Black edition (Spanish base SamMobile) and after that installation, thorough cleaning before installing this. For if you guides to improve the working temperatures ...
With titanium I uninstalled everything I could from Samsung (what little left albe) and have frozen the rest, as the calendar. Working with that of Google, which allows to directly call phone records dating.
i can't download ur rom from the mega.
@Albe95 ,i can't download ur rom from the mega. so u can give me the other mirror? thx!
Do not flash N4 Camera .zip !

Also, list of bugs found so far:
- settings for messages have white text
- phone crashes when accessing "accesibility" in settings and then "answering and ending calls" options - error msg: "com.android.phone has stopeed"
- some smart gestures don't work - palm swipe to capture and direct call
- contacts crash when try to open some contact - exactly ones which were just merged, with pictures
- in UPSM when trying to acces settings, it crashes - error msg: "unfortunately, Launcher has stopped",
- also, after turning UPSM on, hangout app crashes - no big deal though
- also, after exiting UPSM I have to sign again into some apps, like cloud magic (email client, it forgets all the email accounts that were set, thankfully those are store on their server, so simple login brings them back)
- also after exitings UPSM weather widget is gone from locksreen (until refresh of the weather app)
- display -> screen mode -> instead of exemplary picture it shows only black rectangle
- also not sure if a bug, but in accessibility -> dexterity and interaction an option to wake phone with air gesture is missing, as is in S6 (can't post links yet, but try googling " Wake Your Samsung Galaxy S6 by Hovering Your Hand Over It " article to get the idea)
- also, ambient display does not work when phone is picked up - i.e. lights up the screen when notification arrives, but does not light up the screen when phone is picked
- keyboard keeps forgetting additional languages - can't swipe on space button to switch languages after reboot, have to reeanble them in settings
great otherwise, I'll update this list if I find something else
Is it possible to bring back Homebutton = Recent and Recent = Menu ?
the one from the original Post is not working anymore.
Google Play etc. crashes after I applied the S6 port.
warming
operate the video editor ? I have slight warming in the part of the chamber , continuous heating is not whether it is due to excessive consumption of RAM. sorry my english, im spanish

S Note application and sounds

I’m using S Note app on Note 4. S Note is definitelly the best app for this phone. It is very comprehenshive.
But there is a problem with sounds. It allways plays a (irritating) sound when you turn the page. This sounds cannot be turned off That’s a really big drawback of this application. I don’t understand it, because, it is very easy task for Samsung to add into settings some check box “Turn off sounds”. I don’t belive that Samsung will do it on users demand. (Because I think they even downgraded S-Note in Note 5! ) Or should we start petition for it ?
Or can someone extract original S Note app and remove the sounds? Maybe the sounds are in Assets folder, and replacing the sound with some quiet tone will be possible...
Thanks
