Hi there. I also have an SM-900I S5 bought in Australia. However, I don't have the camera shortcut on the lockscreen unlike other international versions that have it. Do you have it?

SGS4 model numbers? kinda confusing!

Can somebody clear up the model SGS4 numbers we see being mentioned in various threads?
I see i9505 and i9500 and I assume that is the U.S. and non-U.S. versions, or Exynos 8-core and Qualcomm 4-core models, respectively.
I am also seeing model numbers such as SGH-M919, which is my U.S. T-Mobile SG4 (16GB, black) model number.
So, I am assuming that last model number I mentioned is a variant of the i9505, but I don't see that model number anywhere in my documentation.
Can some folks post their model numbers along with the phone carrier, size and color? maybe we can get a clearer picture of what these model numbers and model variants are.
Thanks!
Galaxy S4 I9500 (8-core) (Exynos octa version)
Galaxy S4 Duos I9502
Galaxy S4 I9505 (LTE) (Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 version)
Has anyone tried this method on I9505 MDM firmware? This is supposed to be un-rootable
EDIT::: OOOPS wrong thread

Okay, answering some of my own questions here. Here is a wiki showing the different model numbers:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S4#Model_variants
I9505 is an International model number for LTE versions with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor
The following are U.S. models that are basically the I9505 with differences in software (ROM and enabled radios)
AT&T SGH-I337
T-Mobile SGH-M919
Verizon SCH-I545
Sprint SPH-L720
Some of these may be bootloader locked, so I guess that is important to know if looking to root. Most rooting info I have seen talks only about the I9505 or I9500 international model numbers.
Maybe someone could explain the MDE, MDN, and MDM variants of the I9505 model number?

Samsung galaxy s4 (MDM) rooted w/ official status.

I put my comment in the wrong thread LOL but what I mean is the MDM kernel ... I have MDM firmware but my kernel date is April 12 which is not MDM. The date of the MDM firmware + Kernel... should say 25/26th April...

Korean versions are SHV-E300K, SHV-E300L and SHV-E300S for KT, LG and SK telcos respectively
So is it alright to use mods/roms as long as it is for the same cpu model?

If you have access and can buy 9500 and 9505 at the same price which would you get?
Which one is better between the two to get for the long run?

CF-Auto-Root for Note 3 N9005

Hi.
I'm trying to root my Galaxy Note 3, MS N9005, Android 5.0
BuildNumber LRX21V.N9005XXSGBPL6 for the first time - and getting lost already.
Trying to download "CF-Auto-Root" I am led to
autoroot.chainfire.eu
There I've found a very long list of Samsung - devices.
I picked the only one for Galaxy N9005 (which has a different BuildNumber than mine though
"samsung SM-N9005 / hltexx / hlte / MSM8974 / msm8974 / LRX21V.N9005XXUGBOA / 55.027 106 545 / Download / f6479469f07a4be9c347c74e1cbf11902 343 877"
I click "download" and come to:
desktop.firmware.mobi
There I enter N9005 and get four options:
1)
samsung / Galaxy Note3 / sm-n9005 / hltedx / hlte / msm8974
2)
samsung / Galaxy Note3 / sm-n9005 / hltevj / hlte / msm8974
3)
samsung / Galaxy Note3 / sm-n9005 / hltexx / hlte / msm8974
4)
samsung / Galaxy Note3 / sm-n9005 / hltezh / hlte / msm8974
Which is the correct one for my smartphone?
Can anybody help?
Thank you!
Malue
Use phone info to check your right model.

samsung / Galaxy Note3 / sm-n9005 / hltexx / hlte / msm8974
That one .
Thank you very much!!!
I'm a little insecure though wether or not I should risk to root my Note 3...
Is there an easy and safe explanation on how to do it that you would suggest?
Regards, Malue
Why do you want to root ??
I would like to make the phone louder and to use both speakers ("surround" or stereo together with the earspeaker)
... and get rid of unwanted software
... and in general I'm curious to find out what other functions would bei available like getting Android 6 or 7 etc.
I would flash TWRP recovery via Odin then flash supersu.zip from custom recovery .
So I won't bei using CF-Auto-Root if I flashed my phone via TWRP recovery?
Is there a page with a description an the links for this setup? "flash TWRP recovery via Odin then flash supersu.zip from custom recovery ."
And is there a way to do the rooting with a mac?
Thanks, Malue
Use either to root.
