[Q] Copied to Clipboard - No PopUps - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

On my Note 3; when I take a screenshot via Power + Home button; it takes the screenshot and then a few seconds later I got a popup at the bottom saying that, "Copied to Clipboard".
This is annoying when I have to take a bunch of screenshots in a row (for like a game) and the second screenshot is ruined because it captures the message "Copied to Clipboard"
Anyone know of a way to just take the screenshot without it displaying that, "Copied to Clipboard" message at the bottom of the screen?

I'm also annoyed by this, and will post back if I find the answer first.

I'm searching for solution to tbis too, but can't find any...HELP!

There are a couple of xposed modules that I believe you can charge toast options (even on a per app basis I believe) I've never used then but I could have swore I saw them in passing. I'm at work now and I'll have to try and find it later
Sent from my SM-N900V using XDA Premium HD app

You could use the Xposed module UnToaster, written by XDA member "egingell".
Tomek Kondrat writes, in part:
In the real world, toast is delicious and practically everybody is a fan. The situation’s a little different when it comes to toast notifications in Android ... . XDA Senior Member egingell was annoyed with constant toast notifications, so decided to use his programming knowledge to create a module to block them.

I like how he compares real toast with Android toasts.
P.S. I know I've resurrected this thread after about a year; but I believe I have added useful new information.

[Q] Complete action using

I hope I don't get eaten alive for this question. I tried to search for a solution but searching the entire forum yields entirely too many results, and searching within this specific sub-forum yields nothing helpful.
Is there a mod that will change the "Complete action using" dialog to remove the extra click after selecting the desired app when I do not want to set a default app? In other words, I don't want to have to click the "Just once" button every time I select a link, but only for certain links.
I understand that this is a direct result of Apple and their patent whoring. It apparently is the reason the Evo LTE was delayed, but luckily, a work around was quickly released. Here is that thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1702140
Here is a screenshot of the menu on my Evo after the modification was applied.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/mhdvtui27sihbg4/2012-08-07 18.56.47.png
I still would like the ability to set a default for certain things (using the radio button), but for the links that I don't, I really hate having to push the "Just once" button each time. That extra click is driving me absolutely nuts!

App idea: Alt+Tab style, single click switch to previous app. Exist already?

I I have looked all over for an app to do this but have found nothing. I am ready to start writing my own, but want to make sure it doesn't exist already? Seems hard to believe no one has done this yet!?
say i need to copy/paste listing descriptions from evernote into ebay... I want a QUICK trigger, maybe double tapping home or something that shows a simple app list in a transparent overlay.
Pick the ebay app and it loads. After pasting the title there, double tap home again and instantly, it flips back to Evernote where I can repeat this process with the description and other fields. Maybe the volume key could flip between the two apps, or better yet, a swipe.
Seeing how I use that technique a million times a day, it would save countless hours over all the other task manager types that always load a display of all (or none) of the recent apps when triggered. I don't know about everybody else, but there's a 90% chance that if I want to quickly flip to another app, it's because I intend to quickly flip right back in a few seconds.
This is such a vital function for me on computers that I dedicate a whole button on my mouse to pressing Alt+Tab so I can flip back and forth very fast. I have become very spoiled by that technique and can't stand doing work on Android just because of its annoyingly slow and painful "task manager" if you can even call it that. TIA!

I am sorry, but you cannot override the home button.
You could try one of the various side bar apps though.
It could be a swipe gesture or anything that requires only ONE step. I don't want to bring up an app selection list on every switch, but just the first time. Maybe a notification bar button could bring up the selector, then a side swipe gesture could flip back and forth between the two apps? It should be simple to write this. I just cant believe that it hasn't already been done? Surely someone knows of an existing app?

The problem is that the part of the screen which will be "swipeable" will not react to touch events anymore.

Yeah. But it could be a small invisible hotzone like many of the task managers do. Swiping is just for the cool factor really. Using the volume button should work just fine for my needs. Would that work? The volume button can still listen to an app thats not in focus because music players do it right? But i guess that would be a problem if one of the switched apps overrides the volume control...? Any suggestions? If nobody has pointed out an existing app with this capability I will start on it tonight. I'm still a newb to Android but, I am majoring in programming so I gotta jump in on something!

if I understand correctly you just want to have multitasking without having to hit the multitask button and then choose the app; you just want to be able to choose the app. I would say something like floating folders would work for you.

[Q] Notification tray view problems (Screenshots attached)

Hello All!
I am a nexus 4 user since the past 1 year or so. unrooted. running 4.4.2...
suppose whenever I capture a screenshot, the added functionality of sharing it through the notification tray itself by touching 'Share' keeps disappearing and re-appearing for some days. The disappearance is sort of for a prolonged time. And its seriously frustrating to open the gallery to share the screenshot when I am unable to share it through the notification tray itself.
Morover, while using Google Play Music, the function of going back to previous song through the notification tray itself also disappears and reappears for some days.
The disappearance of both happen simultaneously. Both appear for a no of days but disappear for weeks!!!
These 2 are the only egs I can explain. Some other apps notification also get affected in terms of view due to this kind of bug. (ike I am unable to view Whatsapp conversations on the notification tray itself and on other days it shows 'n conversations from n people')
Pls go through the screenshots to get an idea of the problem my device is encountering. I hope its clear....
Pls suggest what should I do to remove this!!!
Any kind of suggestions/fix will be helpful...
Thank you.
(the screenshots maybe dated old, but the problem is happening still now...even after upgrade to kitkat)

This isn't a problem, it's a feature. I think it's called "expandable notifications". Using two fingers, slide the desired notification downwards (be it music, whatsapp or a screenshot) and you should be able to see the extra options. When a notification is in "compact" view, it doesn't have many options, and sometimes none at all.
About the appearance and disappearance, I think it's about how many notifications you have and which one happened first.

Hey
Thanks alot for telling me about that two-finger slide on notifications. I didn't know that. I am able to see the extra options now after using 2-finger-slide. I'll use it daily till I dont require for the extra options to show..
But these extra options do appear without the use of two finger slide on notification on some days. Like immediately after taking the screenshot but not using two-finger slide. and what happens in my phone is that the notification changes to compact view automatically after a few days(even if its only 1 notification)
Agreed about the last point, I knew it before but didnt mention.
Thanks for the information though. It really was helpful.:good:

just correction, on lastest android(I can´t remember where it started) 2 fingers is not needed, just one

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S4 -- Turn off Pop-up Notifications?

I have a question that would seemingly be simple to answer, but it's proving to be quite perplexing. I've searched everywhere but have been unable to find a solution or any reference to this issue whatsoever. I even called AT&T, and AT&T technical support didn't know what to do.
Basically, I notice that, whenever I receive a text message, take a screenshot, or any other action really, a pop-up message appears in a dark-grey box at the bottom of the screen. For a text message, it will read: "SMS Received: <Then the Content of the Message>." When I take a screenshot, a notification (at the bottom of the screen) will appear that reads: "Copied to Clipboard." These notifications are intrusive and annoying because they slow down the other operations of the phone. Everything else gets delayed. So if I'm in a texting conversation with someone, my reply to said person is delayed while the phone displays a notification at the bottom of the screen. I can't type my response while this action is taking place. Please note that this notification at the bottom of the screen is in addition to the notification that occurs in the status bar at the top of the phone.
I have searched everywhere in the phone settings for a reference to this feature and, in turn, a way to turn it off; but I have been unsuccessful. Can anyone please tell me how to turn off this troublesome notification feature?
Attached to this request, I have included a screenshot to illustrate the matter to which I'm referring. Please notice that, at the bottom of the screenshot, the words "Copied to Clipboard" are displayed. This is the pop-up that occurred after I had taken a screenshot of the home screen. Thank you for whatever assistance you may be able to provide.
On a stock device that isn't rooted you cannot stop the toast messages. If rooted, install the Xposed framework and use the UnToaster module.

Thank you for your reply. I really appreciate your time, although I wish there were an easier solution to this issue.
Just curious -- Is "toast message" the official term for such a notification, or is that your own terminology?
Rooting and using Xposed IS the easiest way to solve this. Otherwise you'll have to decompile system files, which from personal experience is very time consuming. Not to mention annoying.
Toast messages is official Google terminology. See http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/ui/notifiers/toasts.html .

Double tap+slide down from status bar opens QS with one swipe

I accidentally stumbled upon this today, wasn't sure how I did it, kept tapping and swiping till it happened again. In addition to this, I've also found that swiping up from on or below the nav bar hides QS and/or notifications with just one swipe. However, I can't seem to reproduce this 100% of the time.
Edit: 2 short rapid fire tap-swipes(down) on the status bar will produce the same outcome as "double-tap + swipe-down". Thanks to nednednerb

The double tap isn't actually doing anything. The first tap opens the 6 toggles, the second tap and swipe opens QS as they normally would. You can just swipe down with 2 fingers to open the QS directly.

Not on my phone. a single tap drops the toggles and they instantly fold right back up (they wont stay down). but a double tap drops the toggles and they stay down, then with an additional swipe down QS expands further. and finally with the double-tap+swipe down (or single tap+single tap&swipe down i get the QS right off the bat. i've tried several different ways to make this work and this has always been the final outcome...for me at least.
fyi im running stock rom (x-ota)

root
twrp
and substratum (not sure this would have any affect or not)

The first tap slightly open the QS (it's registering as a partial swipe) and the second tap grabs them, then you're pulling them down.

I feel we are starting to split hairs here, and maybe we are because perhaps it acts differently with different folks. But with my phone (pixel quite black 128 w/ all the goods mentioned above (forgot to mention viper 2.5.0.5 which i cant imagine would have any affect, but who knows, it is a mod afterall)).
So for me it goes as follows -
one-tap = toggles peek
double-tap = toggles stay down and notifications roll down with it
and then if i do an additional swipe down i get QS, obviously
but as mentioned in OP
one-tap, instantly followed by swipe-down (or double-tap+swipe down) i get QS instantly that way.
I would like to add that i say double-tap+swipe-down because i've seen it worded that way over the years i.e. Nova, Root Essentials, etc.
I would ALSO like to add that the entire reason for this post was because over the past 2-3 years (around the end of KitKat, maybe) I've seen the question asked a handful of times how can QS be accessed with one swipe and one finger (or thumb) while being on a stock rom. and yesterday when i did it by accident, it was like discovering a really tiny piece of gold that you weren't even looking for. I smirked when it happened, smirked again when i reproduced it, then came here and shared the wealth.
Seems like allot of extra steps

That's just language tricking the thinker.
The doer.... Flicks the QS open so fast you need a red pill or slow motion camera to catch it.
Steps? I'm there.

Two down swipes is how you're supposed to open QS, you can do it fast or slow. I'm sorry but this is not a hidden feature. The tap is irrelevant since you have to touch the screen to do the swipe.

You should see how my 54 year old friend uses his brand new cell phone, which is also his first computer. His first email addy... I don't think he even aware of notifications as a concept though he is stumbling haphazardly. Wow! Every tap is like a huge sliding long press.
The OP did in first line state "stumbled upon".
LOTS of people value from times and brief reports like this because they learn about device. Cos no one told them "this is how you're supposed go do it, and also this is how many ways you can do it!"
I found this useful. How people understand with language is never irrelevant.

--Typed most of this up yesterday and got sidetracked, glad i waited. nednednerb is right, no point in getting butthurt over something as trivial as this. however the more i think about it, the more i'm starting to think i've been had--
What was supposed to be yesterday's reply:
You seem pretty determined to let us all know how wrong this is, and that's ok with me really, I could care less. But what you need to remember is that there are a lot of inexperienced folks here who are new to Android and/or modding, etc. And if they're here, there's a solid 50/50 chance they're learning or discovering something new for the first time That said, you should really try to focus your energy on encouraging and helping others. You never know man, that one guy/gal may have the answer you've been searching for, but they may decide not to share because their last post embarrassed them. However, if they're completely wrong and they're nearly ready to blow up their device, then by all means step in and stop them.
Also -
"Two down swipes is how you're supposed to open QS" cool new hidden feature is quicker, easier, and there's less hand movement.
"you can do it fast or slow. " hidden feature doesn't do slow, will update as soon as we gather more data
"I'm sorry but this is not a hidden feature." never claimed it was a hidden feature, but if it is, I win
"The tap is irrelevant since you have to touch the screen to do the swipe." double-tap + swipe-down has been around for some time which makes what you said kind of irrelevant
