They have apps on fire tv but can these not run on NVIDIA SHIELD? IF ITS an apk file..
thanks
I've wondered this too, I know that in the early days people had a little success with the Nexus Player for some US on-demand apps. Problem is I've never been able to obtain the exact Amazon apks. Somebody from the UK needs to extract them from a Fire TV. It seems that there isn't nearly as much of an Android TV app deficit in the US any more so the UK apps that you list are the biggest ones still missing from the Android TV ecosystem, at least they are for UK users. The way in which Amazon considers itself to be in such a cut-throat competition with the rest of the Android world, I wouldn't be surprised if they've locked their TV apps down from use on any other Android devices, while they pretty much beg developers to bring their tablet apps over from the Play Store... I digress.
If somebody is willing to extract the apps you list and any of them actually work, this tool would be really useful.
I have Google Play installed on my Kindle Fire HD 8 6th gen, and it shows a nice update available, but it won't update. The Amazon app store doesn't show any updates.
Is there a workaround, or do I just have to wait for Amazon to release an update?
I'm surprised that Amazon doesn't provide the update.
Suggestions?
Apparently Amazon has loaded a slightly different version of the Kindle app on Kindle Fire tablets, so the play store version will not update it. No idea why they did that.
It also frustrates me to no end that the Kindle app on Kindle Fire tablets cannot be locked in portrait orientation, while the Kindle app on every other android device can.
I am thinking about replacing an old tablet with an Amazon Fire HD 10, but I am a little confused about the Fire OS, and the tablet not having Google Play. How does Fire OS relate to the family of Android OS's? Does the Fire OS update as often or keep pace with the Android OS's?
I use Google Play for all my apps, how would I get Google Play and the other Google apps on an Amazon Fire HD 10? Does the Amazon Fire HD 10 need to be rooted to get the Google apps on the tablet? Do Google apps run well on an Amazon Fire 10?
Thanks for any insight on the Amazon Fire HD 10.

Nope, all Google apps run well without root. But, obviously to get it like normal Android, you would need root. Also, the Fire OS does NOT keep pace at all. It is 5.1.1, and still hadn't got 2018 security patches. Got to go now, will explain more later.

I would suggest it 100%. Unless you are in a rush to replace your older tablet, though, I'd just keep my eyes peeled for a sale since they have come down to a $100 a couple of times- but you have to act fast when they do cuz they don't stay around long. I actually prefer it to my Samsung Tablet. Getting the Google Play Store on it is easy and it's fairly simple to root and disable some of the bloatware, though it's not necessary. With Launcher Hijack you can get your preferred Android layout if the Fire Launcher isn't jiving with you (it doesn't with most)

Thanks, it seems like a good tablet from what I've seen. Thanks for the input.
Hello
I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction please.
I'm in the UK and can't install Amazon free time as it's not available over here. I did download the apk but because it's an UK Amazon account it chucks up an error.
When you buy a kindle fire for kids it comes with fire for kids unlimited preloaded.
I just got a Lenovo tab E10 for my kid and already have a subscription to Amazon kids unlimited and want to use it on the new tablet.
A. Is there a way of installing and using kids unlimited in the UK or B. Can I install a kindle ROM on the e10, will it be stable and if so which ROM would be best to use ?
Many thanks
Jeff
Amazon's Fire OS is a custom OS (forked android) specifically for the Fire Tablets. It won't work on another device.

The fireTV Lite stick and the 3rd fireTV Stick are lineageOS supported (unofficial), but amaz. doesn't like this somehow and patch/fix all vulnerable sticks just in the factory (all new sticks) or via updates as soon as internet access is aviable (all older sticks out there). Chance to get a vulnerable stick is still good, if you go into a store or shop and look for the serial number on the sealed boxes (compare serials). Goal is to find a low serial, i.e. old stock. Take a look at this posting (and the thread), to get an idea about the serial thing

Since there isn't any guaranty that all this works out fine... think twice if a fireTV is the right device for you.
Ok, I undestand. Is there an other Android TV stick or an alternative, like a HDMI TV stick?
