Hello All,
I want to know that is GS 4's IR blaster having learning mode ?
Means My friends G2 has it, u can manually configure any remote. It can record signals from other remotes & can transmits them back. So if the TV or whatever device is not in the list u can gate away with this cool functionality. My other friends HTC one is also having the same feature.
Please reply me as I am thinking of buying GS4.. other two i.e. G2 & HTC One are still damn expensive.
Thanks.
No because the S4 only transmits IR signal there is no receiver.

No, you'd need an external FM transmitter. They're pretty cheap, around $10.
EBay has them for a few bucks with free shipping, if you're willing to wait a bit: http://item.mobileweb.ebay.ca/viewitem?index=0&sbk=1&nav=SEARCH&itemId=370788932892

I've a pair of Sony earphones and the mic control doesn't respond, is there a app which I can use to make it work?
Can someone help me please

What model do you have?
Some headphones might not be android compatible. AFAIK, the Sony mh1c mostly works.

I did a quick scan on Google and it looks like those are Apple compatible headphones. Apple and the android manufacturers have different wiring when it comes to functions, it's very rare that you will find headphones designed for Apple products that are fully capable on android handsets.

Hi guys, I used to own a Optimus G. Before buying, I was really happy that it should come with Fm radio. Well, that was a bad joke since it was totally unusable. Although I live in a big German city, I could only listen to like 2 stations, and quality was bad. My girlfriend's xperia zl gets more than 10 stations and quality is quite okay, especially for news. We also tried it with the same headphones, so just Optimus G fm radio is bad.
Has is improved with the G2?
Thanks in advance!

Wish I could tell you... The NA versions of the G2 don't have FM radio out of the box. Maybe a future hack?

Okay for your interest : got the chance to test fm radio at a local store. Exactly the same unacceptable quality as Optimus g. Only found 2 stations and one of them was not even clear. Tried same headset in another phone (xperia z) and found like 20 and could listen to all of them. Really embarrassing for LG that they did not put any effort into this problem.

Did you have a set of headphones in? I ask because sometimes the headphones are used as an antenna.
Is there a way to get a better distance or an app that reaches farther. Watch on never works for me unless I'm up on the TV.
Is it just me or is watchon like that with everyone.
I have an LG TV

The IR sensor seems to be VERY directional....mine can reach from across the room, but I have to litterally point the IR transmitter from my phone directly at the IR receiver on the TV in order for it to work. Same with my DirectTv box. It doesn't spread out like a normal IR transmitter on a remote does, unfortunately.

I agree. I guess I shouldn't complain too much. I just can't seem to ever get in a good line of site.

What apps are the best for this IR ?
Is it me or is the IR Blaster on the Note 4 substantially better than previous Galaxy phones? Or my LG G3 for that matter.
Due to the location of my media cabinet in my living room, I used to have do some creative maneuvering to get the IR blasters on my previous phones to work. With the Note 4, I'm finding that simply pointing in the general direction is good enough to work.
the ir blaster has like 3 times the range of my moms G2. its great.
Yes I agree it's so much better. I had an LG G3 and the ir blaster on the note 3 & 4 work flawlessly compared it. I was never able to control my devices with it.

I don't know if it has 3 times the range because my room is not large enough to test. LOL
However I can say there is a day and night difference in the range compared to my
Note 3, with the Note 3 I had to move my recliner 5-6 feet closer to the TV to get
the remote to working consistently but with the Note 4 I can control the TV even if
I am at the far wall of my front room which is about 8 feet further than my recliner
is located.
Where is the remote on the note 4?

Use the smart remote application which came preloaded on your device for the IR blaster.
Download Samsung watchon. Much better than the stock smart remote

Most all the ir remote control apps work really good on the Note 4.
Here are my favorites which can be found at the google play store.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.watchon.phone.plus
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kabanka.remote.control.tv

There are a lot more to choose from at the play store.
Check em out!
Good luck!
Actually I think the blaster on the Note 3 was a tad stronger.

Don't think so....I have a note 3 and note 4...note 4 is definitely much better and stronger....
I agree I had both note 3 and G3 and this is the first phone I don't even need to point at the TV and it works. I point it anywhere and it gets signal. What a great phone.

There are a few different versions of Samsung Watchon, the latest
one with the most features is "Watchon Plus", it's also at the
google play store.
Just do a search for Watchon Plus at the play store.
I agree the IR blaster on the note4 is leaps and bounds better then the N3. I can sit on my bed with the note pointed straight up and in changes channels. on my N3 it had to be pointed directly at it. I don't know if the distance has been increased or just the spread of the beam has been increased
