1. is it possible to connect your phone (like usb mass storage) to your computer via wi-fi through my network? if so, how? i can sort of get streaming to work through allshare and windows media player but i can not move files , only stream.
2. i have not used samsung media hub yet because i dont want to sit there and watch a movie on a 4" screen. so my question here is , if you rent a movie on the media hub, can it be played on a computer either by usb or streaming?
to help answer these questions, heres my set up:
phone: sprint ( usa) samsung epic. no mods have been done to my phone, everything is factory.
PC: quadcore cpu , geforce gtx 275, 4gb ram, running windows 7 64bit. my pc is hooked up to a westinghouse 47" 1080p monitor.
Search for "xda samba android" in google. Should be like the first link.
I use Websharing and WiFi File Explorer. Look them up.
those apps you mentioned work great for photos ive taken or videos ive recorded, however it does not work with media hub. i tried streaming and it will not find the movie on my device , i hooked my phone up directly to my pc and the movie file is not supported by windows. so im still looking for a way to watch media hub files on my computer. any suggestions?
Nope..Media Hub has the DRM :/...and All share is not compatible..so that ends that.
Im able to stream video via dlna directly from my s3 to my vizio smart tv by hitting the little icon in the corner of the s3's default video player however the s4 has the screen mirroring button there which to my understanding is for samsung tvs exclusively. so my problem is that my new s4 isnt pulling its weight. ive rebooted my tv, router, phones but nothing works. my phone is not recognizing my tv. is there anyway i could install the s3's video player apk? any advice would be appreciated
GOOD NEW, while i cant say i know why the s4 is stupid in the streaming department compared to the s3 heres a solution
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bubblesoft.android.bubbleupnp&hl=en
this app allows you to connect to a dlna tv (obviously one that the s4 cant link with) and stream your media to it. it works even better than the stock s3 video does because it allows you to run it in the background
I was running bubblegum but after flashing MDOB ROM my tv won't recognize my phone. Is there supposed to be a dlna apk or system file I may be missing?
I have dvd player which has usb and I want to see videos on my phone on it. Is there a way that I can share media through usb I have tried selecting media when it connects but it does nothing.

Hey.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 which is not in use anymore. My plan is to use it as a music / podcast player in my workshop.
Can be installed a program that makes the Samsung Galaxy S3 will be part of my network and could be accessed via the network without the Galaxy S3 have to be connected to my computer's USB port with cable.
My wish is to be able to remotely control the Galaxy S3 and copy/delete music onto the phone and SDcard via the network.
I have tried TeamViewer, but I have trouble logging on Galaxy S3 from my desktop computer
I'm sure there is a easy answer to this and I wasnt sure where else to ask. I use a western digital media player to play all my media at home. Normally I have a my hard drive connected to it and use my PC for downloading. My PC has kinda crapped out so I've been using my Note 3 for all my downloading. I'm just wondering if there is a way for me to plug my phone into the media player as a thumb drive to playnmovies off of. I'm sure there is a easy way to do so, also is there a cable I can purchase to transfer files from my smartphone to my hardrive without a PC ? I'm currently running cm12 nighlties if that helps at all. Sorry if this isn't the right place to post this question. Thanks for any help I can get. Cheers.
You need to enable USB Mass Storage, which was removed from Android in 4.1.2.
Not sure if it can be enabled in CM; someone else might know.
As for transferring files between your phone and a drive, you need an USB OTG (On The Go) cable.
