Rooted my LG G2 (ATT) recently. Yesterday i got an error on bootup stating that system UI has crashed.. After that all hell broke loose. Phone when powered on only boots into the TWRP, friend thought he could "fix" the issue by doing a format on the device.. FML. SO now when trying to get into download mode to perform the Stock Rom/Unbrick process it just won't allow me to do anything. It just keeps booting into TWRP.
My laptop has all drivers needed, but phone won't be detected by my laptop..
Anyway how i can get my LG back to stock & working? Didn't have a custom rom or anything, only the Camera Mod which never gave issues..
The system UI came on before i did the Camera Mod by the way..

Holding volume up & plugging in usb cable boots into TWRP.. Holding both vol down & up, while plugging in USB makes device stick on LG logo screen..

Flash a Rom
start at the recovery, go to Advanced, then Terminal Command, press Select, use this code,
dd if=/dev/Zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/fota
Then reboot,this works.

How do i get it off default? & yes i have a mico usb cable.
Copy a Rom on a USB stick and install it in TWRP via OTG, run back into TWRP and enter this line
start at the recovery, go to Advanced, then Terminal Command, press Select, use this code,
dd if=/dev/Zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/fota
That should solve your problem, for me it just works
Only in this way can be turned off Trwp as default and the phone boots normally
Good Luck!

You just have to be careful that you type it correctly,
[Space]
stands for space bar/Space on the keyboard
dd[space]if=/dev/zero[space]of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/fota

Have you tried to use the "sideload" option to see if you can load a rom onto it yet? This requires that your computer sees your phone with the correct drivers and adb working too.
Did you try to do a complete wipe/reboot and see if you can get into download mode?
If none of those methods work then I'm not sure what to tell you. I ran into two problems only so far.
First one was when I accidently wiped everything and had to sideload a rom onto my phone.
Second, I took the OTA update and had the bootloop TWRP problem which was solved by using the LG Flash tool to flash the stock Sprint rom onto my phone by following the directions for the Verizon Method but used a Sprint rom and dll file.
If you can't sideload a rom or get into download mode then you have a major problem there but it could be just that you've overlooked something.

Copy a Rom to Usb and install the Rom via Usb/Otg Cable,it is self to install from internal Storage. You can Select OTG or internal Storage in Recovery to install the Rom.Its easy,I can Backup or install Roms on Otg.
Sorry for my Bad English,i hope you understand me!

nope doesn't work.. Won't connect to PC... It did before fine.. Sideload is stuck at loading screen or something. I'll try loading rom onto USB & from usb to phone once i get an adapter for USB Female to Micro USB.
He got out.
I was stuck in the bootloop for about 6 hours before I realized I had the correct dll, and tot file, the correct utility from LGE, and I turned the noodle of a brick into a "unbranded" phone temporarily, until sprint came to the rescue, and branded everything back from the production image I loaded just earlier. I just wanna say this... DO NOT PLAY WITH PHONE DIALER CODES MEANT FOR THE KOREANS WHO TEST YOUR PHONE!!!
You can brick that **** fast as hell. TWRP kept coming in, and I didn't know how to deal with adb sideload, or the basic dd command to get things back to download mode. Now I have a real working knowledge of recovering from an otherwise hopeless state. Take your time, and explore slowly.
Your mileage may vary, just sayin'

I experienced this situation for a while.
The solution is doing a normal procedure to install custom rom from USB.
Just copy custom rom to USB, choose advanced wipe, then wipe dalvik, cache, data, and system. Then install custom rom in USB, and, reboot phone after installation finished.
Phone should be back to normal again.

***i try second one but i jusy says:dd: can't open '/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/fota': No such file or directory. :crying: ***
So I think I've bricked my G2 while updating with the latest update. Was rooted on stock ROM. Tried to install TWRP recovery but could never get into so, didn't think I had it installed. Installed VooDoo and took the update.
Well, my phone is stuck in a black screen. The LG logo comes on but I can't go anywhere from here. Can go into factory reset but it keeps coming back to the black screen. I've read all the forums and tried flash tool, fastboot, adb.... but no luck. My comp (Win 8) won't recognize the device and I get bunch of Local disks when I plug into USB.
I'm at a loss, total loss. I would really appreciate any help that I can get. Just want to get in hard drive and save some photos if I can't save the phone. Thanks!
try to install the drivers in a windows 7 pc and do it again!!
fixing the black screen boot
google and install koush's universal adb driver.
once you have adb..shell into device
adb shell
then
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/misc
then
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/fota
you should be able to boot your phone now
as far as your recovery and root i dont know, this isnt my solution i dont know exactly who found it, but i watched autoprime talk a user thru this and booting up after in the #lg-g2 irc channel and thought i would put it here to help some folks.
any thanks or beer money should be directed to him or whomever he points to lol
good luck
I have the lg g2 from at&t and yesterday i went from cm10.2 back to the stock backup i had for the g2 and received the OTA update. I didnt think much of it and downloaded it, now i am stuck on the endless loop ending in the TWRP screen, I have about 3 back ups but every time i try to restore it it just ends up back in the recovery screen. I've tried to do what i've found on the forum as far as using terminal command from twrp , but all i get is a list of folders, i tried using adb but because of the phone being in it's current state the drivers wont install correctly on the computer, so it doesnt register. Pretty stuck right now and dont know what else to try or do , any help will be appreciated. thank you
Look this
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451696
I cant do that method because option 1 , adb cant communicate with my phone due to the drivers not being able to install correctly and i tried option 2 but i dont see where to enter the command in terminal command , all i see is a directory of folders
In Twrp,go in Terminal and Press Select
Write this line:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/fota
And go - finish
Here again accurately described
dd[space]if=/dev/zero[space]of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/fota
[Space] stands for space bar
I can't thank you enough for taking the time to help me out with this, thank you and forgive my ignorance with the whole terminal thing i am still new at all of this .
So i update my phone to 4.4.4 following instructions from http://trendblog.net/flash-android-4-4-4-without-wiping-and-loosing-root/.
It worked fine. Though Nexus rootkit could install custom recovery, but root went good.
So i thought i install TWRP through goomanager but it didnt download so i follow instructions from (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2534383)
"In a Terminal Emulator in android with a rooted device
Save it to the root of your /sdcard directly (internal memory only) and rename it to twrp.blob
Launch terminal emulator or connect to your computer and open an adb shell, then type the following:
su
dd if=/sdcard/twrp.blob of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4
Then reboot to complete installation."
NOW THE PROBLEM, i only wrote the command line until "dd if=/sdcard/twrp.blob of=/dev/block/mmcblk" beacuse i accidently pushed enter, damn those small keys... i wrote the full command line again and reboot.
Now it won\t boot up at all, i get a flashing red light when i hold in the power button, volume+powerbutton doesnt work either..
Also i have no backups.
Is this a fixable problem?
Most likely it is not fixable without jtag. You wrote the twrp.image to some random partition. In the future stay away from dd commands unless you really know what you're doing. They can be very dangerous.

mmcblk *should be* nothing, since the main block is mmcblk0
but try to use lgnpst or qpst, just search on google "unbricking nexus 4 with <mode>"where mode is lgnpst or qpst
i managed to do first 7 steps http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/tutorial-how-to-unbrick-n4-t2347060

but the download mode isnt showing up, just get a flasing red led.

Hello guys.
So i installed an xposed module to change keys to Android L style and it asked me to add one line under build.prop
I restarted but my phone stucked at a black screen after the LG logo and only the LED is working.
I tried to shutdown by keep pressing the power button but it restarts again. Pressing "Power" + Volume - key doesn't work. (I think phone must be turned off for this!?)
So i don't know what else to do. I'm running 4.4.2 no custom recoverys i just rooted it.
Please someone help :crying:
keep power key pressed even when lg logo pops up... then it will shut down completely...
btw that build prop line is not for our device (afaik - because i never had to edit build.prop for this mod to work)
i also doubt that this single build.prop line broke the whole rom unless you accidentaly deleted something else in the build.prop code...
anyway, you'll first need the original build.prop for your rom (you can extract it from the rom zip you're using)
but i don't know how can you put it on the device since you don't have a custom recovery
@bender_007 might know this part better

Let me guess. You can't flash the right kdz? There id also tot method with "cracked" dll which allows you to crossflash. Will seek for it after my work time
.
+ power off the device, hold volume up and connect to PC. Then try the lg support Tool.

The problem is I can't enter download or recovery mode. Holding + button and plugging it in just makes the usb sound in windows and the phone shows the battery and starts charging. Is this supposed to happen?
Also I can't find it in device manager.
