[Q] how to root i9506 - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I tried rooting with kingo app and safe root so I dont trip knox. I get unsupported device.

【Q】Will flashing of custom ROM trigger knox after root?

Hi,
i am seeing that currently people are recommending kingo root or vroot, that was claimed that this won't trigger knox flag at all.
After rooting. if i were to flash any custom ROM, will this trigger knox flag?
Thank!

Yes it will. Flashing a custom Recovery and/or a Rom will trip Knox. Kingo and vroot are not full roots. The phone is rooted enough to allow you to customize the stock rom and for applications that require root to work. If you want to flash custom roms, you might as well use the CF Auto Root method and get a full root. That will trip knox but so will what you want to do.
I'm sure it will be trip by KNOX. Keep calm until developer launch triangle away for Note 3 dude.

Or visit the official thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783157 and use the new and improved version.
I have a SM-900F and this doesn't work on it. When I click on the logo inside the app, it says that it is not yet compatible with my device
Same here...This phone isn't currently supported (S5)

First flash old kernel with Odin
https://www.dropbox.com/s/cun1uainm2h07em/KERNEL_G900FXXU1ANE2.tar.md5
And then root your phone using Towelroot
when you done install SuperSu from market
And when your root is okay you can flash latest kernel and enjoy

[Q] (future) CF-Auto-Root vs. Towelroot

Just wondering if anyone would prefer one over the other IFF CF ends up making a Auto-Root for the S5/Active.
The exploit towelroot uses to gain root access is already patched (fixed), so towelroot won't last as long as CF-Auto-Root does.
Despite that most (if not all) will favor towelroot for not triggering KNOX (knox on wood).
Good points! I'm curious how towelroot accomplished not tripping it

[Q] Best root method for the SM-G900F?

What is the best/safest root method for the SM-G900F?
You can try Towelroot.
I prefer CF-Auto Root even though it trips KNOX
what is Knox? I keep seeing it everywhere

you can see knox counter in download mode. it should be: 0x0
when you trip this counter it goes to: 0x1
with that warranty is void. well, in most parts of the world
you can trip knox counter if you flash 1) custom kernel or 2) custom recovery
Most of roms here will trip knox counter, some will not(like Neat ROM from Sale)

Towelroot does not remove knox?
Have not used Towelroot myself so I cannot confirm. I've heard it does not trip KNOX if your firmware is dated June or earlier.

how to know if my firmware's date? is it the kernel version? it says Wed Jul 23
That would be part of it yes. I haven't read much into Towelroot. They could have updated it from last I heard so things could have changed there.

How to root I9500 without tripping knox?

Hello is there a safe method to root i9500 and knox remains 0x0?
Hi,
I think there's no safe root method available. Some people would recommend KingRoot, but I'd regret it because it doesn't work properly on Android Lollipop and KingRoot isn't good as you think.
