I flashed the carbon 4.4 ROM to my us cellular s3 sch-r530 and now the wallet app won't work however I've run numerous apps to test my nfc and can even use s beam but still can't use tap and pay.

Carbon 4.4? This is PAC Rom, not carbon...

Hey all,
I tried searching the forums for this but I didn't seem to find anything:
I literally just got my N4 yesterday, and I have a question about Google Wallet. I'm currently running the stock rom and kernel, and my wallet is working. If I flash a custom ROM, will I have to do anything to ensure my Wallet will work on the new ROM?
I have hardware revision 11 if that matters.
Thanks!

I would suggest going into Wallet > Settings > Reset Google Wallet app before you flash any ROMs or restore backups. Not doing this has been known to brick the Secure Elements of other phones like the Galaxy Nexus.

Almost certain this procedure became unnecessary sometime in late 2012 when Wallet reverted to a cloud based method. I haven't reset wallet for a long time between my Nexus S, Nexus 7, Nexus 10 and Nexus 4 and Wallet has activated and worked fine every single time and have done a decent amount of flashing between all those devices.
I'm still on a stock rooted 4.2.2 Rom and I need to upgrade to 4.4
I've really had no issues with the touchwiz and I'm running the KM kernel, but from what I was told I need to unroot to get 4.4. I don't know if that's true or not, but seeing as you don't have that many touchwiz roms here maybe I should go with ASOP instead? I was looking at the master list of roms but are the roms carrier dependent?
but from what I was told I need to unroot to get 4.4.

You can update your phone through settings (as long as you didn't mess with system files and apps) but you will definitely lose root and get knox.

Yes, roms are carrier dependent (with the exception of CM11 nightly builds, which are now unified across all carriers, the rest provide separate builds for different carriers)

My phone is rooted but running the stock rom, when it came time to upgrade it would not upgrade at all, I forgot what it would hang at but it ended not doing anything, so getting tired of seeing the upgrade was ready to be installed I hid the message.
But now I need the upgrade because of Google Wallet and tap & pay.
So as far as getting another rom I assume I should be just looking under my carries forum here instead of the master list? Now having said that.. OK say I find a ASOP with 4.2 can I just use that instead of unrooting and then doing the update?
In other words installing a custom ASOP rom would still get me on 4.2 as well?

It depends on what version of android the rom features. CM11 for example is a 4.4 KitKat rom so if you install CM11 you would have 4.4 AOSP rom that is close to the original AOSP rom you would find on Google devices.
For some reason I can't boot my phone into recovery.. I'm holding vol up, home and power and I see it saying booting recovery in the upper left but if I keep holding the buttons the screen and the phone just turns back off again.
*edit
I just noticed I use TWRP Recovery so I think I have to start it from the phone being on.
Well this is odd.. OK so I moved the zip file to the root of the SD card and looking at the recovery and it's not listed under the root of the SD card.. I don't get it.
Oh never mind forgot the setting to switch to SD card
Is there a GS5 ROM for the Sprint GS4?
I've been looking around and all the other variants have some kind of GS5 ROM.
and if not is there a theme that I can flash to make my GS4 Look more like a GS5?

None of Sac's roms V3 or V4 work on Sprint SPH-L720, tested by me. I was able to installed Version 3 and boot to it but Wi-Fi radio On/Off function does not work, Screen Mirroing does not work NFC does not work...useless. after all credit to Sac23 for his dedication and hard work to the community. hope next version is better and fixes all the bugs.

Could also be user error really. Did you make sure you are at the latest firmware? Follow step by step on how to install? Also recovery plays a big role now so yeah.

Yes, I have TWRP 2.7.1 installed, My phone is rooted using Towelroot. I have installed many rooms just to try, (this is my spare test phone) I was happy with results look and feel of only two (PhoeniX.ROM.V9.XXUGNF1.I9505.FIXED.by.tamirda) and (i9505 - S5 RivalStorm V2.1) but both only allow Radio/Modem for CDMA and are both international.
RivalStorm V2.1 seems to be the best room out of 5 or 6 I have tried, this room has every feature working and has the look and feel of the S5, that being said I will try your recommendation anyways and will post back my results, I did tried it before but I could not get it installed using TWRP, maybe I should use CWM instead.
But honestly I would be very happy to see RivalStorm V2.1 rom being domestic (US Carier...Any)

Sacs V4 works flawless on my L720. Do you have the 720T? Are you on the NAE build? if not, it is highly recommended you flash that version then follow the OP to the T.

Please note that using the hotspot on 3G WILL stop when you receive/send a call. If you're on LTE, you should be able to use the hotspot and call people. This is NOT ROM specific.
So I have another galaxy s4 in the house and it's code name is jflteaio i337z but the thing is the model number is the same as crickets galaxy s4 so dose that mean I could root it and download twrp recovery for it in the name of the Cricket model?

I have an SGH-i337z on Cricket and I was able to root and install TWRP using hroark13's method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...cket-aio-sgh-i337z-jflteaio-twrp-2-7-t2858698)
I've been trying various CM builds, the Google Play Edition ROM and PACMAN, but they all seem to have issues (5GHz WiFi, one app or another not working properly, notification glitches). To be fair, they are AT&T ROMs. Also, it takes a bit of work to install as you have to remove the asserts line from each ROM before installing. But if you just want to root and use TWRP to backup it works fine!

Just out of curiosity, was the GPE ROM you tried the Lollipop one? Also, are there any roms for this phone that work well and stable in your experience?
I haven't tried any lollipop roms yet. The 4.4.4 kitkat GPE ROM was stable with the exception of breaking a music streaming app I use (subsonic). It was also the only ROM that identified the carrier as Cricket instead of AT&T.
Pacman I didn't really like so i can't speak much for its stability.
CM11 can be hit or miss. The nightly seem more stable than the stable or milestone versions usually, but one gave me 5GHz wifi problems. I was never able to use 5GHz with the milestone I tried.
Right now i am using 12/13 nightly CM11 and it has been running very well. I really like the slider shortcuts on the CM lock screen, so I'll probably just stick with CM.

Yes, CM11 is working great! If anything is broken I haven't come across it yet. There are certainly a lot available and any unified or AT&T ROM should work (no need for safestrap), so feel free to try out anything that looks good! I liked GPE and it seemed to work really well until I found it didn't work with one app I use occasionally (subsonic). You might not have any issues with apps you use. I also seemed to get better battery life with GPE. The wifi issue I had with an older CM11 build seems to have been fixed, so that's working well now. The author of the root I used seems to like Skyfall, so you could go that way if you like touchwiz.
Have some fun trying out a couple, and make a backup before installing something different so you can easily go back if you decide you liked one better.

FWIW, I've gotten Goldeneye, Skyfall and stock T-mobile running on my i337z with TWRP. I figured out that I needed to flash my phone's modules after flashing a touchwiz ROM for it to boot and run correctly. My i337z is on ND3. I uploaded the ND3 and NE2 modules in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57407130&postcount=75.
