[Q] Windows 7 boot updater.. - Windows 8 General

Hi
I'm trying to replace the current bootlogo to a new one. And I've searched around the web for stuff and I found Windows 7 boot updater. But, it requires me to know the position of bootmgr which doesn't seem to be a part of windows 8. Or is it? I cant find it anywhere. Not even as a hidden folder. Is it renamed or just removed?

Changing OS identification?

Is there a way to change the windows nt into windows 7?
I mean, when you try to install anything that requires a specific OS name, it wont install on Windows 8 because its names Windows NT.
So question is, is there a way to turn Windows NT into Windows 7? like by regedit?
I was having the same problem with Motorola Drivers not being valid and/or Windows8 not being recognized as a valid os? So I had go back and reinstall Windows 7???
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda premium
use compatability mode, right click the .exe file and click "Troubleshoot Compatability" then click "Troubleshoot" then "This program worked in earlier versions of Windows" then select Windows 7
I had to browse the temporary files folder while the Motorola Driver installer was open so I could pull the files out and run the Installer in Compatibility mode, other than that, it worked fine.
They are all Windows NT, its the version that differs, drivers are dead easy to change, software is harder, if compatibility mode doesn't fix it then you could hope that there are some ini files you can edit but that's unlikely nowadays.
Drivers just need a entry in the INF that says its a supported OS then further down the INF add a new entry pointing that new OS version to the same files as Win 7. With out an example its kind of hard to show you and it can vary between drivers but its easy enough.
whether it works or not is a different matter, a new OS version may have changed things the driver needs so caution is always recommended

Missing Microsoft.Smartdevice.Connectivity.dll for Windows Phone Power Tools

Hello all,
I made a fresh install on my PC with Windows7 x86, because I bought a new and bigger SSD.
On my old Installation I had all the Tools for my HD2 installed, without any Problems. Okay, it's a long time ago I made the Installation, but it worked.
On the new System, I always receive a message when I try to install Windows Phone Power Tools that the Microsoft.Smartdevice.Connectivity.dll V11.0.0.0 is missing. I searched Google and find out that the dll will be installed by Windows Phone Developer Tools. But it's allready installed!! Also Windows Phone SDK 7.1 is installed.
I cant find any V11 on Google and no other hint how to install the DLL on my new System.
Any ideas from someone??
Thanks and Greets,
Masterslice
Okay, it seems that no one can help me out with this problem..
I made another thing, my old system is on the old SSD. I put back this SSD in my PC and booted the system.
As I found in Google, the location must be C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\CoreCon\1.0\Bin\, but there was no dll..
I searched for the mentioned dll and found it here:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Phone Tools\CoreCon\10.0\Bin\Microsoft.Smartdevice.Connectivity.dll in Version 10.1.40219.209
And the Windows Phone Power Tools were installed here:
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0\07VV00KK.TYR\L17KJWPJ.ZXY\wind..tion_89698295f69f556b_0001.0000_18b3ec4d3a81c136
Why a part of the folders has such kind of strange names, i dont know..
Next step was, I backup the folders from my old system and copied them to my new system.
Now I can start the WindowsPhonePowerTools.exe and connect with my HD2! It works!
But I cant understand why I can't install all from the beginning..
Better to make a Backup also from this programm!
Seems to be solved.

Yes, thats the reason why I installed all the old versions, like the WPDT and WPSDK 7.1 with Update and Visual Studio and so on... I tried a lot, now way for me to fix this error! Only the posted solution worked for me!
I am happy now and I will install in a few days my old SSD into my Laptop with a fresh install from Win7 x64!

My HD2 is working, but I didn't used it since I got my Lumia820.

Cube Iwork8 BIOS

Hello,
I bought recently a cube Iwork 8 (model u80gt) and trying to optimize battery life I changed some parameters in the BIOS and now It doesn´t boot anymore. As there is no way to reset the BIOS settings, I have to flash the BIOS chip with the original BIOS image but I don´t have it.
Could someone read a working BIOS and provide it to me so I can flash it in my tablet?
Bellow i prepared manual how to to do bios backup from windows, its 100% safe and take 5 minutes.
1. Boot into Windows
2. Download afuwin tool from ami.com website
3. Extract that archive on the tablet
4. Go to AFUWin folder
5. Run afuwingui.exe
6 Select save option
7. Save file
Once you have the ROM file please provide it to me via PM or directly in this thread.
Thanks in advance.
Hello, still needing it? And do you also have that not that much accurate touchscreen? When you move with windows or scroll, it skips every 3rd pixel or so. But when you try the windows paint app, you can draw dots on every pixel, so I think it has something to do with drivers/firmware/bios.

Need help reviving a friend's Hipstreet HS-7DTB34-16GB

Title says all. A friend of mine mangled up his Hipstreet's Windows registry, and I was wondering if there's a way to reinstall Windows 8 the old fashioned way as the system reset/refresh options refuse to work since most .EXEs flat-out fail to execute due to the registry issue.
Thought about it as some dude managed to boot up a USB installer and shoved in a Windows 10 install on his Hipstreet, but he didn't elaborate on how he did it, not to mention that drivers for it appear to be hard to come by.
