I've deodexed my apps and framework files with the Universal Deodexer (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2213235).
Now I've the deodexed files. But I don't know how to change this files with the existing files.
I tried to use the flashable zip of the 4.3 deodex (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2632798) and changed the app and framework folder with the new ones. When I flashed this I get a bootloop. Was this because of the META-INF folder? Or is there a problem with my deodexed files?

Click to collapse
It's a different folder structure, KK has a priv-app folder. See HERE for the zip you need to your files in.
Thanks!! That's a nice method!!

I am trying to take a keyboard that somebody made into a flashable .zip file, and implement it into a rom that I am working on. What I did was flash the .zip through cwm, then found the apk, backed it up, and then placed it in the /system/app folder on the new rom. The problem is as soon as the rom boots, I get a force close error. So I took a look at the .zip file, there are two folders meta-inf and system. inside system there is an app folder and lib folder. My question is can I just take the apk and lib file out and place them directly into /system/app and system/lib on the new rom? and if so do i need to do anything with the META-INF folder? any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
thanks
the META-INF folder may have some script that does some other manipulation of the filesystem or runs helper apps during installation. See what's in META-INF/com/google/android/update-script.
I have flash a stock rom half a years ago, 2.3.4, but I forgot if it's a odexed or deodexed version. running custom kernel (Semaphore). I just want to know how to confirm which version (odexed or deodexed) is it before I want to install some theme.
I have checked but all is about telling the different before odexed and deodexed.......
Stock will be Odex. If you want to be sure and still have the ZIP file extract it and look for .odex files in /system/app or check on your phone with root explorer
Thanks, I used root explorer and check in system/app, found the .odex file. So all I need is to download theme for odex version.
my rom is stock odex i used universal deodexer and deodexed my.system/app and system/framework folders . now my question.
how can i install that app and framework folders to my phone ??(i tried replace with root explorer but it does not .(
how can i make thats to a flashable zip?
but
my problem is not that . i can make a flashable zip . its working fine but after i flashed old .odex files doesnt delete. how can i add it to meta inf for when flashing delete app and replace new app and same for framework
No need to create any kind of meta inf you just need to find any flashable zip may be of some kind of theme or update package of your rom if available and just edid it using zarchiver(android) or winrar(windows) simply delete eveything inside the system folder inside the zip except the app folder then delete everything inside app folder then put the apk you want to replace in the app folder. And you are done. Its recommended to sign the zip using apktool(windows) or zipsigner(android) but you can skip this step. Thats about making a flashable zip.
But as far as i know you need to have deodnexed rom to make any changes to system.
Anyways this thread should have been posted in q&a section.
If this is the wrong thread then apologies.
I used joeldroid to deodex my systemui and all was marked as successful howvwer in the /priv-app folder the app folders are all there with the apk's but there is also another folder named 'arm' which contains 2 files, the odex file and a odex.art file?
I'm really confused as to whether this is actually deodexed or not? Ive noticed in other custom TW roms these arm folders are missing
any ideas
It means your apk in priv app folder is not deodexed
Sent from my SM-N910G using xda premium
yep everytime i tried to replace the deodexed files they would replace fine but then when i look on my root explorer all the arm folders etc are back.. Just trying an app called zipme to get my deodexed files onto my phone
thanks for ansering
so i made flashable zips of my deodexed priv-app, framework and app folders and there was not a single arm folder or odex file in sight. I flash the zips fine but when checking the folders under root all the arm folders and odex files are back????
I wonder how can I get system/framework folder to deodex my stock rom so I can install xposed ?
