Hi all,
This thread seeks to get answers to my questions as I am trying to get a particular rom on my phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544474
Many thanks in advance.
1) My phone is in stock condition. What are the requirements? Do I need rooted access?
2) Step 2 should be interpreted as wipe data and cache, correct?
3) How do I install the .zip file? Where do I put it and do I need to run some software on PC or is it done entirely on my phone?
4) Is there something I should back up? I am not talking about settings, pics etc. Rather about some stuff like original ROM or I don't know what.
Lastly, the download links seem unavaible due to high traffic lately. Could anyone, in case he or she has the file, upload it somewhere else?
Thank you ver much!
I hope I can help you a lttle bit
1) You need a custom Recovery (e.g ClockworkMod). Root access is not needed if you dont want do backup your apps and data. You can flash the CWM recovery via Odin from a PC.
2/3) If you have installed your Custom Recovery, download the Rom zip file and place it on your sdcard where you can find it.
Before you install it make a factory reset in the recovery. Then install the rom zip.
4) It is always a good idea to backup your original rom. You can also do that in the custom recovery.
If you have more questions you can send me a private message and I can provide you a step for step guide

Root is not required, Just flash Custom recovery with odin, make backup of origional rom and flash your custom rom which you will place on sd card or internal sotrage.
Note: Make efs backup....use efs professional for samsung devices
1: Wipe Data / Factory Reset
2: Wipe Cache Partition
3. Wipe dalvik cache
4. Flash your rom

I am stuck in TWRP recovery because i wiped my dalvic, cache, data and system. I do not have any backup in the phone's storage.
I only have the CM11 rom which i was about to install but it seems my version of TWRP cannot install it.
The question is how do i get to copy files from my PC to the phone's storage.
Please dont just tell me to use ADB or something vague like that. I am a newbie. Please tell me the exact step i need to follow in order to copy files.
Thank You

ok i think for u most fair method is to back to stock and re-do all what u did or if recovery supports ADB PUSH or ADB SIDELOAD use this
Have you tried mounting usb storage in recovery? I believe that will allow your computer to access the storage partition, then you could transfer a compatible rom, perhaps a rooted stock rom just to get you going.

Greetings all,
I have the i9500 S4,
I was running Hassan Rom and everything was fine, yesterday i've tried to boot the OzcanRom, and kept getting the (process.media. and process.phone not working)
The phone was not working, and after multiple tries of rebooting the said rom, i decided ill go unroot it and install the stock official rom (as i need my mobile for work etc...)
What i did is wipe the dalvikcashe and the system files (which i think was wrong) and tried to flash the stock rom via Odin the old simple way.
Everything went fine, when my mobile turned on again, i kept getting the same messages:
(the proccess android.process.media... & the proccess android.process.acore... & the proccess android.process.phone... Unfortunately email has stopped...& the new message Unified Deamon (EUR) has stopped.
The mobile is useless, can't access anything, can't connect to USB media so i can backup the files, can't connect to WIFI as it restarts...
Please help me guys as soon as possible i really need my mobile for my work...
(Preferably without a full wipe, or if necessary offer a backup way for my gallery)
Should i try installing a different stock rom? as i chose one from SamMobile that was the closest to my region...
Perform a factory reset. You can do that from the recovery or from within android. Make sure to backup the files on your internal storage.

Thank you for the reply.
I can do that, but i can't backup the files as nothing on the phone is working, pressing the gallery button for example, leads to the (process.media not working) message.
Any other solutions? i don't understand, isn't flashing a stock rom supposed to solve all these issues? should i try flashing another version of the Roms (different region perhaps)?
It does solve it, but you need to factory reset.
What I would do:
- Flash a custom recovery.
- Do the wipe option prepare for new rom.
- Flash stock/custom rom.
That way your internal storage won't be wiped.

Great, Got me relieved when you said internal storage won't be wiped.
Thank you for the reply, i don't want to be a pain in the ***, but could you please explain a few things,
What i'm gonna do is, flash a custom recovery (please recommend one that has the wipe for new rom)
Then, Do the wipe option, which wipe option, the recovery i had had only 1 wipe option, how do i know its not the one that's gonna wipe my data)
Finally, ill flash the rom. (Do i need to root my device again then? to flash a custom rom, if yes, im just gonna go with stock rom and let my mobile work for a few days where i need it then root and install a custom rom again)
I really appreciate your help, and your prompt answers.

- You can use Philz recovery
- You know the wipe option when you see it. The one that say prepare for new rom. No custom rom will wipe your internal storage. That option is somewhere hidden.
- You don't need to root, just flash.
ps you will lose all your apps. It will not wipe your internal storage.

Hello,
I installed philz touch 6.27.2 recovery on my Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G900H). Then, I wiped all data/factory reset. I lost my stock ROM. The bad news is that I forget to copy my the custom ROM files into the internal memory before wiping all the data.
I have no idea what to do now. Can anyone help me step by step what to do?
thank you in advance,

Luckily, you still have custom recovery, which means you can load a stock rom zip through recovery, saving it to your external card, and flashing it. Much easier solution, flash the stock tar through Odin in Download mode. Start from scratch. You erased all data anyway, so it's not like you'd be losing anything
Edit: I do NOT have this build, but I found this article which may be very helpful to you. Good luck.

Stick to S7
Also do not forget to make a backup in TWRP might save you a lot of hassle if one flash goes wrong

it is not reccomended to do this (its called a dirty flash) you can choose to do this anyway when installing a custom ROM most of them come with an option in the AROMA installer letting you do a fresh wipe or "dirty flash" it will just install the ROM over your current leaving your settings/apps there. Or if there is no AROMA installer with the rom just dont do a wipe before you install. no need to restore using a backup
dirty flash should be fine if you are upgrading ROMS to a later version but you should always check the thread if that is okay. you may run into problems if its a huge update.

heres some info on EFS > http://www.naldotech.com/galaxy-s7-s7-edge-backup-restore-efs-imei-partition/
recovery is TWRP itself
system is the ROM
Data is your apps etc..
a standard backup is already seleted in TWRP which is
Boot / System / Data
you may as well backup EFS as well its only a few Kb

If you can still get into TWRP, there is no need to install a stock ROM. If you do, you will not only have to reinstall TWRP, but it will also encrypt your data partition. Just make sure that you perform a wipe to do a clean install of whichever ROM you choose. Also, if you haven't ever formatted the data partition, that will prevent from backing up or installing a custom ROM. If that is the case, make sure you copy any files you have saved because, unlike a wipe, formatting the data partition will delete EVERYTHING on that partition.
