This guide/lesson is for the noobs or others who are imo kinda lazy when it comes down to flashing and or updating roms.
TIP #1:
When flashing a new rom its not required but is STRONGLY RECCOMENDED to do all full fresh clean install from scratch with desired/reccomended ftf.
TIP #2:
UPDATES FOR ROMS. ONLY AND ONLY IF THE ROM CHEF ACTUALLY SPECIFIES A "NO NEED TO WIPE" TYPE OF DEAL IN HIS THREAD THEN JUST DO A FULL WIPE. I understand that sometimes you may not have the time to go through the process but let's look @ this from a devs point of view. The time that you put in to update/flash new roms is only a very small fraction of what devs put in cooking these awesome roms so if you dont have the time and you do decide to go ahead with your own installation method then please report bugs to yourself.
TIP # 3:
If you're scared to loose particular data, apps, contacts, messages well welcome to the wonderful world of android that will solve these potential problems for ya. Here is some apps/tools to get you on your way.
NANDROID BACKUP this tool can be either done via clockworkmod recovery which is embedded in custom kernels or for stock kernel you can use this app. or online backup without even re-booting!This is my main backup tool because it literally backs up your entire phone of the same state and i mean system, data, sd-ext, android.secure, and cache. Pretty cool huh?:highfive:
SMS BACKUP+ This app backs up your sms and call logs!
TITANIUM BACKUP FREE/PRO This app backs up, restores and even auto backup via custom timed schedules all your data/system apps (but i never backup system apps because sometimes there is errors). The pro version imo is the sh!t.
STOCK AUTO SYNC everytime before you about to flash a new rom/update before you even power down your device just make sure you have auto sync ticked either from your settings or notification toggles. just to make sure every last contact, calender date etc... is synced to your google account.
Another tip is to READ THE FULL OP BEFORE DOWNLOADING AND FLASHING ANYTHING. You have to remember that people dont get paid to develope so you never know if its some noob or maybe an ass that uploads stuff with malware or some sh!t. And also the op usually mentions how to install the rom so you should FOLLOW ALL DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS AND NOT YOUR OWN YOU DIDNT DEV THE ROM SO YOU SHOULDNT BE COMMING UP WITH YOUR OWN INSTALATION STEPS AND THEN LATER ON SPAM THE THREAD WITH "THIS DONT WORK, RANDOM REBOOTS" BASICALLY PROBLEMS THAT OTHERS WHO DO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS DONT HAVE.
SO TO CONCLUDE PLEASE FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS FROM ROM THREAD OR IF YOU HAVE TROUBLES THEN PM ME AND I WILL BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO HELP AMD PLEASE KEEP THE DEV THREADS CLEAN PLEASE!!!!!
Thankyou in advanced guys and happy flashing!

I read this, but it was really hard to get through.
Maybe make a list of things for users to remember so that there are some separate, easy to understand thoughts instead of a block of words.
Also, go easy on the caps lock. I feel like you're yelling at me.
Man u really going all out on this. Anyway mybe u could giv some or color on the important point. Just so people sees it clearly. Lol. As i said quite few many times befor, "people don't read much these days."..
Hey hey hey i did this from xda app haha just to start it off but when i get home i will make a lot more noob friendly. Sorry for caps just cant really do anything else with the app lol.
Will be updated tonight

Actually u CAN. I'm doing this also from an xda premium. Just need to know the xml/html coding. These are the codes that runs on the web that only a computer could understands. So take note. And fyi, my G2JB MOD started on this app. So if i could start a thread using this app, then so can you.

DEVs you require... Hmmm... why not United Nations?
OK, Here is something just for you...
I'm just in doubt if you'd be able to apply it as you were not able to find it by yourself...
Xda is not a place for rudeness we are here to help each other before you get on your high horse and waste the effort of creating a patronising video of how to use google. This reason for my post is because this is a specific problem with the elk4 leak. If you read the other threads you would have seen others have tried agps and it still does not work. Hence my post.

1. Rudeness citation, please;
2. It is not a video it is a webpage based service created fot peoples who are unable to use search button in XDA forum or at Google, therefore, although I like your way of thinking, there is no high horse on the horizon, sorry. But... my concerns about your ability to use the patch are even bigger now, as you have thought it is a video created especially for you...
3. If you have specific problem, it would be better place for it, namely: Q&A, just below the general section of forum.
Last but not least: I have read ALL cited by me thread. No single comment about non working with your ROM, therefore, if you're giving such statement, provide link to the post, please.
You should have post this in Q&A section. Anyway I think it's kernel related just flash Siah kernel see if it's fix your problem but Siah kernel isn't fully compatible with this ROM yet so it will break your video recording.

Well this would make it one. This particular firmware gps problem is not related to whatever patch does, therefore it is not solved by a patch. Now if someone has idea or solution.... Doubt it anyways, and since I'm depending heavily on navigation for my work, back to lj5 patiently waiting for jkay, till next leak and next round of testing.
Testing JKay alpha on GT-I9300
Just noticed gps problems today, is there a fix? I previously didnt wipe. But flashed again full wipe. Not tested yet.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
I can confirm that this worked for me today:
I had just installed Omega 33, and was trying to use GPS to navigate, but was not getting a good on my location (although I seemed to have a certain amount of accuracy to my position). I turned the GPS off and on again, and what little accuracy present went away and I never got the GPS lock.
I used the app known as "Fasterfix" from the play store. It needs root privileges in order for it to modify the "GPS.conf" file.
I live in India. Hence I chose my server as Asia-> India (it sets it to in.pool.ntp.org or something like that). There was no need to reboot. After this, I was successfully able to navigate without any problems.
Try it out and let me know whether it works.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
My problem was never getting a fast lock, it was holding onto it. When I would press navigate i would drive certain distance and would notice my position is few streets behind, then would get prompt gps lost, never to return. Turn off gps toggle, turn on later, aquire lock. Rinse and repeat.

You are saying the aGPS patch works, although from what I have read it's a completely unrelated problem, please show me it worked. If there is already a fix posted you should be straight linking it with a "please use the search next time" that's a helpful post.
And do you even know the problem, have you ever looked in the leaked firmware thread, I barely see you (checking the forums multiple times every day) and when I do see you your posts are rude, with absolutely no intelligence what so ever.
Did someone try to reflash the modem?
I can't try it right now, I will do it later and report.

Still, your heaven-reaching intelligence is unable to provide link to citation that this patch is not working? Well, ok, you may be busy learning how to distinguish between web page and video...
Finally, I have no time to look on the forum several times per day, as I have plenty other things to do, for example to drive somewhere using SGS3 as SatNav device, which is (comparing crappy chipset as SGS 1 with brilliant chip at SGS3) - just a pleasure.
Therefore, sorry but I will disappoint you in the future as well.
Finally, feel free to not test any patch, but to look on the video created especially for you in the web by someone special...

You are the one trying to prove something you should provide the link because obviously you know of a thread full of people who have had it work. You can't spout crap as facts then say its up to others to prove it.

i'm looking for an app where i can display a list of tasks and beside it, it would list the number of days since i have last done it. For example, oil change 183 days ago or 20 days since i last paid my credit card. and if i click on it, it would reset the timer to 0 days. is there such an app?
I'm sure there is something similar, but I have not seen it.
And I like the app idea. :good:
Well as it just happens, I'm building an app that might do for you.
In case if you're interested, you can check the build version and give feedback. Knowing that i'll have someone who'll use it in advance will motivate me to publish it quicker.
This version works quite well, tested on Galaxy S2 and S4, help and about sections are still missing, also some UI tweaks and you might step on occasional bug, but so far it works for me very well.
EDIT: removed old links, since the application in question from my side has been published officially:
it's available on google play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...sapps.ncounter
also, xda thread is available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2661195
Sorry I havent checked back. Wow thats exactly what I'm looking for so far. I'll have to try it out for a bit first but it seems to be quite customizable. Only thing I can think of atm is allowing a task to change background color if a certain amount of time is reached. Say after 25 days if I still havent paid my bill, it turns yellow
Sent from my SGH-I337M using xda app-developers app
I stumbled upon this app the other day it would probably help you. It's called Quixey, it's basically a search engine for apps that works off natural language descriptions. Describe what you want and it lists the most relevant result. It actually works pretty well.

I don't know if xda has been hacked or if it's something they have agreed to but over the last few weeks anytime I come to this site I get bombarded by ads full screen ones sometimes that force me to either download or go to another site including that dam mobogenie, I kept thinking it must be an app I've downloaded or some kind of malware but after a couple of full wipes including formatting my internal and external as soon as come back to this site it starts again I've tried other sites and the ads don't appear it only happens when I come here! I was wanting to know if this is happening to anyone else or if it's just me? I've also tried different roms but it has the same out come any help with this will be greatly appreciated.
TThanks in advance.
No problem here.

hi ,
yes, i had similar experience, many months back, when i used the relevant free version.of app.
i also found this to happenned on a another very" popular" twitter app ( free ) i had. .
the pop up ad was full page and you could only close it by clicking on x,( in the ad top right corner of ad )
and appeared sometimes even if i had exited, the app.!!
i know it was these apps, as it happened on my then , Note 2 stock rom ( i now have Note 3 ) and Note 8.0 stock rom ,whenever i used the apps ..!!
i unticked "notifications in relevant app ////settings ..application manager ,but it did not help .!!
i uninstalled and it was gone !
i had sinced move on ,and now have the paid version of said apps !! No problems !!
i bought it because i wanted the premiun versions and not because i was " bullied " into it ..!!
i don't mind if app have " Ads "and it is placed discreetly !
but this" full blown ad tactic" ,is low down amateurish and childish !!
i will uninstall it if i was you.!
good luck
Use traptalk app. Much better than xda app and is free. Use Adblock
It used to happen to me add well so I just use tapatalk now. Solved ?

Its happening on the browser not the app sorry I thought I said that, it happens every time I come to this site using the Samsung browser or dolphin. It only happens here though when I move to a different page it stops it only started about 3 weeks ago I think, it hasn't been long. I have tapatalk and the xda app but hardly use them, maybe should start huh! I've been told to try chrome with adblock so I'm hoping that will fix it permanently! Thank you for all the suggestions I do really appreciate it.

My first advice would be look into Android L Design
secondly not exactly understanding what you mean by you want the app to act as a wedding info plus an invitation for your sisters wedding. mind elaborating a bit more?
Like are you trying to invite people from the app?
Or are you sending the app to people?
As for info on the app I am assuming your trying to make the app like an invitation I think? Not exactly sure what your asking so clear the question up a bit and ill try to help ya out.
Hi...sorry for late reply .I will send the app to people. The app will give all info regarding bride and groom.. venue..some background music.and should contain the facility as the app user can send text msg to couple and can send his wishes using pic which can be clicked by camera.and when he press the submit button the msg should deliver to google drive or something.I am not familiar here..can you please guide me???
