How to get the new FB UI
first opt out of beta programme..(if you arent a tester ignore this step)
link for beta is here
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/facebook-for-android-beta-testers
then join alpha..
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/facebook-for-android-alpha-testers
after joining..uninstall Facebook app..reboot phone...
now search for facebook app in play store and boom...you will have the latest there
If you still have old ui clear the app from recent apps and start it
did not work for me.
edit: it does indeed work

I've been in both groups for like 2 months. Still no updated UI. Search a bit, the new UI is rolled out server side, from Facebook. There's no way to actually "get" it. You get it when they roll out the update to you...
Worked perfect for me!

Hmm any ideas??

What version are you on. I was on updated to 9.0.0.18. If I closed the app from recent apps and tried to reopen it it would crash. I would have to clear data to get it to work again. All on stock non rooted nexus.

Op @abhi98228 please add this info to the first post :
Try wiping the apps data then re-sign into the app only on the latest alpha version.
Also not everyone will see the new interface due to it being server sided.

Thanks rejoined the alpha group got version .19 and closed the apps and swiped away from recent apps and loaded it back up. Works like its suppose to. Next question how do I get my news feed to be "most recent" instead of "top stories"? I can view most recent by going to the settings Tab then selecting it, but that seems to be a step backwards if you ask me. What happened to the news feed settings?

Got back into the alpha program and updated Facebook. When it 1st loaded it was the old UI closed the app. Swiped away in most recent apps and loaded it back up and I had the new UI.

Yes it does not depend on what app version you have nor what alpha or beta group you are in its just their server that depends on who gets it, my wife is on just the standard play store version and has had then new ui for a month now.

I found that in my phone the other day too. I don't know what it is, but it doesn't really do anything.
Could be a log file. I'm not sure what it is. I would scan again once it appears. Not sure if it is I needed file or not. I don't have a nex 4 but was looking into getting one that's why I'm at the forum.
You can try sd maid which has a system cleaner. Or change the files permissions if you are worried about it transmitting data. But I wouldn't mess with it too much until you figure out what it is.

You guys could wipe your sdcard with twrp if you are worried, but back up all your wanted sdcard data to a computer first. And then put it back on right after. I do that with my Nexus 7 sometime. Not sure if it is the same process on Nex4. It may not be necessary, not sure.

Yes, it can be, so long as you're sideloading an appropriately signed APK (I'd suggest Android Police; they have a running list of them).

I hate to say this, but what exactly was the point of either of these posts? Neither answered the question (which takes about two seconds), and "sucks" is a huge matter of personal preference. Maybe OP happens to really like the new variants; either way, if Op wants to upgrade, that's their call.

Nothing in your post says what rom you use, let alone how you installed google apps. So it really depends. For example if you installed Slimbean + SlimGapps for example, your play store among other apps from that package will not update because they are modified from the official source, so there is that factor to consider.
Does anyone have the program from iosonandroid.com? Is it even a real program? I noticed that a survey had to be completed before it would let it be downloaded. I also noticed that there is no contact information on the site.

ahh, i see. well, nice
but, i do have some feedback. my new camera was in the system, but i moved it out as a user app last week. it drained battery a lot hevier than before(old cam), and the camera daemon used more battery as well. i tried figuring out how to make it use less, but couldnt figure it out. i moved it out of the system to a user app last week, and now it uses much less battery

strange, I use the camera in system with all my rom without any problems, I have no problems of excessive consumption ... well everything works very well
This is useful for people that don't wish to rely on Google services like the play store. I myself am paranoid on a much smaller scale, but people who are into security and experience paranoia have much different setups than a typical Android user.
