Hey guys I am having problems with installing a custom recovery. I tried installing CWM from ROM Manager app, no luck, and also that all in one recovery installation by optimus, no luck. It keeps showing the stock recovery.
I really need a custom recovery please help. Thanks

you cannot install custom recovery on kitkat that way the only way is to downgrade(to 10b on d802), root, recovery and flash the following thread has a small guide on how http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2681205

While trying ti install CM 11 from TWRP i managed to brick the phone. I dont want to waste time sharing the details unless it's need to solve the problem. The main thing is that my phone is now stuck at the LG logo. Previously i was running the CM 10.2 Stable Build.
How can i get back to working condition? Either CM or Genuine LG Rom, I just want my phone to be up and running.
Please Help. I am really scared at this moment.
You don't share any details so I have to guess...
Enter recovery like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifi-ArGeTzQ , restore your Backup or flash another ROM, done.

I can enter both the modes shown in the video.
The thing is i was running CM 10.2 with a TWRP installed of version 2.6.3.2. I downloaded the CM 11 and went into TWRp to flash it but it couldnt flash the CM11. Then after searching the net i found out that TWRP 2.6.3.3 or higher is required to install CM11. The problem is that i wiped my dalvic, data, cache and system and did not keep a backup. So when the Cm11 wont install i was stuck in the TWRP as i didn not have the 10.2 rom file in the phone.
Then downloaded the TWRP 2.6.3.3 and also a CWM zip (just in case). Using ADB i tried to update the TWRM but still some other error shows up. Tried installing the CWm still some error shows up. i tried installing again and this time the recovery asked me to install superuser (though i was rooted). I selected YES and after that i am boot looping in the lg logo.
Anyways thats basically what happened. Now how do i get further and make my phone work again?
Please help brother. I am in deep trouble.
Thank You
Man... always keep a backup, you know, just in case
Shouldn't be a problem at all. You have ADB access right? So here is TWRP 2.6.3.4 those are flashable ZIPs.
Push the file, flash with recovery, reboot to recovery again and you should be on 2.6.3.4. Then flash CM11 and you are good to go...

So you can't enter the recovery like shown in the video? And the command adb reboot recovery doesn't work either?
At this point your only option is to return back to stock and start over but with a recovery from the link I provided in the other thread.

Ok then i will follow this process and hopefully be successful in getting my phone up and running.
Thanks for the help. Downloading 2Gb will take some time. So will post the result tomorrow.
Regarding rooting and installing custom recovery again, i will do that later. For now i just want my phone alive.
Anyways Thanks again everyone for the helpful information
Try getting to download mode right now. Because if you can't get to download mode you can't use the back to stock method
from my Note Thrizzle
Thanks everyone for the help and support. I have successfully reverted back to Stock LG Firmware.
I have some questions.
1. Do i have root access anymore?
2. Is my previous custom recovery still in my system?
3. If no for both then please help me with the appropriate article to root, install custom recovery and then install CM11, as my previous recovery was not able to install CM 11.
Thank You
I made a mistake and could use your help...
I have a Verizon LG G2 it is rooted and I tried to install clockworkmod recovery and it wouldn't boot to recovery just the stock recovery. So.. I installed TWRP and flashed that recovery. Now I have no recovery. Phone locks up when I try to boot into recovery. How do I fix this? I am trying to ditch the stock Rom. Whats the easiest solution to flash over everything with a new Rom without using recovery? Or how do I get a Recovery working.. I never used a PC to flash before... I am a computer geek tho so with some guidance I should be able to hopefully fix this.

Dear xda community,
I have a problem in installing the custom recovery. First, I tried to install the lollipop via Odin, but I could not. I tried to re-open the device, but nothing was there. I lost my custom recovery and the rom. then, I tried to root the device in order to Kitkat rom via the custom recovery. the device was successfully rooted, but whenever I try to install the custom recovery it fails. currently, the device is without a system, and i cannot install the custom recovery to install the rom. Please, I need any advise that could help me.
Regards,
Try a different recovery

I did, but it also did not work.
Hi,
i wanted stock android on my s4 and downloaded cm11 and installed using the easy installer thing. Cm11 was not as great as i thought and was looking at the GPE rom.
I have the zip file downloaded for the GPE , just wondering to complete
do i need odin and if so what v?
do i need root?
Do i need CWM?
Im new to downloading and installing roms but i am a quick learner
Thanks
Every time you want to flash a custom rom you will require root and a custom recover (Like CWM, TWRP or PhilZ).
There are a few cases where you need Odin to flash the rom. But for the GPE rom you will need just a custom recovery and root.
Considering you have already installed a custom rom (although with the cyanogenmod installer) you should be rooted and maybe have a custom recovery.
Here is a root guide just in case.
But if you have an app like SuperSU, then you're rooted.
Then you still need a recovery. I don't know if the CM installer flashes one.
I myself use TWRP recovery. Because CWM just didn't work.
Used Nandroid manager (from google play) to flash TWRP because everything else failed.
If you don't have a custom recovery, then you can flash TWRP. I haven't tested the other recoveries on this device.
Go here and download the latest .img file.
Then you will use Nandroid manager to flash that img file. Then select "reboot into recovery".
Now you should have TWRP flashed. In case Nandroid says that you need to download busybox from google play, do that and install it. But CM should have busybox installed already.
Now put the rom zip on the external or internal storage. Boot into recovery, go to the Wipe tab and do a factory reset.
Then go to Install and select the zips you want to flash. This is how you basically flash a rom.
Some roms may require you to do some other stuff. So make sure you check the rom flash instructions.
nandroid is saying ,the file .... can not be flashed by this app , i checked if i was rooted by downloading a root checker and it said yes... what am i doing wrong?
nevermind, i used CWM instead and worked perfectly, couldnt have done it without you!!! Thanks
CWM didn't work for me.
But if it works for you, I guess it's alright
I tried to factory reset a custom ROM, got sent to TWRP then I can't reboot to system from there. Tried a clean install but to no avail. I've looked around on the internet and I think I have to reinstall stock ROM and then reinstall custom recovery and ROM, except if I were to install the stock ROM once again (with sp tools) I need my phone to be turned off, not in recovery mode. So how exactly should I proceed now?
EDIT: Managed to get rid of the TWRP bootloop by restoring from a stock nandroid I've found on the forums, coupled with flashing a stock recovery image using TWRP. Reunlocked bootloader, flashed TWRP all over again and then flashed custom ROM and Gapps. Everything running fine now.
