Office mobile - Nexus 7 (2013) General

All, hey. I see Microsoft finally blessed us with some free office. Working good on my HTC one but not available on play store with n7? What's up with that? Is it possible to get this on the n7?

It works (as far as I can tell), just find the apk and send it via Bluetooth to your tab and install.

Yes, it works! Use "app backup and restore" to grab the apk file from your phone and use that to install it on your n7.

Any link to download Microsoft office for n7?
Nam Huy Linux http://namhuy.net

You can use the App Market Helper to make the playstore think your tablet is a phone, I just checked and Office Mobile app shows up on my tablet.

Yep. It works. Makes you wonder... Why not just put on play store if it works this good? I heard they might make a special section in the store just for n7. Hope to see that one day
Thanks all

I'll give office a try but I have Office Suite Pro 7 and it works awesome and has for a few years. Millions of downloads and it gets given away from time to time too. http://www.androidauthority.com/officesuite-pro-7-review-197648/

This, I've had office suite pro for a while now and haven't had any complaints.

When I browse office mobile page in playstore, it says only compatible with Nexus 4. Says, not compatible with kindle hd and nexus 7. Same thing for Amex mobile. May be i can extract the apk of amex mobile from my nexus 4 and see if it works with my nexus 7.
+1 for office suite pro

Kingston and Quick Office are my favorites.

Why MS is not porting Office to Android tablet devices ? They just do it on iPad ...

To do what? share files? one control the other?
You could pair them by bluetooth I'd imagine. Not sure what Bluetooth profiles both use/have.
To share files tried Bluetooth the nexus paired to the iPod but the iPod couldn't pair to the nexus.

You could always get an iOS app that can upload and download to and from a storage service like Dropbox and get an Android app that can connect to whatever service you chose for your iPod to download and upload. You could sync through your chosen service as well so you don't have to do everything manually.
It's a little inconvenient but probably you're best bet if Bluetooth isn't working for you.

The files are to big for that.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
No one has tried this.

This is not possible unless both the iPod and N7 are rooted (jailbroken). If they are, it's easy.
There are a couple of iOS apps in Cydia that can make your iPod visible on a windows network. If your Nexus is rooted, using the Samba filesharing app will let you access the files on either device from the other provided they're on the same wifi network.
Paul over at Mocado has TeamViewer Server running on the N7. So you could use teamviewer on the iDevice and remote into the N7.
Might be cool on an iPad or something. If Teamviewer even has an iDevice app, which I'm probably sure they do.

nexus 7 as Minecraft PE hotspot server
Am searching for a way to do something like this....let me explain, and you can tell me if I am just way out there...
I bought Minecraft PE for my nexus 7, and for both my son's iPad and iTouch.
Is it possible to run software on the Nexus 7, so that it can act as a server, and the other two can connect to it....like on a LAN...?
This would allow us to play together in the van....if it is possible to make the Nexus act like a wireless Hotspot of sorts....
Not sure....but this is the place for people who know all things Android...
Hope this makes sense...
Thanks for any help...

Will apps purchased in W8 PC install for free on W8 RT tablet?

If I buy an app in the Windows 8 Store on my PC, can I install the same app on my tablet without having to buy it again? Do my purchases get transferred to my tablet? Do purchased apps automatically get synced across PC and tablet?
Thanks!

Yes, they will. The downloads are linked to your Live account, and not to the computer.
Also, free apps on the Previews will be free on the final RT as long as you've had them installed previously, so download what you want now

I've tried the one from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1940197
when installed as user app it opened but force closed when opening document and as system app it seemed to be opening and then just close and go back to app drawer
maybe there's something in the build.prop that has to do with it? I prefer the 4 version but didn't manage to get the 3 to work either
I've tried other office apps but as for now, Polaris is the best one I've used... Kingsoft is very slow and others I've tried didn't have good support for RTL languages which is a must for me
really want to get it to work :\

[Q] Any apps that can read and send sms from other android device?

Is there an application that can read and send SMS from other Android devices, let say Xperia sola, and that I can read in my Nexus 7? I have searched the Play store and none that I have found or something I have missed. A help from you guys will be highly appreciated.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Not that I know of, but try downloading Air Droid on your phone and rather then going to the website on your computer go on it using your tablet. Should work, but you'll have to be on your browser in order to see your SMS and what not. Just throwing out ideas
That might be good. But reading and sending SMS might keep be handy. Thanks. Still anyone?

I use cloud SMS to send and receive SMS on my N7. Costs .99 and you install it on your phone and tablet. There are others that uses Bluetooth also.

I use cloud sms also. The developer did all the beta testing right here in the N7 forum for theming and apps, which I was fortunate to be a part of. The transport is via internet. Works wonderfully.
Tablet sms is also available on the market. Higher price, and the two devices must be on the same wifi network.

I'm using mysms (I guess e.e. cummings named it) on my phone and mysms Tablet on my Nexus. I believe they sync through the cloud, but however they do it, I have exactly the same SMS send and receive abilities on both devices. Unlike some other solutions, it uses my existing phone number.
I use tablet sms. It was a little higher price but IMO, it was worth it after trying just about every other one out there.
It can sync via wifi or bluetooth. I use bluetooth.
I can send and receive sms from the tablet and they still show up on my phone. I can receive picture messages on the tab with tablet sms. cant send pics with it yet though.
Setup was really easy for me, it has a nice pop up option so when you are browsing on the tab, your sms will pop up if you choose and you can reply right there without exiting whatever app you were in and carry on when you are done.
I got mysms it syncs all messages you have on your phone, and you can send as well, works really well I haven't had no problems.

Mighty Text.
Works great.
Use desksms for your phone and tabletsms for your tablet. Its 5$ per year with a 2 week trial. I use it on my tablets. It syncs through Google so as long as you're connected to WiFi you're good. Real quick too.

Ditto. Just had a whole convo last night with my hubby while I was babysitting. Phone was charging and my outlet wasn't nearby so I used Tablet Talk. It also has the option to connect via Blue tooth, if you're somewhere not connected to WiFi.

There are several apps on play store. I tried one of them "multiscreen multitasking THD" (you have to buy it to try it) but soon returned it. Very impressive idea but it could not connect to the Internet with its own browser, so I asked for a refund.

It worked fine as far as the multi window aspect. Quite cool! I just could not connect with its browser. It’s only $2 so you can try and see if you can get it to connect. I wrote to the author but have not heard back yet.

Paranoid Android is currently working on their implementation of multi window, but it uses an overlay concept to do it. IMO this is much cleaner than stacked windows. They also have a notification ticker that works like Facebook chat heads, which is how you launch the overlay apps. It's still in alpha status but it's shipping up to be really good.
