[Q] Q9 wireless charging problem

Hi!
I've just received the Q9 Wireless Charger from a manufacturer in china.
It's Qi-compatible and have been seen working with the Nexus 4.
Mine does not seem to work.
The manual says a led should be shining green when it's ready to charge or when it's charging. It's hard to read the chinese translated manual.
Mine just shines red and blue constantly and nothing is happening with the phone.
Am i doing something wrong? Do i have to activate it in my phone? I've tried putting it in any direction in any place on the pad.
Someone have a clue?

I have the Energizer Qi charger and when I place the phone on the charging plate, a light over the plate shines a steady blue until charging is complete. Flashing multiple colors (especially if one of them is red) probably means there is a problem with the charging system or the power.

That's what i'm afraid of. The thing is that the leads shows blue and red all the time, even when the phone's of the pad. Updating with a picture.

try position it with the centre?

Is the power cord connected securely? Maybe it's not pushed in completely (or shouldn't be pushed in so far).
For what it's worth that's not the Qi symbol on the charge plate.
If possible, send it back for replacement. It seems to me that those two LEDs should light up for no more hen a few seconds after the device is plugged in and then turn off until they nerd to indicate some condition like charge complete or error.

I agree. That's what they should mean... I'm gonna try another cable and if it doen't work i'm gonna return the product.

I have the Q9 charger for couple of days.
It's takes many tries of locating Nexus 4 on chargers surface to make it work.
Many times (most of my tries) I unable to make it work at all.
I am wary disappointed with this charger. It was waist of many.
I shouldn't have to be such cheapskate.

Q9 Qi-charger broken
I had mine for about a week now. Used it with my Nexus 4. Charges the Nexus quickly, but when at 100% it stops charging. Only when unplugging charger and re-plugging it, it will charge again. One morning Nexus was at 77% while laying on charger. After a few times unplugging, the connector was pushed into the charger leaving it useless. Do not buy!

I have to place my Nexus towards the top of the charger for it to activate and start charging.
Took me a while to find the correct placement.
My pad is supposed to flash blue when its charging - It starts charging and then seems to stop, then start again, then stop - not sure if this is normal or not.
So far i'm pretty disappointed with it, I assume because I got a cheapy from china that this isn't the normal experience with QI chargers, but I doubt I will be buying another until I see someone else with a much better model.

Nexus 7 Won't Turn On

Hey everyone,
I've tried searching, but no luck, so here's my issue.
My nexus 7 was around 25% battery last night so I plugged it in for the night.
Woke up this morning and the backlight was on, but the screen was off.
When I unplugged my n7 the backlight turned off. Hitting the power button had no effect.
I then tried pushing and holding the power button for roughly a minute, nothing.
I have disconnected the battery and still no response from the unit.
I plugged it back in for roughly a minute as well, still nothing.
Unfortunately I don't have access to a charger right now.
Is it possible the battery is dead even though it was on the charger all night?

Weird.
Just plugged it in to my car charger and it booted up. Battery is completely dead, so I guess with the backlight staying on all night it didn't charge.
Now why would the backlight stay on if the screen is off...

Don't go flashing different roms and kernels now like most of the idiots here, it could just have been your charger being faulty or a bad connection to the tablet overnight. if the problem happens again then you can investigate further.
BTW, were you charging from your PC/Laptop with a USB cable or through a wall adapter? i've had issues in the past charging my Nexus 4 and 7 not charging overnight on my PC

I feel like a broken record but since I've fixed a ton of n7s with loose battery connections, I would recommend checking the internal battery lead to make sure its not loose. Asus didn't do a good job of making sure all n7 batteries were secure and this allowed the battery to shift and pull the power lead out. Some clear scotch tape on the connector and one on the battery (avoid the copper tape areas) will eliminate this problem if that's what you have.

I ran into this problem. Initially, my Nexus 7 didn't start. When I plug in the charger the screen would flicker from time to time but there's no indication of charging. So I decided to open it up to see that the battery cable has loosened. So I managed to fix it and use it happily thinking that it won't happen again.
Since last week, the same issue happened. I thought it was the same issue and opened it up to see that the battery cable is firmly in place. So I got a shock. I removed it and re-inserted it again to see if it fixed it. But nope, it won't turn on. And now it's been a week and I don't know what to do It's nothing wrong with the loose cable cuz now it's firmly in place.
Now when I plug it in to charge, the screen will just flicker (as in the back light will turn on and off in 5 sec intervals). What do you think I should do? I tried holding the power button for 30 secs as well.
I bought this new from eBay and still under warranty. But I live in Sri Lanka. So when I bought it, I had to ship to a friend in the US and had to wait till he came down. So it's not easy for me to ship back and to receive another device. Hopefully I can find a solution to fix this myself.

Make sure that the cables between the battery and the connector are intact and not broken. One or two people reported a broken cable.
Does it boot while plugged in to the charger with the battery disconnected ? You could simply have a bad battery.

I checked again. The cables aren't broken. They are all in good shape.
It doesn't boot when I plug in. Actually it doesn't show anything on the screen. If I look closely I can see static flicker on the screen from time to time. Just like the static in TV but much much less. Like only a few of those in certain places.
When this happened the first time I opened it up to see the loose cable. So fixing that helped it then. But now I dunno what's causing it.

Might have to try a different charger, maybe something stronger. I JUST had that problem with my GF Nexus 7. It wouldn't boot with her normal charger and the screen would flicker like a TV. I used my Nexus 4 charger and it worked.
She had left the battery fully drain for over two weeks and I think the battery didn't appreciate it.

Nexus Won't Charge

This may be the noobiest of questions, but is there anything special that needs to be done to chage the unit or is anyone aware of units with bad charging ports. I just unboxed my Nexus last night and as my usual new device ritual put it on the charger for a few minutes. Noticed the battery icon came on for about 5-10 seconds and then disappeared. Figured it was normal but when I powered it on we only at 43%. Shut it off and let it "charge" overnight but when I powered it back up still at 43%. Tried a different cable with same results. Calling store today but wondering if I might have missed something.

A common problem seems to be that the battery connector is not properly seated during assembly. Pop off the back cover and visually inspect the connector. Also, there are a handful of threads regarding the issue you're having. You may want to search for them and check them out for some pertinent info.

Ok, so got the back popped off and all look connected. Power the unit back on and somehow it's at 49% and my wife said when she picked it up earlier today it was at 55%. Checked the battery stats and it's been online for 9 hrs. If I plug it in while powered on the charging icon displays as if it's charging. Just tried leaving it powered on and connecting the charger and just leaving it. If I hit the power button the charging icon comes on, so maybe it is charging, just incredibly slowly?

My cable went bad within a month. Luckily, every other item we own seems to have the same micro-usb slot, so we had a ton of other cables to try, so that fixed it. But two bad cables - I wouldn't guess that.

Try to unplug the battery and replication it again. Open the back cover and do that. You need to be carefully and not to break the pins.

[Q] Nexus4 double charging?

Odd thought popped in my head while sitting at my desk today at work....Can you double charge the Nexus4? For example, I have the wireless charger. I also have a wired charger at my desk that I used before I bought the wireless orb. Could I plug the nexus4 into the wired charger and then set it on top of the wireless orb? Would it cause any damage? Would it charge my battery any faster? Would it even do anything? Part of me says that the inductive charging wouldn't even turn on because the phone would/should know that it is pulled into a micro usb cable. Another part of me says well, the internal inductive pad is probably always active and isn't something that can be turned off? I toss this question to the people here that are smarter than me in the hardware side.

maybe, if it does perhaps battery will get hot and start to turn off one of them or maybe decrease power charge in usb or wireless charger...
but its a matter of try... i think u dont have nothing to loose cause our phones with high temperatures decrease speed and charge power..

The Nexus 4 has two main power circuits: 1) Battery Connector & Charging Circuit & 2) Wireless Charging GEN2 Circuit. These two work together with internal battery protection circuit as well. There are many controls going on while charging, such as current sensors, thermal sensors, voltage reference and voltage input detection. So basically it has been thought to avoid any problem if you happen to connect both charging supplies at the same time, as only one will act as the charger, and as far as I can understand the logic of it, it’s the USB charging that has priority over wireless charging.

Thanks! I think you are probably right, as I had this same thought just without the hardware knowledge of the device to come to a conclusion on it.

While you are at it (double charging your n4), make sure you connect the wire coming from your kite flying in the thunder and lightning outside. Triple charging beats double charging every time.

+1 and also find a way to plug the USB cable directly into the wall plug, don't use any adaptor. The extra voltage will speed things up. As far as you should be concerned the internal protection circuits will make it very safe. :good:

Suddenly...... Nexus 7 is not charging up

I have been using my nexus 7 2012 for a year now .. it worked brilliant .. but now this horrible issues has sprung in from nowhere .. the battery wont charge up, or rarely it does,, but very slowly. i am running stock 4.4 unrooted . i have checked my ports for dust, swapped several cables and chargers (also used the original charger and cable). but with no luck. Surprisingly the problem appeared suddenly, one day it charged normally , the next day i left it on charge at 60% and returned to find it on 59%.. help me .. this is driving me crazy

Install the Battery Monitor Widget - should give you an idea of charging/power consumption. I'm assuming you've tried using the stock charger and cable?

Yes i used stock and non stock chargers and cables .. i am using battery widget reborn app to monitor the battery stats.. i also attached the screen shots but for some reason they are not showing up

I think your battery connector is messed up. U might have to open your tablet and disconnect then reconnect the cables.

What should i do now coz the situation is worsening now .. it isnt charging up at all .. instead it discharges while plugged in

Search in the forum people have fixed it many times u have top open up your tablet and dc/rc yout battery.

]I too have this same issue....
I have the official dock and never had any charge issues until yesterday....
While it's in the dock, it clearly shows it charging and yet the battery meter appears to be losing charge...
I have tried with the original cable and plug among other cables and yet nothing...
The only way for me to get charged is to turn the unit off and yet it still charges painfully slow...
Anyone with a solution other than opening the thing up and hoping it's the plug?
I am running 4.4.2

Mine's having the same problem. It seems to be a hardware problem.. It's charging very slowly or can't be fully charged.
* I have other devices running 4.4 without charging problems.

Mine started with the 4.4.2 update....
It's very strange... If I turn it off and charge... it charges (again) very slowly.... 3 hours and I went from a 2% charge to 59%...
Doesn't matter if I use the dock or plug it in direct.....
So, to me... I would say a software problem... I just don't want to do a full reset and re-install if I don't have too...

my wife's was all the way dead today after not being used and wouldn't turn on. left it plugged in for 30 min and it powered on with only 2% battery. i t is stock unrooted and everything was all good until 4.4.2 is now charging very slowly. I switched to a non oem usb wire with the asus charger to see if it helps. it is the only stock android in my home (out of 7 devices) and I plan to keep it that way for now.

I've been having this issue for about a week and its not fixed. Anyone here can link me to the post where the guy DC/rc his cables? I'll try anything

You can find it on youtube.. Just search for Nexus 7 battery fix.. I've tried on both my wife's and my Nexus 7 but it's not helping. Be careful not to break any connectors..

N7 is very easy to open and close back.
I had the EXACT same issue 2-3 times this year and disconnecting the cable and reconnecting it back fixes it EVERY TIME.
The battery cable is short and the battery is loose so movement pulls the cable out. Not all pins are touching so it results in poor contacts or no contact at all.
Its a design flaw that can also be fixed by sticking a folded paper under the battery.

I'll try that when I get home. My n7 has not been charging for so long its starting to scare me. I tried pushing the cables in but it seems like its pushed as far in as it'll go.

I have opened it up and reset the battery cables...
They originally looked pretty secure though... pretty tight....
Here's hoping that unplugging and plugging the battery back is solves the issue...

Tried unplugging and replugging but it's still the same. I think it's my charging connector though. It randomly disconnects when I plug it into the PC. Tried with 3 different cables even the stock one. But I'm not sure if it's the port or the battery. It charges up to < 60 slowly but it doesn't go beyond that and starts draining. Thinking of selling it and getting a flo instead

Just a thought, but another possibility is that the ribbon cable to the USB/headphone jack flex assembly has worked loose to the point of intermittent connections. See "step 10" of iFixit's N7 teardown
Or, if the connector itself is mechanically damaged, maybe there is some way to buy just that Asus sub-assembly. Anyone have a source?

Edit - wow, folks are selling them on eBay for US $50. yikes.

I have the same problem, I purchased a nexus 7 charging dock from Amazon and it charges flawlessly. The dock charges using the 4 pins on the side of the tablet. BTW...The charging dock is under 24.00+ Shipping.
