I had to get the screen a little dirty to be able to get it to show in a pic, because it is only visible at certain angles. Even when the screen is perfectly clean it is visible. It's about a 2"x1" patch on the bottom right. I've owned my s4 for 6 months and it was purchased brand new. This has just appeared in the last month. Anyone seen this before and know what it is?

Looks like a pattern from a case. Clean it with Windex

That looks like the texture of the material of whatever pocket you're keeping it in. It should just clean off unless the material is abrasive enough to actually start damaging the glass or the screen protector if you're using one.

The only thing that matches up to the pattern is the net lining in the pocket of my north face jacket. How does the lining of a coat melt the coating of a phone screen? Is this something that happens frequently? should I get an otterbox or something to prevent more of the screen from getting melted by the lining? this seems so bizarre. never had anything like this happen with my iphone pre-android.

I've noticed it's been getting warmer. That sounds plausible... I just dunno how to get it cooler (or if that's even a possiblity). It's like my little mini computer, I'm never on the desktop anymore. Figure I just smoke the poor thing.

Hi guys and girls.
I'm familiar with the crack with the sensor. I have it too...
But know I have something what I didn't hear or read before. My right down corner is melted. (I'm now on vacation in Berlin but when I'm home I'll will post some pics).
Does somebody else have that too? I HAD my phone in a case from noreva. But I truly can't believe that my phone can get that hot that its melting...
And who is to blame? Sony or noreva?
I'd say it was the case.
Have fun in Berlin and post some pics when you're back

The chrome sides are peeling because of the heat and sweaty palms. Trust me, i enclosed my arc with a silicon instead of a hardcase because of this. The xperia arc isn't made out of *premium materials* after all

after reviewing the pics, i say it's the case.
i only use the leather pouch since the i bought my arc last june, and so far i don't see any peeling on the chrome and paint.
all i see is the "famous" crack near the light sensor
ps. it never gets hot at the buttom area, only on upper area. i think thats where the processor, memory, vga, and other stuffs that gets hot when running heavy duty apps/games
Hi guys me again. I'm back from my quick vacation. I'm glad that i'm not the only person who had this. Its indeed strange because I can't remember when its getting hot in that place. WHEN my phone is getting hot, it is normally around the camera.
Here are some pics together. It wasn't easy to make a close up.
As you can see in the bottom right pic. My case is open in that corner even when the case is closed like on the picture.
.
Damn, that looks ugly.

Hiya guys I've had the most interesting thing happen to my .sg3 yesterday. The only way to explain it is as a spontaneous screen crack! My phone just cracked by itself!! Yes without a lie! It's the most microsceptic crack I've seen and after a few minutes looking at it i decided to measure the location and it's exactly in the middle of the panel! No one believes me and people think I'm stupid. i was just wondering if anyone else has had this issue? I've done some research and have found that other Samsung phones have done this but there isn't allot of info about it.

Well from what info I've gathered on the web it is very rare!
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA
probably because of the curved glass. Curved things tend to bend when they reach certain point. the gorilla glass 2 being thinner than its predecessor should crack easier especially when bent. Send it back to Samsung, the crack seems natural and is a Samsung fault rather
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I believe you. My friends AMOLED screen crached but the glass was perfectly fine on his Droid RAZR. It was extremely weird and did not make any bit of sense.
Well see the thing is i didn't even move from my desk at work when this happened! It's so so strange. What would be the best way of contacting Samsung about this , because atm I've talked to official Samsung repair people and they all say I'm crazy and 3 just told me I'm a liar and that i broke it on purpose. Does your SGS3 have a gap down the left hand side of the screen?
Is dust building up in it?
If so, post a photo, if you can
I am returning my first SGS3 today as there is a gap between the glass and the casing.
Dust is building up in it and it looks rather unsightly.
I was just wondering if it's just me or not.
Can you see the line of dust down the left side of the screen?

I just ran my nail along the gap and managed to dig out the few flakes of dust in there, so a toothbrush should work fine.
afaik all the samsung mobiles i have used had micro gaps, its the way it is designed. cant notice the gap in s3 as it is white, but it will have it surely.
btw the micro gap is required to absorb the shocks. else all the shock will reach out the screen easily.
The problem I have is that on the left side the gap is quite substantial. Where as there is no gap at all on the right side.
It's like the whole glass part it too far over to the right.
I have seen another blue S3 at Phone 4u and there it an equal gap on either side; so I know for sure there is a problem with this batch at the 3 store.
My white one has no such gap. At least nothing I can discern anyway...

I thought there was one, it is moving slightly. But guess that's good, firmness bad for drops.
It is also an optical illusion! Depending on the lighting angle. Does it look like a big gap on the left? Flip the phone upside down, the gap is still on the left it doesn't flip. Not worried now after noticing it, you had me for 20sec.

My C fell off when my phone was sitting on my lap on a road trip. I guess the sun was too hot for it and the glue just turned to cupcake frosting. I ended up taking the other two letters off along with the C and it doesn't look too bad! All that gunk in the C in the OP's picture can be rubbed out so it has a clean look.

possible you can post a pic? might just do that.
While I was cleaning the back of my phone I noticed one of the letters moving, so I went ahead and took all 3 out.
I used rubbing alcohol to get the rest of the glue out, and it's pretty clean now.
I actually prefer the feel of the back without the letters. It was weird at first, but I think it feels better.

RIP "C" lol ...sorry bout that bruh
You know this gives me an idea...
With the filler removed from those placeholders there's enough countersink to fill with epoxy and then sand smooth.
Clear five minute epoxy resin could be used and you can make them any color you want by mixing in a bit of acrylic paint found in a craft store.
Get creative!
Just be sure that it's clean so the epoxy sticks well. Or it could fall out again...
I'm willing to bet that properly mixed epoxy will stay put though.
sad times right now, good thing is that its going back to att once the new phone is released =)
similar to the Nexus 5 ...all the Nexus letters on my white and red housing have been RIP'ed
wow, i didnt even know that they could rip off like that ?? I say you clean it up and throw some black silicone RTV in there and no one will be able to tell the difference haha

Got the same case I have gotten for every phone since I switched to Samsung with the GS6. The things are gorgeous, I can't see covering that up.

Same case I get for every device. The Ringke slim. Almost like nothing at all, providing minimal protection. It's all I've ever needed.
This is the Spigen Neohybrid Crystal case with gunmetal siding. I think if you want to show the original colors, this case makes it look better than a pure clear case as the bumper provides a nice contrast in texture and look. I liked the blue coral phone exterior but not so much for the gold edging. The gunmetal edging fixed that and the clear case retained the original look.

Bummer, mine dropped from around 4-5 ft from my back pocket. Landed square on the top right corner, I have the S View flip case, case ended up with a little road rash, but to my relief the phone came out unscathed. Haven't carried it in my back pocket since, I think it's to tall and not wide enough to back pocket unlike the Nexus 6... Seems to fit in the front pocket better than previous Notes IMO...
