For those with a Verizon VS980 that installedd/upgraded to TWRP 2.6.3.4 from this thread, have any issues using OTG or installing custom ROMs? I've seen a few from that thread have problem with the later but they were on a different model. Just trying to get a feel for how stable this recovery is before I forget about it and it bites me later if it won' restore or something.
I'm new to Android so kinda nervous about installing something that isn't listed on the TWRP VS980 G2 repository. They latest listed there is 2.6.3.3 but that .zip failed via Flashify and TWRP 2.6.3.2. Any reason for concern?
I appreciate any responses/feedback.

I am also keeping an eye out for 2.6.3.4. Would like to backup to OTG.
I've used the OTG to move backups off the device with 2.6.3.4 but I haven't tried to restore any backups yet or flash any custom ROMs.
What I gather is...
4.3 based ROM use 2.6.3.2 (no OTG) or 2.6.3.3 (OTG)
4.4 based ROM use 2.6.3.4
I'm not sure if 2.6.3.4 will restore a backup of 4.3, created by 2.6.3.4 (in this case, stock VS98011A). I suppose I may have to downgrade the recovery back to 2.6.3.2/3 to restore.

Thanks for the feedback but I went ahead and installed 2.6.3.4 some time back. I believe I flashed via TWRP 2.6.3.2, not adb, so I'm not so sure that statement is accurate.
Anyway, sorry for reiterating but my concern is regarding for those that have installed it 2.6.3.4....
has anybody had issues with OTG (the reason for this question is i'd considered moving all nandroids off the device to save space. i'm no longer concerned because I can always move the backup back to the phone's storage via adb.
has anybody had issues flashing ROMs? seems there may be an issue with 4.3 based ROMs. Not sure about this.
If i upgrade from twrp .3 to .4 how do you downgrade it just flash the .3 back over the .4?
http://www.mediafire.com/?83rbyi1r5n51hpu
Working 2.6.3.3 twrp for the vs980. Just flash it like you would a ROM, and yes, if you're on 2.6.3.4 and flash it, then you will roll back to 2.6.3.3

Now i just need to find twrp .4 for the tmo version thank you so much now maybe i can flash hellfire! Also do you happen to know if i will lose my back ups if i flash forward and back?
That, I am not sure of. I wouldn't think so but no idea.

Greetings all knowing androidians...
I am currently on cm10.2 stable and have been trying to move to cm11 for a while but every time I go to flash it fails. I see that others are running it no problem so I'm confused or at least suspect something is different and I am missing it.
Details :
vs980
Twrp 2.6.3.2
Cm 10.2 stable
If you'd looked around .... your recovery is a little old.
I'm using 2.6.3.4 and having no problem with kitkat.
I did and attempted to update to Twrp 2.6.3.3 but wouldn't flash said that the recovery was not a loki file... Another issue I ran into. As for 2.6.3.4.. I haven't been able to find that version.

I'm using 2.6.3.4 (recovery-flashable zip) from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2469995
You guys are genius... Loki updated... Attempting to flash!
OK used free gee to update to 2.6.3.3. Tried updating to .4 using the zip provided and using the flash from zip function built into freegee but eventhough it says successful it isn't flashing. How can I get free gee to recognize .4 or should I not worry about it?
I will keep saying this! I really dunno why you people keep using TWRP! I always read issues about TWRP and not with CWM! I use Philz touch recovery which is CWM-based (see original android development). It works like magic with a lot of nice features!

Does Philz-CWM have OTG support yet ?
I started out yrs ago on CWM ---> moved to TWRP due to excellent OTG support and stick with TWRP since, on multiple devices.
OTG support is a MUST for me --> I can have many GBs worth of ROMBackups on my USBs which I can switch easily.
All my ROMs are on the USB too, easy to get to... not a worry to wipe the phone.
By the way, I've not seen any issue with 2.6.3.4 yet (doing 4.2.2 & 4.4.2).
I posted in the noob thread with no response. .I've searched xda and the net via google.
My issue is non logical and selective programs that will not allow down loading to the internal storage. .yes I saw the long list of not downloading to the sd card, but mine is internal memory. The external sd works fine.
I was running bone stock 4.4.2 for a week no issues. I rooted via cf autoroot and lost ability to save files from any program I found ..zedge..swift key language pack..chrome etc.
Last night did a full wipe and factory reset in twrp. Then restored from backup the stock nae found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50668765
And still have same issues except this time Internet Explorer is allowing image downloads to the internal memory?? Other programs are still the same.
Thanks
EDIT
Update - Found TWRP has an issue that causes loss write abiltity to internal storage with some roms after you do a restore...read about in in the Sacs Thread

So, tryed flashing unknowns stock rom and after multiple fix permissions wipes etc AND reading about 20 plus pages of the thread, had more problems than the other stock rom
Seems others had internal download issues, but maybe some kind person here could direct me to a solution as they did not appear to have one?? At this Time, Im sorry I ever rooted this thing...S3 and all my old phones rocked..this thing stinks...thanks samsung.... anyway...is there anyway to return to stock, I know I did it on MK2, just not sure on NAE and just dont wanna screw this thing up more than it is

Stock unrooted NAE? If so, download the tar that is on Dev section by random45. Use Odin to flash it. Back up anything important just in case.

So I found the culpert. TWRP recovery. I went back to unrooted stock and started over.. TWRP seems to work great, but after flashing a couple roms, then restoring my Stock rooted version of 4.4.2.. I lost write to internal again
Last night started reading thru Sacs thread and found it to be an issue for some and not others. I still do not fully know, but in reading, some say TWRP works, just not with all roms

Just throwing this out there.. I've had no problems at all using Philz Recovery. Even with the ROMs that say TWRP is recommended. Its never let me down maybe worth a shot?!

Using philz 6.57.8 although i prefer TWRP. I think it cleans better but the restores have been less than reliable so I just stick with philz.

+1, exactly what I'm doing. I'm normally an avid twrp user, but it just doesn't work as well as philz on our device.
I used to be a huge fan of TWRP until JellyBean. Since then Philz has worked the best and the fact the more options to wipe

Philzs seems to be working with no issues
Philzs. Prefer it over TWRP. If TWRP becomes more reliable then maybe or of Philz becomes unresponsive since he abandon that project then I would have no choice but to use TWRP I use it once when I had my evo
KT TWRP 2.8.4.2 all the way, I like the way it works plus I'm using a Materialized theme which is cool. KT has seems to worked out a lot of the issues with TWRP so it seems pretty stable.
I was using TWRP 2.8.1.0 but it didn't properly reboot my phone just now. I've installed TWRP 2.8.4.0, and it appears to be working well. I'm doing a current nandroid backup now as I haven't done one since installing Lollipop (OA6).
Let me ask a question havent really used KT TWRP. When i backup eith PHILZ my backup size is around 2.5gb depending on compression. does KT TWRP do better

Your recovery has no bearing on the performance of the ROM or your device.

Nope. I tried TWRP and all roms have slow performance. This ia because TWRP formats the phone with slow filesystem. Clockwork formats with a better fs and all roms works more fast than an one installed by TWRP.. can I use official CM recovery to install CM10.1? I tried CM11 recovery but it can't install CM under version 11.. when I try to flash cm10.1 it says "assert failed" ...

What file system do you think TWRP formats it in that is slow that CWM accomplishes?
Sent from my SCH-R220
It says "Formatting data using make_ext2fs function" , I dont't know, maybe ext2. CWM says only "wiping data", I don't know what fs formats in, but the performance in any rom is more fast than rom flashed via TWRP. I don't know, I'm now with cwm 6 and CM10.1, works good now..

By default they both format with the same file system. I have used both recoveries flashing the same ROMs and there has been 0 difference in ROM performance, including f2fs. Tried on Stock and CM based Lollipop ROMs as well as multiple Marshmallow ROMs.

wait, make_ext2fs?
Have you updated your TWRP recovery in a while? I did a fresh install of TWRP (3.0.2) on a SGS4 last night, and it used make_ext4fs.
Most modern versions of Android use either ext4 or f2fs, so that could be your problem.
It could also just as easily be a mistake in the installation scripts in the rom itself, have you looked through the comments on the specific rom you're trying to install for anyone else having this issue?
Recoveries have no effect on the ROM's performance. The recovery is just a way of installing the ROM.
