I'm running 4.4.2 on a rooted Note 3.
I was wondering... if I downloaded stock android apps like... dialer/contacts, camera, gallery, clock... can I just freeze the stock Samsung ones via Titanium Backup and use the stock android ones as default? Would that work normally? Anything I should take into consideration?
Thanks =)

I don't think simple like that .
especially if you take it from other device. And even same device, if you take it from AOSP, you can't just simply uninstall old one, and replace new one. you will have FC.
Because samsung apps if a modded to work on TW framework, and the AOSP apps some need modification first to be able to work on TW framework.
I could be wrong
Cheers.

However there is tons and tonsbof application that I honestly never see need for like dropbox, etc. My phone is rootef with CWM recovery, it has the latest superus but I have not installed a rom since im planning to make my own rom sometime in the future. My main concer is whetger there is a zip I can instal that will remove some apps. Preferbably something that is not rom based. I like the stock look of the samsung. Id really appreciate it thanks.

Here ya go bro. Not a flashable zip, but you can chose what to remove and all those apps listed are "safe to remove" (hence the name!) lol.

If you're rooted, you can uninstall with TB. Remember to backup before you attempt to remove something and you might need it for something else to function. This is something I stumped on and I use to customize and remove apps which I do not use/need.

Zips as in apps? and games? look at the play store, plenty of free apps you can download and try out.
edit:
Unless you're refering to an app that will help you remove unwanted apps off your phone, try installing Titanium Backup.

Hi all...sorry if this is very noob but hope someone can help me out...
i got my galaxy s4 for att and its been great so far...i did root it and got rid of all the junk stuff on the phone which was nice to do... but a little issue now..there is an OTA update and its trying to apply it by rebooting but it goes to my console screen i guess and i know even if it applies it it would get rid of root.... is there a way to apply this without having to reinstall all my emails (5 emails) and my apps and keep the root ability on it? I would love to get the feature to send apps to my SD thats the only reason i really want it.
again im sorry if this is very noobish to some of u but would like a nice guide if possible how to do it.
Thanks in advance
What device? Thats important, and DO NOT let it do the update. if you are rooted, you could freeze the samsung updater.
I would get off stock and flash a custom rom.

hehe I know you stated galaxy s4, but I needed to make sure, US version right?
Use my rom, mine is totally stock, with a few modifications, and FAST!
or you can go any TW rom.
here is mine..
[ROM] ViSiON-X v1.0|AROMA|4.2.2|MGA|TW|[08-03]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2391142
then you will not have to worry about an update, until someone finds a patch for the update...

I use Infamous S4 as well, I love it. It's pretty stock feeling.
When it comes to the backing up part, I suggest Titanium Backup. Get the pro version and you can batch install all of your apps from a backup, otherwise you have to do it one by one. It also saves all app data and system data and accounts, so you can do a full wipe when installing an update or a new ROM (always a good idea,) then just let it completely restore the phone from a backup. You can use it to back-up everything, except for the home-screen layout (android limitation apparently.) Plus you can backup right to the phone if you have space so you don't have to wory about using the computer. I recomment getting a microSD card for 10 bucks at Staples and backing up to that. When you're restoring, make sure that you check what you're restoring. Most of the stuff in red are system apps that don't need to be restored (as newer or the same versions may already be installed from the update.)
For restoring root priviledges, CWM and TWRP custom rrecoveries have a tool for this.
I bought my S4 in Korea. It is a SHV 300S LTE device. Octa core sold through SKT.
I would like to remove all the bloatware, maximize battery life, and use nova launcher with the click UI icons.
Should I root my device? If so why? What are the top 5 ROMs?
Also what is the best / easiest method for backing up my device? (apps, info, ect)
Also, is there an app or software to which I manage my music preferably similar to itunes and iphone? Would like for the phone to be able to automatically add new music to my device and keep it up to date.
Sorry for all the questions. Any and all advice will be much appreciated. Thanks
Idk if your variant has any roms but the best roms on i9500 are Omega, Wanam and Crash ROMs. Theres Cyanogenmod too but thats in alpha I think.
You can remove bloatware with Titanium Backup after root and you can backupw ith it too. And CWM backups are good too.

How can I find out my variant? All I am seeing is SHV-300S.
Also I have not updated to 4.3. Should I do that first or after a root?

Removing bloatware is possible only after rooting your phone.
If you want to backup your device after rooting, you can do it if you will flash custom recovery (CWM or TWRP)
For backup without the root you can try Helium app from PlayStore.
I don't know if there is any custom ROM for your variant of S4, i'm sure if there is, you will find it here on xda.
I also don't know any app to sync music automaticly, simply i never needed one.
Hope that helps a little bit.

What rooting method / tutorial would you recommend?
Maybe I am better off just freezing apps?
try cf-root
Does anyone have a custom rom for Sprint Samsung Galaxy S4 (Model: SPH-L720) stock 4.2.2, that completely and safely removes all bloatware except stock tools such as video, s memo, clock, stock browser, calender, YouTube, calculator, Gmail, etc. using Odin to flash it? I am currently unrooted and can root my phone with CF root on Odin when I get home if needed. Hoping someone kind could share a link to get this rom and how to install it?

Root your phone and use titanium backup to delete all the bloatware you want
Edit,, just make a back up before you start deleting all kinds of stuff unless you don't mind having to Odin back to stock
Sent from my SPH-L720 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

I wouod but I don't trust myself with removing apps as I have tried twice before and failed twice before. Even found a guide on what to delete but they show the file rype names, not the app names.
Heres one you may like if you like the stock touch wiz feel.

Im new to roms and flashing but i just flashed this one last night and love it . Its Stock based touch wiz with a Blue theme and a lot of good tweaking mods. Just make a back up incase something goes wrong!
Are you already rooted?
Do you have custom recovery?
What carrier do you have?
Go on youtube and type in Negalite rom S4. A video with high on android will pop up... watch all of his videos theres a lot of good info in them.
Hi! I'm new to these forums and customizing my S4 in general, but i think im getting the hang of it.
So basically right now im running cyanogenmod 10.2 (with clockworkmod 6.0.4.7) and i was wondering
if there is a way to keep the camera from the stock firmware? I was thinking going back to stock jelly bean,
backing up the camera app (with titanium backup) and then restoring it once i installed cm10.2 again.
If this way doesnt work, can you tell me one that does? If one exists, of course.
Thanks
No you can not do that. The TouchWiz camera is specifically for TouchWiz, it's deeply embedded and no way of making it work on any other rom.
