I cannot get into phone at all. Screen is not responding. I want to mount my SD card to get my crap off, but I can't get to homescreen to allow PC to mount the drive. I booted to recovery and TWRP is not accepting touch either. Any idea how I can get my stuff off this phone? I can't take to a place to have repaired due to sensitive data I can't have out of my site.

Are you familiar with 'adb pull' command? I'd do that command to pull everything on the SD card and then restore the phone with LG flash tools.

No, but I will google it. You think that will work? Am I pull root and below or do you choose folders to pull?

You can choose folders to pull but it'll be easier to just 'adb pull /sdcard/ C:\User\Destination\folder' and that will pull everything from the SD card to a folder
I've done that many times, the only thing it didnt work was when it wanted to pull a file with Cyrillic or arabic letters it would not pull those files.

I finally got around to rooting mine earlier today..
Ever since, I can't get either of my computers (both Mac and PC) to recognize the phone for mounting the SD card. It charges fine via USB but is impossible to mount as USB storage. Any ideas on this?
Maybe a driver issue?
I thought that originally. But if that were the case, I wouldn't have been able to connect to them previously (no changes in drivers on the computers) or been able to connect to complete the root process. I'm kind of at a loss for ideas right now.
hmm strange... I'm a android newbie so i don't think i can help passed driver
Method?

Hey what method did you use to root? If you can mount your internal storage but not your sdcard, can your phone read your sd card when the phone is booted normally? Perhaps you damaged your slot?

exactly what i was thinking, but myz06vette are you able to view content from your sd card using just your phone? ex: music, movies or pictures?
Yes, I can view content on my SD card and internal phone storage on the phone itself using Root Explorer or ASTRO. I didn't use the method that required me to pull the SD card out. I can play music stored on the card and view all my photos, so I know its reading okay. I even took the SD card out and put it in a memory card reader and it hooked up to the computer fine.. mounted right away. Just won't mount through the phone.

The development.apk packaged in many Dream/G1 ROMs has an option to scan for media. Try that
BTW, *#*#4636#*#* also works from the dialer to pull up phone/radio options, which will allow you to switch between cdma auto (PRL) --> cdma only -->> ev-do only. The latter two options should save you battery!
Thanks for the advice! I updated to CDMA-only right when I got the phone.. so I honestly can't say whether or not its saving me battery since I don't know what it was like set to CDMA auto PRL hahaa.
I tried installing the Dev Tools apk you attached, but each time I do, it says "Application not installed" with the yellow !triangle next to it.

Sorry, man -- that .apk was from an Eclair build -- try the new one I put up -- it's from an Espresso build, I just installed in on my DI -- all good
Hah alright fair enough. This one loaded fine.
Checking it out now... will report back. Thanks!
Half of the options in the app force close.
Media scanner loaded, but isn't helping me mount the sd card to my computer.
Any more ideas?

So you've checked your settings in "Connect to PC" -- perhaps your "always ask" option is cleared and it's set to HTC Sync, for example? What do you get in the SDcard/Storage menu? Any stats for the SDcard? What happens when you elect to eject it in that menu?
Storage menu shows total space and free space like it should.
Connect to PC is currently set to Ask me everytime.. option for Disk Drive selected just to try and force it to mount..
Removed SD card.. did battery pull reset.. still nothing.

That's frustrating. You might have to back-up your sdcard data on a PC and re-format the card, then copy the data back. I'm assuming you have a card reader.
I hadn't thought until just now to try another card. I've got a few sitting around here somewhere. I'll try that before taking the time to backup almost a full 16 gigs of stuff, format, then restore it all.

Do you have some sort of app killer/task manager auto killing the obex service? Ive noticed i have problems when it isnt running, but when it is running it kills battery like mad. Try going to settings>applications>running services and see if its running next time you try to mount. It should show up under calendar. Hope this helps.
P.S. I only let this service run when i need to plug into my pc, since it seems to keep the phone from being able to "sleep" properly. So if you have something killing it, or the calendar app has been removed that may have a part in your problem.
I searched and couldnt find anything about this. I have a question is it okay to remove the nandroid back ups from the sd card and save them on your computer? (to save room on the sdcard) and if indeed i do need to use it pop the sd card into my computer copy it back over to the sd card and then run the recovery to use the back up? would this work? or am i missing something about the backup process.
never tried this before, but i am sure it will work.
Yeah, i dont think it would matter either. But i'd rather ask and get a positive answer before i do it, mess up and need it and it not work anymore lol.

Of course that will work and no, you don't have to take out the card, just use the Partitions menu in Koush's recovery to mount the phone on USB, then you can cut and paste from the card, or even format, to your heart's content on your PC. Just make sure you properly dismount the volume (only /sdcard shows up in recovery, not /emmc, for some reason) in your PC, then use the track button to dismount from the DI.

Thank you sir, appreciate it.
Hey all,
So I just ran ClockworkMod (2.5.13) and wiped my Vibrant in preparation for the new Bionix. I have found that on my phone I had to wipe sdcard too or it wouldn't wipe fully. The problem: ClockworkMod won't let me mount USB storage or mount sdext so I can't figure out how to get the new ROM on the phone. Voodoo is also enabled and I can't seem to disable it without a working ROM on the phone.
When I plug the phone into my PC the "H" and "I" drives automatically pop up but are inaccessible. Mounting USB storage in ClockWorkMod appears to do nothing.
Any ideas? Thanks!
ohhhhhhhhh
I had the same problem last night but i thought my PC was acting up. I guess it has to do with CWM, but idk why.
What i did was copy the ROM on my external sd card, then put it on the phone and move them to internal sd card
Hope that help
you can use adb to push file to your phone.

CWM won't let me mount SDEXT. Is there something special I have to do to get this to work?
You may have to pull the sd card and use an external card reader.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
ADB did the trick. I didn't realize it could push to the phone like that. Easy cheesy. Thanks!
And as for external SD card reader - this doesn't do anything to help transfer a file to the phone. Recovery was unable to mount SDEXT. I can't find any documentation on the matter, but I assume this is a Vibrant-related issue?
Hi, I just have the exact problem on my galaxy note. Trouble is that I can't find a way to connect to my phone through ADB. It just isn't listed when I type "adb devices". I would appreciate any help so I could "push" a rom and be done with it.

Check Applications/Development/Enable USB Debugging. If that is on, make sure you have the necessary drivers on the PC.
As for mounting via CWM, that should work if CWM gives the option. Again, check drivers on PC.
I have installed A7Comb rom which mostly does a good job. The biggest problem is that external sdcard and usb are inaccessible. If I choose to go back to 3.01 where I had this capability, access to external sdcard is required to flash the old rom. Am I screwed or are there any other alternatives?
ooorah
im not positive, but if i remember correctly you have access to the external sd (using Root Explorer or something like it) there is /Mnt/sdcard check in there im not sure the exact directory, but im pretty sure it was in there when i was using A7comb, then you can copy and paste the update.zip to the root of the sd
Let me know if you can't find it, i will flash A7comb real quick to give you a hand
Catch-22 eLocity A7
smallba, Thanks for the reply. Can root explorer be used to do the rom flashing? I can get the 1.41 rom on the sdcard using my desktop, but the A7 can't see it. I've tried to flash using the start button routine, but it never recognizes the sdcard and sends me back to boot. Then I cant boot until I remove the sdcard. Also, even though I'm rooted and have superuser, root explorer always fc's. What a mess.

I know I been asking many questions, but it recognized in the accer?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
Yes, sdcard was recognized in Acer 500. Content was shown under external sd.
A7
What rom are you trying to flash back to?
I had some issues reverting back from A7Comb.
I think I had to flash back to stock first.
Re: your previous post, how can I flash back to stock if I can't find external sd?
ooorah
Cant read SD
I reloaded my copy of A7Comb and will play around with it to see if I run into the same issue. If the SD can't be used, it may be possible to connect via USB/ADB and push the stock images.
However, I have never used ADB with the A7, only with other devices. I will also try and figure that out to see if that's a viable option. Will need to find the drivers and get those loaded. Been meaning to test ADB with this device anyway.
Thanks DANO, I'd appreciate the help.
ooorah
I'll do what I can, I'm no expert, but I am very comfortable with ADB and have no concerns about messing with my A7. I've been meaning to do this for a while anyway. Will probably take me a few days to get get the A7 connected to ADB as its USB port doesn't play nice, and there are some tricks to getting windows/ADB to pick up the device. I'm also gonna try and lookup Dexter to see if he can give me some tips on doing this.
I used ADB last March and rooted my CRUZ 7" tablet. Whether it will work with a usb connection to eLocity A7 will have to be tried. I'll play around to see if I can get it working. If I get that far I'll have to wait for further instructions.
ps I can use a usb keyboard with no problem. ooorah
Yeah, keyboards, thumb drives, etc. should all work as the A7’s USB slot is set to host mode by default. The trick is flipping the switch to slave/device mode so we can use ADB to communicate with it.
Dexter’s A7Comb Rom had an App “OTG” for doing this (with a reboot), but when I tried it out, my Windows 7 box only saw the device but still didn’t fully communicate with it (ADB didn’t see it at all). Most likely due to the lack of a driver, or rather telling it where the driver was.
I’ve got some info on doing this, and I plan on trying to get this up and going tonight. Once I get ADB connected to the A7, I would think we should be able to push a new recovery image or something along those lines to fix whatever happened with the SD Card.
Just curious, have you tried a factory reset, data wipe, etc. (then reboot back into recovery), and tried to run the update.zip from the SD Card. I doubt this will work, but the A7 re-writes the recovery image with each update, therefore if something got corrupted, perhaps a wipe will fix whatever is broken in recovery by way of re-writing it. I’m not sure if recovery gets replaced with just a data wipe/reset, but if you don’t mind resetting your device it might be worth a shot.
After having formatted my internal sdcard, I'm unable to flash any rom. I've installed cwm revorery and would like to push a rom to the sdcard in order to be able to flash it, because right now theres nothing on my card (its totally formatted without any system on it).
When i try to push a file via toolkit to the internal sdcard there appears the following error message:
- exec ' /system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory (2) -
Can anybody help me out with this issue?
It looks like the error is saying it is missing a file in /system/bin/, which makes sense since internal storage is completely wiped.
Just start a command prompt in Windows and change directory to where adb.exe is in the android sdk. Then copy the ROM you want to install into the same directory as adb. Use the command "adb push blahblahblah.zip" to push the ROM from your PC to the internal storage. Obviously replacing blahblahblah.zip with whatever the ROM filename is.
Toolkit's can be handy, but before you use one you need to know how to unlock your phone and copy files to/from your device without a toolkit. So that way when problems arise you know what probably went wrong and how to fix it.
Probably not really helpful, but I was able to push files to /sdcard when I wiped all options and formatted Data with TWRP.
Same problem here
Please help us. I accidentally did the same. Now I can't copy file to the device. CWM is still functioning but there is nothing left to flash.

Just flash TWRP recovery via Fastboot then mount the SD card as USB storage. Once you have done this you can copy a new Rom over and flash it.
Thanks for your quick reply!

How do I change directory to where adb.exe is? what is android sdk? I'd be very happy if you could explain me some of the steps to achieve that or lead me to a tutorial where I can learn it.
Thanks again!

Was it easy enough even without the use of a toolkit?
Your tutorial is very clear and easy to understand. I followed all the steps, but still couldn't find the pushed ROM on my SD card (after having waited for about 5 minutes). So I mounted all you can with cwm and used the toolkit - and it worked! Probably it was the directory that was set right after having followed your tutorial. Thanks again!!
