[Q] Kitkat and bluetooth sux... - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Okay... I have a rogers SGH-i337m GS4 and I tried many ROM variants through it since it came out on the market. But Kitkat is possible the worst as far as bluetooth functionality is concerned. Every Kitkat ROM (including the stock Rogers Kitkat that just came out) all seem to have issue with bluetooth. The bluetooth issues range from random disconnects, no media audio streaming and phone only (or vise versa) and not being able to connect to pc.
Has anyone else had these annoying issues? Anyone have solutions?
Thanks!

[Q] [N9005] Bluetooth not detecting headphones nor pairing after NG1 update

So after flashing NG1 my bluetooth headphones are no longer detected.
Barely detecting other devices.
The only device it detects is an unknown one (probably from the neighbours?) that occasionally appears.
But headphones don't even appear.
They were fine before flashing.
When i was reading about the bluetooth issues from other device like the SIII and car pairing difficulties
i only had one thing in common with them :
* Several of my contacts appeared to have been duplicated.
But in my situation ,deleting them did not restore bluetooth pairing or detecting of devices.
Anyone else having issues with bluetooth?
Or better yet that knows what the issue and could steer me into the right direction at least?
Truelly regret going updating to UEFNG2,so many issues had me flashing my phone as if i was doing it for a living.
And so far it doesn't look like NG1 is makes things better.
Tried a factory reset?

Any ROM/KERNEL/RADIO/Combo that will guarantee stable WiFi and Bluetooth?

I've been using Nexus 4 for 4 years now and only last year I began to need bluetooth in it for BT Keyboard and a mouse. That's when I discovered problems with this phone.
Using bluetooth and Wifi at the same time was impossible - WiFi would disconnect and I'd have to reconnect it manually each time - so I used a WiFi watchdog-reconnecter app for that, but still it was really annoying and caused few seconds internet outage each minute.
Then few months ago I've started using a smartwatch with smart notifications via bluetooth - and Nexus had problems with pairing and then with keeping the connection with the watch - it would randomly disconnect or I'd have to reboot the phone to try and connect the watch again. Watch automatically scans for the phone and tries to autoconnect to it - but Nexus is so terrible at it. I've tested the watch with other smartphones and none had these issues - all was flawless.
These problems all occured for me on all ROMs I've used with Android 4.4+ and I've tried stocks, EuphoriaOS, Chroma, PureNexus and now DirtyUnicorns. If I remember well, I had better bluetooth times with Chroma, but that I'll have to test again to make sure.
So guys here are my questions:
1. Do you know if Nexus 4 WiFi/Bluetooth problems were ever finally solved with a patch?
2. If you can relate your position to mine (using a smartwatch or something else that needs to reconnect to the phone automatically) then do you have these problems? If not, which ROM are you using and which kernel?
3. I've read that kernels don't matter in bluetooth and that it's mostly ROM based issue? Is that true, or maybe a specific kernel helps for these problems?
I'm using bluetooth to play music.
In the past I've had issues with audio cutting out over bluetooth on the official firmware. At some point it got fixed but I cannot remember when exactly.
Right now I am using PureNexus 6.0.1-20160311 and the audio problems came back.
That's all I can say but I did have a reliable ROM in the past.
Edit : I just installed the latest CM13 snapshot (2016-04-29) with Hellspawn r12 and Bluetooth audio stopped skipping.
I'm on the Resurrection Remix ROM, with no problems but I only use Bluetooth for the occasional file transfer.

Bluetooth issue i9505

Dear forum,
really looking for some help with the bluetooth connection and/or some pointers into the right direction.
Before anyone asks, yes I have searched the forum(s) and googled days in a row, tried several builds and found a lot of bluetooth questions/issues but not this specific issue nor a solution.
Have a S4 i9505 which has a perfect bluetooth connection with my Renault Carminat system using the stock rom. As I had other issues with the stock rom, I rooted and upgraded the phone to Optimized LineageOS 14.1 (7.1.2). When pairing the phone to the car, it all works fine (it doesn't disconnect - which is a commonly reported issue). media streaming works fine, the car audio system also responds to the phone (and vice versa), contacts are imported etc. The big issue is however that there is no sound (nor receiving nor sending) when a call is received and/or intitiated.
In my quest to resolve this issue I let the dealer upgrade the firmware of the car audio system, tried with at least two different (but similar) S4 i9505 phones on custom roms, tried several other custom builds (from CM12 to CM14), tried an older but also the latest modem/BL for my region (XXSPQA1), tried some nightly builds but in all cases the exact same issue remains. Only when I go back to the stock rom, I have again a perfect bluetooth connection. A S5 (with stock Android 6) can connect to my system without issues as well.
So my thoughts are that the issue lies within custom roms as even a custom rom based on the same Android version as stock rom doesn't work properly.
Any thoughts what I can do more? Is it possible to copy the BT files from the stock rom and copy it to the custom rom? Any ideas? If it can help to post certain logs I will absolutely do so. Phone is on stock rom again now.
Thank you for your support!
I have exactly the same issue on my I9505, every time i connect to bluetooth (previous car, new car bluetooth speaker calling seems to work , but ther is no sound (only the end of call beep. and also, after disabling bluetooth, the sound is still not working ... i have to reboot my mobile to be able to call again. i hope this issue can be resolved
( when connecting to a bluetooth device for playing media blutooth works )
Same here. I hear a distortion sound when a call is made though. Worked fine with 5.X and broken in 8.0 and 8.1. I tried various modems as well. I even changed codecs in the developer options and didn't find one that worked. i9505

Nexus Player Android O WiFi and Bluetooth issues

Hi, shortly ( a couple of days) after enrolling into the Android O beta my much beloved Nexus Player lost all WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities. Factory reset and flashing back Android Nougat did fix it, so it looks like some hardware issue with the wifi/ bluetooth chip.
Coincident or did anyone have similar experiences?
btw. happend 6 weeks after the hard warranty ended
I had the same issue but would work intermittently. I flashed back to nougat and have the same issue with 2 different nexus players. Seems like the devices are starting to fail.

I've got the same issues here right now. WiFi disconnecting frequently and low bitrate streaming only. On Android 8.0.. this bug needs to be reported
any update on this guys?
Possible solutions:
A) Ethernet cable.
B) use an app to "ping" to Wifi all the time.
I use method A and i stop facing Wifi drops
Looks like the November Oreo patch ( more like a full reinstall ) may have fixed the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi issues.
My remote is no longer constantly blinking and more responsive. I was also able to pair my phone. Haven't been able to do that for a while.

LG V20 US996 Terrible Bluetooth Issues? Updates?

Hello all,
I love this phone and overall it is much better quality than the Oneplus One it replaced. The issue is with Bluetooth. I have the unlocked US996 variant, not the US Cellular one and the firmware is 10f. I have unlocked it and rooted it. Bluetooth seems to be extremely flaky.
The issues are as follows:
1. I have multiple Pebble smartwatches (Pebble Classic, Pebble Time and Pebble 2SE) as well as an older Samsung Gear Live Android Wear watch. These all lose Bluetooth connection a while after connecting. Not really noticeable since the phone apps for both Pebble and Android Wear will usually still say "connected." This is the largest issue I am having. Clearing bluetooth data in Settings > Apps seemed to work for a time, but now it seems to work for a bit and then loses connection again.
2. Bluetooth audio cuts out for a second every twenty minutes give or take during playback through my car stereo/headphones. This is relatively minor. I have also had it cut out during a call having to switch to phone speaker.
I am guessing this might be an issue with the bluetooth stack that LG used in the 10f firmware? I have had similar issues with Bluetooth with my Oneplus One, but changing up roms (even roms on the same version of Android had differing results). I settled with OmniRom on that phone and the BT connection on it is bulletproof at the moment.
Reading about this phone is a bit confusing due to all of the variants out there. I was thinking of updating the phone to the 10h firmware, but I am not sure how to go about doing so, or even if I can? Will I lose the ability to root? I do not mind using other ROMs if I have to, but on this phone, stock really feels nice to me and it does everything I want it to.
