Just from experience, markets across seas always get it first. Does that mean that it will be after April 26th before the Sprint Hero gets the 2.1 update?
i not surprised if this is true with sprint getting the nexus and the powerhouse is being left in the wind
If this is overseas, this could be 2 or 3 months till the sprint htc hero updates.
I told you to root and flash DamageCotrol v1...

Why so pessimistic?? I'm not sure if you guys are right or wrong, but the article DOES say we'd be getting it soon after, why so scared?
Besides...once Taiwan leaks the Hero ROM, won't that be the same as when they release it for our phones? Am I wrong or isn't the overseas Hero the same but with GSM? Shouldn't we be able to perfect the 2.1 ROMs with that? I mean that would be pretty damn close with having the Eris leak as well, I don't know but I just don't see why to be scared and why to not get excited to see the actual overseas leak.

Because TODAY was our original speculation date. So after seeing this, it appears we have a month or more to wait. The biggest thing is that we havent been given a confirmed date and its getting tense.
Anyway, I just posted this for others to see something new.

Well....
Keyword-Speculation..
Stop speculating and you won't be upset...
It's not like 2.1 is going to bring an all new world, once it comes out we're just going to be inundated with well.. what now threads an hour after everyone updates..
Patience is a virtue...
didn't some self proclaimed "sprint employee" leak that date? (i've been looking, maybe they edited their original post)
But I'm going to take everything I read in the future from such sources with an extra grain of salt on top of the first. In other words... POIDH
A couple sites are saying April 9th (now), because Sprint is apparently issuing some network updates then,

We'll see when it gets here

Start running the ROMs and I think you'll chill a lot more. Plus if ANY Hero gets updated, I bet the ROMs will be perfected a little more which is still something to look forward to.
I honestly have been on DC 1.0, and yeah not everything works, but then what will work with 2.1? Will we have LWP? The builds we have may even have more than the 2.1 Sprint will give us. I mean keeping LWP off our phones but on the Nexus still keeps a reason to make us upgrade. Which means we need to hack it
Listen guys, I didnt put any exclamation marks in any of my posts. I was just simply bringing up what I found for some discussion on peoples thoughts. I am currently running Fresh Toast 2.0c and completely happy with it. This isnt to start a battle about how pissed I am, just hadnt seen anyone post this little tid bit.
Sprint 1st said first half of the year, then updated to beginning of 2nd quarter, so between April 1st to May 14th. Want some advice? Stop putting so much stock on the rumors and wait for an official date. Sprint is notorious for terrible communication and missing dates so don't expect 2.1 sooner rather than later.
Yes this pisses me off too but it doesn't do any good getting worked up over rumors proving to be false. Personally, the spreading of rumors are more upsetting than the holdout for Sprint.
Jeez you guys cant read. I never said I was pissed off, I just wanted to discuss the date since there was a confirmed one in Taiwan. Im emailing a mod now to close this. FACK!!
Closed at OP's request.
Today, I kept getting random messages from random numbers, so I called in to block, the rep also had a vibrant. So she was like "So... how do you like the vibrant?"
I'm all like "It's sexy"
But it took her so long to solve my problems, so I asked about random stuff like "Do you know when Froyo is coming out?"
She was a pretty "SMART TECH" you don't see those much on help lines now do you?
She replies: Let me check on that for you
and then she came back on and said "it won't be anytime soon, because if it is anytime soon, the tech supports usually knows weeks or months beforehand, but right now, it says 'to be determined'"
SO, do you guys it'll take as long as the rep said?
Unfortunately, this still fell into the same "He Said She Said" category, until we get an official statement, it's all moot. She may be smart but she is still a rep and I doubt she will have access to OTA information. She most likely turned around and asked her best friend/co-worker who is a tech, and he replied that he didn't know anything, and she passes that onto you.
I think she's right. We already know that froyo would come by the end of the year according to the galaxy s twitter. I expect it to come around December 29. Am I so pessimistic?

No, I believe you are pretty optimistic. End of December...well..
same here. I read the same thing in a tech online magazine.. they actually said 2011 but no precise date..
Im running the unofficial TMO froyo posted in this forum though and I like it
Cheers
Personally, I think Samsung should just give up and hand over the kernel source, maybe keep some respect.
The Unoffical Official T-MO Froyo ROM is in the Development section. If that is actually the real thing (and I completely believe it is) I don't see what the delay is for them to just release it.
Even when it does come out, I know for myself that I will keep a custom ROM. Why have stock when you can rock!
I think the point for all of us that are running one of the leaked 2.2 roms is that an official release will have more of the bugs ironed out and it will help with some of the compatibility issues. I for one have tried all flavors and each has a quirk or two. The good thing is that when 2.2 finally drops officially the devs will have almost perfected their roms and it will be easier to implement any changes made by Tmobile.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I agree with the previous post. I think Samsung leaked the ROM so that the devs here could get their hands on it and make fixes that they then can implement into the official ROM.
So it wouldn't be so embarrasing on Samsung's part? x) Something big like a software update isn't too "easily" leaked. So I do sort of have to agree too.
we all know its going to happen but how soon till we see the leaks
Leaks? It's already officially out. Nexus One's are receiving the update as we speak. As for an EVO specific leak from HTC/Sprint, who knows..I'm sure the devs will have something out soon if there aren't any major hardware changes / requirements.
SDK is out NOT a working rom its no "leaked" pushed yet to the nexus 1
This update sucks for me if it doesn't fix the CPU problem of almost maxing out when scrolling which causes scrolling to be laggy. If they don't fix this by the time my next upgrade comes up I'm switching to a Windows phone. I want a smooth interface.

I guess I'm not following.
According to Engadget, Gingerbread, 2.3, is running on Nexus One's. They've received the OTA update.
Although, they may have been wrong and pulled the article and didn't say anything, since
http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/06/android-2-3-update-now-rolling-out-to-nexus-one-owners/
no longer appears to be a valid link, but it was just a half hour ago.
I think this is what it said:
Nexus One owners feeling a little Nexus S envy can breathe a little easier -- we're hearing that Android 2,3 Gingerbread is being pushed out to the N1 as we speak. We'd imagine that all the slick new features that don't require new hardware (like NFC support) will be there, and we're definitely interested in playing with this built-in WiFi calling stack.

the latest ota pushed to the nexus was just a minor update i don't think it was 2.3

That might have been an old link where the nexus one got a security update and people jumped the gun on calling gingerbread
Looks like Engadget was wrong and pulled the story. Nobody can confirm that 2.3 is out it seems, though some have tried to get their N1's to update.
Way to go Engadget, wrong information with no clarification. At least post a "Oops, we were wrong" update or something.
The N1 forums are saying it will be out on/around the 16th.
Edit:
Think they heard me:
Update: Looks like our flood of tips came from people who were seeing their N1s get a different, less-interesting update -- we'll let you know when the actual 2.3 update roll out. Ah, the heady optimism of hope.

One of the main guys on the Android team tweeted that no ota was released for the nexus one and that the source would be released in the "coming weeks". My bet is that the first rom with working Gingerbread on it will be Cyanogen and within a few weeks of the source being released.

Yup, for our EVOs CM is the best bet and that will be AFTER the source (not to be confused with the Nexus One OTA) is released.

Any sense rom will have to wait till a 2.3 gingerbread source is released by HTC which could be a while, if ever. Cyanogen is already on 2.35.9 kernel which hopefully means that porting their work to 2.3 shouldn't be that hard to do.

Do not ask when Gingerbread will make it to the EVO.
Seriously, how the hell would any of us know? We're not psychics, we're not secret HTC/Sprint/Google/CIA/Mafia/Former KGB/NSA employees, we can't predict the future, so why on God's green Earth would you ask us?
Shut up, sit down, twiddle your thumbs, and wait for a press release from Sprint, HTC, Google, etc. announcing that Gingerbread will or will not be ported to the EVO. If you really want Gingerbread, go help Team Douche port it to be CyanogenMod 7. That's the most guaranteed way to get it to our phones.

Not sure if there's any confusion with what I think I read from your post but.. I'm talking about the AOSP source not the HTC source. That'll probably take a month or so after the Nexus One OTA to be released and then another month or so before CM releases a RC of CM7/2.3.

windows phone? are you on crack?
I'm guessing you won't see a Sprint/HTC Gingerbread ROM until sometime next year. Rumor has the source code being released when the Nexus S ships which is allegedly on Dec 16. Expect AOSP based Gingerbread ROMs to start rolling out around then and an Official Sprint ROM after sometime well after that, after its been thoroughly QA'd.
I would really love to have Omni on my OnePlus One. Any chance of xplodwild getting/wanting a device? I imagine the Omni team has had the opportunity to get the device but in the off chance that they haven't, I have an invite for the sake of development.

I already let an invite lapse. OnePlus has been lying and spouting bull**** for way too long, I'm not sending them my money and I'm not really motivated to spend any time on them either. I MIGHT update my hackpatch this weekend to support the possibility of doing a blind build. Most of the rest of the Omni team feel the same way at this point.
Graffixnyc did a few builds for find7op with my hackpatch but I think he sold his device.
The good news is that the find7op is 95%+ identical to the find7a, so it's not TOO hard for someone who knows what they're doing and actually wants to bother with it to support the find7op. Problem has been lack of people who both know what they're doing and want to screw around with OnePlus these days. If it weren't for this commonality (which OnePlus consistently lies about on a regular basis...) the find7op would probably be dead in the water with Omni.
There's some dude who is interesting in taking a crack at being maintainer, but he's on a long vacation (lucky Europeans!) until September.
Although this post is old I just wanted to say that I'd like to try omnirom but if it was official I'd feel better than some dude test and try(blindly)
We have the phone, ok 1+1 lies a lot* but now it's a bit late I think + I couldn't stay with my DHD any longer ...so much lag answering simple calls I was forced to move
*They promised us lolipop with CM12s and OxygenOS(official vanilla rom) in fed 12, now it's in march for no reason who knows if these roms are ready by march
CM was suppose to deliver first in late of jan, then first days of feb, then 12th of feb now march ...they seem to be scrwng with us in regular bases
I'll take a crack at this, I happen to like blind-builds and have a lot of experience with doing things this way; my resume is in my sig
Edit: I'll go for a source-built but if I'm unable to do this I can surely fork it onto your stock ROM

OnePlus is find7op as far as Omni goes
We had nightlies for it with 4.4 and it'll get brought back with 5.0 - we're just behind schedule for 5.0 across the board for a variety of reasons. Starting this week I should have more time for Omni and one of the other core team should be getting more free time in the next few weeks, so we'll hopefully get caught up soon.

First off let me say I Do Not intend for this to be another whine thread....
Just wanted to reach out and see if anyone has had any signs of an update. I recall from one of the previous now closed threads started one user mentioned the 5th as being a possible date. Though seemingly arbitrary date the 5th is here.
People chime in if you get the notification!
Nothing for me yet.
It probably won't come out until the new Google phones do. I know it's difficult for flashaholics, but be patient.
Now I'm waiting for the September security update for Marshmallow, maybe it will be late too. They seem to be in a huge work.
This thread is the best sign.

That's what intended mine to be, but it went south so fast! Lol no sign for me yet, I'm hoping maybe by tonight. It's REALLY behind said release date. Staying optimistic!
This is the only sign from Google I have seen.
Absolutely notting here. Not even the sept security update.
There will be a September in 2017,too
If I'm remembering the same post, a user speculated that the update would be tied to the September monthly security update. That seemed like pure speculation. I hope the updates are posted soon but I don't think today will be the day, since it is already the afternoon and a business holiday. Hope I'm wrong!
Hope it's soon.

Maybe tomorrow then, I forgot it was a holiday. What gets me is how they got everyone all riled up that it was gonna be in August, and it's gonna be out at the same time haha
Yeah Im ready for the official build too, this NPD90G preview wants me to want more, or at least some minor fixes.
No updates.............there will be speculations.
No speculations.....probably updates.
From what I've heard Qualcomm needs to do some driver upgrades for full Android N Support. If that is the case, it would explain why Google hasn't released the update yet, they simply can't until Qualcomm delivers. I can imagine Qualcomm has their hands full at the moment with all the smartphone companies out their requesting driver updates to support Android N as well.
I don't have any references for this, as I read it in a post somewhere but don't remember where. Don't take my word for it. But of course it would be interesting if someone could confirm or deny this.
I don't expect the update any time soon, but at least the latest beta runs very smoothly on my device. Can't complain at the moment.
Thats what has confused me DP5 runs well so id have thought it was near release quality but I guess not with the update taking so long. As far as qualcomm surely google should be the highest priority for drivers/updates given that they build the entire base that all other android phones base off? So an N driver for a specific SoC should work for all devices using that SoC?
I'm pretty satisfied with the Uber N ROM as is.
What @onemandivision said is correct, driver updates are critical. It's not just the kernel and the android base.
I'm a little confused by the delay though since it is already clear that phones on chips older than snapdragon 800/801 won't get nougat (ie 65-70% of all android phones according to some surveys), so there should be very few drivers to update/fine tune? Am I wrong?
