Battery drain, Bluetooth, help - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone , my AT&T LgG2 is running 4.4.2 and my battery life has been pretty poor. Blue tooth is always on even though the switch is off . I tried a factory reset 2 times and it wouldn't change. Also my battery is drain much faster that on 4.4.2. I can't run any wakelock detectors because I can't root my device and frankly don't understand Most of this rooting stuff.
I installed greenify but that app is limited due to non root mode . any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've also noticed that my ram is always above 1 gig. And I normally have about 500-600 free. This seems excessively high. I've tried using task killers and they say they have freed 100-300,MB but a few moments later the same thing happens .

i am using even modify stock rom without bloatware

I've just upgrade to 4.4.2 today, and I have same problem with bluetooth. But on mine, it dont eat battery too much like you. On my phone, when I turned off bluetooth, it still use 7% battery. I am very curious about the reason of this, too.

Few thread about are saying this isn't an actual drain but a miss read of stats because of kitkat.
Sent from my LG-D802 using xda app-developers app

Bluetooth isn't actually on; it's a bug in the stats reader. It doesn't cause actual drain.
For me, battery is better on KK. If you have extra drain, I don't think it's because of the update.
Furthermore, your RAM usage seems normal. Modern OSes cache certain things into RAM to make things go faster. That's what RAM is for. Less used RAM != faster phone. It will automatically clear up cache to make room for other apps as needed. This is why I do not recommend task killers.

If its not actually on why does the stat always change like its been running.? Also as for the ram it starts hitting 500 and the phone star s to crawl. Its not killing things on its own. It just seems odd that the is is using a gigs worth of ram when I have nothing I use on. At least with a rood I could freeze all the bloat.
I'm waiting for a simple root because when I start reading the ones available I get all lost in this tool that tool this firmware that blah

Any fixes? Bluetooth i s going crazy after KitKat update on my G2 too! Seriously, battery has gone from awesome to 'just good'.comparing to bluetooth, WiFi battery usage is negligible (low 0-1%)

Everyone uses their phone differently. So with my light usuage I still have not seen this battery life since eclair. I have 2 email accounts set to push and had some texts, emails, browsing the web and rss feeds. This went through 2 over nites so far that's also why lighter usuage but radio was on and was on wifi most of the time. Any other rom with the same usuage woulda gotten me 24 hours. Stock 1500mah battery. I still had 40% when I took these screen caps. This rom is clean gb mtd. I think its awesome. Thanks toad...... ;-)

He's on touchwiz its all display really not android system its sad that he thinks that android system 42% is normal but on aosp its correct android shouldn't be over 10%... and the display should have been the highest other than cell signal...

"Android System" is really CIQ. Open it in "running services" if you don't believe me and read it's description. I don't have a "noCIQ" Rom yet, but whenever I change towers or go in and out of airplane mode or reboot, I go into running services and kill Android System service.

K0nane removed CIQ. Android system is reporting everything going through the OS. It was listed as Display on Froyo. It is meaningless either way unless it is still 90% after several hours of standby, then it is a wakelock issue.

[Q] Improve Benchmark Results

Just did a benchmark test on my LG G2 and the results are a bit disappointing. I found a post with tips on improving the Galaxy Ace [GT-5830]AnTuTu Benchmark results discuss here how to improve our devices .
Lest make this a post to improve our LG G2 devices.
I will let my phone be the ginny pig since I see my phone as such a disappointment.
Whatever tips you post. I will do on my phone and then post an update of the results after I done the update.
This way, others can see where the phone improves most and can decide for themselves what changes they should make on theirs to have the results they want.

Make sure you reboot to clear all background processes and let the phone sit truly idle for half an hour or so to make sure it's not going to throttle from heat. Unplug, too. Charging generates heat.

Ok, first I'll let it charge to 100% then I'll reboot it and erase all notifactions. Then let it sit for an hour while I eat dinner. And come back to run the benchmark and update the post. We'll see how much of a difference that makes.
Don't be afraid to run it a couple times back to back. Not sure how true it is anymore, but years ago when 2.0(?) debuted JIT and dalvik cache, people were saying that results improved as the cache and kernel "learned" or improved pre-fetch or some-such. I'm not that deep into it to confirm or deny but I just ran AnTuTu four times back to back and each run improved over the previous. 28k, 30k, 32k, and finally 34k...so the same still seems to hold true.
I let it charge to full capacity through the Battery Doctor app by KS Mobile. I like that app for 2 reasons. 1, cause it tells you how much time til it finishes charging. And 2 cause it has easy access to the battery saving options.
So anyway... after I charged it. I restarted it. Then let it sit for an hour. I ate dinner and started watching a movie.
I restarted it again. Acknowledged and deleted all notifications. Restarted again. And then ran the Antutu Benchmark app again. Then I got the results in this picture.
SEE FIRST ATTATCHMENT
and as I'm typing, I'm running it again.. and the RESULTS BECAME LOWER
SEE SECOND ATTATCHMENT
now... my question is.. how do we keep the G2 running at max performance at all times? not just right after a restart? cause logically after a restart other apps will start running in the background.. even without being in the notifications tray.. is there an app that blocks other apps from running in the background, and only lets them run if you open the app yourself? or is that an idea for someone to create an app like that.. instead of a simple task killer app.. an app that prevents other apps from starting up in the background.. get it ?
Are you unhappy with the subjective performance of the device? Chasing benchmark numbers never ends...

I posted exactly the same thing as I have here.. and already two other people are showing better stats than the Note 3.
So I figure there has to be a way to push my phone to its max potential.. I want to know how to do it.
Its only logical to want to get the most out of a phone no matter which one it is.. we all pay a substantial price for them, right?
Gotcha. Wait until the developer kernels start popping up. Combine with AOSP and profit. I have no doubt that all the LG overhear, even without the obvious bloatware, is holding us back significantly.
I'm benching above the N3 and just running Malladus one.one.seven...
I dont get it.. I just woke up.. tossed aside the notifications.. and ran the benchmark.. to my surprise its showing over 34k..

[Q] KitKat battery usage way up

I have read where the KitKat upgrade for the G2 is supposed to add speed and increase battery life even further. For me however it seems its the opposite. I have had way worse battery life since installing (pc lg tool) the KitKat update. I was going all day with anywhere from 40 - 30% left when it was finally plugged in for the night, now I am lucky if I make it to the end of the night. At first I thought perhaps it was just in need of a reboot, but I have done that several times since installation and battery times are still worse. What I don't understand is the battery meter says "System" is to blame for 53% cpu time. Before screen time was my number one battery drain, now its just from being on?.... I don't get it.. Anyone else having this issue, or can shed some light?

That's just it, i haven't done anything different. It can't be an app because i haven't installed anything since the upgrade. What bothers me is it seems to be a system process that's causing it.

Location settings/reporting/Google Now on?
Pocket Mode
Not sure if it is something generic across KitKat or if it is specific to my ROM but pocket mode was killing my battery since it was constantly powering my proximity sensors looking for light to unlock the screen.

I provided the path above, like I said though not sure if it is specific to the ROM i'm on(PA 4.4.2) or not. It the only real exposure to kitkat that I've had. If it isn't a default kitkat thing i apologize if I got your hopes up. I will say this though, if it is don't get your hopes up. It's rather annoying and a massive battery drain. With it on my phone acted like it had half the battery it does.
I don't have location settings turned on, so google now shows unavailable for location, also I don't have security turned on, so I have no security lock screen notification settings that I could find... I'm assuming this is only on if you are using pin, or pattern lock. Thanks for the suggestions tho... I'm going to keep monitoring it and see how it goes. So far today it seems to have normalized, Android System is only showing 2%, which is more like it.
I'm on Official LG Stock KK and to be truthful the battery life has been pretty bad. Like not really comparable to 4.2.2 and definitely not comparable to vanilla Android(of course). What's the issue? Anyone know?

Generally though if Android OS is higher than your screen on time then you have a wakelock issue. I know without root it'll be a little harder to fix the issue at hand though.
I'd at least look into WiFi settings and turn Always Allow Scanning to Off. Then maybe look at your GPS settings and try the battery friendly mode or GPS only mode. I also don't allow Google to use your WiFi for better location results. There have been similar bugs reported with 4.4 here is some info and afew people trying to squash the issue on a Nexus http://www.reddit.com/r/Nexus5/comments/1y96zm/battery_drain_caused_by_android_os_possible/

You also have to remember how much Samsung based apps are running in the background at all times. Figure the pedometer in S-Health, any kind of airview, or S-This S-That when the phone is on. That is probably part of the cause. I do say i see it too but i wouldnt say my battery is exactly bad because of it.

Thank you for those tips! I didn't know about that wifi one. I immediately unchecked always scanning. I keep my wifi on to make sure I use wifi, if available, but I don't need it always scanning. I hesitated on the gps switch, but I figured I'll try it on power saver and see what happens.
Edit:
After turning off wifi scanning, that's what I got. That looks better to me. Although my usage time is lower than my previous screenshot, I started my day at 90% (forgot to charge last night, and that's as high as I could get it before leaving for work), and I'm using my phone more today.

There's another thread on this. It's happening to a lot of people, including me.

[Got what i needed..thanks!]Looking for a helper for about a half hour.

Used to have a one plus one. I jump phones so I left. Hey...its what I do. What I am hoping for is to prove a point on why my one plus one got way better battery life then my G3 does. Virtually the same specs. Same carrier...same apps. Now. Here is where someone with a 1+1 comes in. Using this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.iattilagy.usemon you can monitor the GPU usage if you scroll down a bit. Would prefer a relatively stock like setup. It doesn't even require root. Just run this app for about a half hour using no games or anything just oh idk. Texting, hangouts, Tapatalk, no gaming. I want to see what the GPU freq it runs at most often in that 30 min. Then snap a screen shot and PM or post it here.
Hopefully someone will help me out with this.

Also, any particular reason you jumped to the G3?
EDIT: I run a very stock setup , running CM12 nightlies. No background apps like skype or whatever, either. Should be perfect for a comparison.

Perfect! Not really any particular reason besides same specs and slightly smaller bezel. Never figured the difference would be night and day. 1+1 wins in my book.
G3 battery life is horrid imho. I got 7-8hrs screen on almost daily. With he g3 only about 3 give or take. Got a 9000 mah battery now. Things a brick but I get 11-12 hrs screen on. Its sad. With this battery and my old 1+1 I'd feel comfortable in saying 20hrs screen on min probably 24

Yep the GPUs are working about the same. Has to be the screen it self that makes it such a hog whether it be the QHD since they both IPS displays.
