Dear All,
I bought Samsung XCOVER2 GT-S7710L in US , and take it to Indonesia , but for mobile data network it can NOT pick up any 3G signal ( UTMS nor HSDPA ) , it can only pick up EDGE (2G), I have tried 2 different SIM card from different operator ( www,xl.co.id and telkomsel.com ).
When I force the phone to work on "WCDMA only " it seems can NOT sniff the network even though I am very sure the area is covered by 3G services as I can pick up the 3G signal using my other android phone.
Here is the detail of the phone :
- Model number : GT-S7710L
- Android Version : 4.1.2
- Baseband Version : S7710LUBAMC1
- Kernel Version :
2.0.31-964172

SMP PREEMPT Tue Mar 5 18:22:53
KST 2013
-Builld number : 54K.JSOS7710LUBAMC1
My apology if this is a "stupid" question but I still can't find out what the problem is , any lead or solution is appreciated , thanks

Two things are possible,
1- Your second SIM tray may not support WCDMA.
2- The bands in your radio is not supporting the WCDMA radio of Indonesia.
Bonus: Your firmware may have been screwed.

Sometimes my network operator disappears till i reboot the device and after the reboot it remains offline for 10 to 45 minutes sometimes hours. so i can't get any calls or messages.
I get also allot of log sounds kinda notifications but none nofifications.
It also has some problems with my wifi on 2,4Ghz and 5,0Ghz to. Sometimes it cuts automatically off and needs to reconnect.
It's not my router it's the Asus rt-ac66u and brand new.

[Q] New N900 has bad signal and "your device has been modified" update error
Hello forum,
I am in the UK using a Virgin sim and my girlfriend bought this phone new in china and flew it over to me. At the moment the signal is really bad wherever I go (the same SIM card in my old galaxy nexus had great signal in all these places) so I was wondering if there was any way to make the signal better?
Also I tried to do an update through the settings menu hoping this would sort out the signal problem and it is giving me the "your device has been modified. no updates available for this device." error even though the phone is new.
the information about the device is as follows:
when I type *#1234# I get:
AP: N900ZSUBMI5
CP:N900XXUBMI2
CSC:N900OZSBMI2
In my "about device" within settings, the following is given:
Model number: SM-N900
Android version: 4.3
Baseband version: N900XXUBMI2
Kernel version: 3.4.39-1625296
[email protected]#1
Wed Sep 11 19:49:31 KST 2013
Build number: JSS15J.N900ZSUBMI5
SELinux status: Enforcing
If I reboot to recover it opens:
CWM-based Recovery v6.0.4.5
Compiled by Xiaolu(20131121)
When I try to check knox I cant see it (I go into odin mode and the top left just says the following):
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
(I now understand the N900 doesn't have knox)
Thanks for looking, any feedback at all would be much appreciated :good:

Well it looks great. At least I can be sure that your phone shouldn't be a fake. It is of Hong Kong or Taiwan origin, Exynos, running 4.3 on N900ZSUBMI5.
You have CWM Recovery, Xiaolu's port of it. Hence that device was probably rooted prior to getting it handed over to your girlfriend. KNOX is only present on the MJ and onward firmwares, and you happen to be on an MI firmware so you don't have it activated yet.
Check the section for Network/Bearer and Wireless Connectivity on this link: http://www.samsung.com/levant/consumer/mobile-phones/mobile-phones/galaxy-note/SM-N9000ZKEXSG-spec
Match it up with your country's network specifications. There's a reason why these phones don't get sold worldwide, as they aren't all compatible with every region. Also remember to set correct APN values for your country.

okay thanks for your reply, I believe the frequencies virgin use are 1800MHz and 2100MHz which can both be used with this phone. The APN settings were downloaded automatically when the phone was first booted and I also manually checked them and they are correct.

What is your network switch options in Settings?
Do you have it to HSPA/GSM (auto connect) set? [Sorry if it's not exactly the same, I don't have the N900 model]
My friend pointed this out to me just before I saw your message, the options available are only wcdma/gsm hspa isn't an option. Im guessing from my limited knowledge that this is the problem, what is it I would need to do to fix this? thanks again.

Actually, I asked my friend who has the N900, he's reporting the same as you. So no problem in that.
There must be something else that can be isolated to find what's going on. You can try to upgrade the phone to the latest modem by flashing the latest 4.4.2 ROM.
Okay, what would be the best way to flash the latest ROM? Would this be a custom ROM or is there a way to get the official one? Thanks again.
Edit: I have now tried putting Dr Ketans rom on it, telling it to use the ROMs modem, and that still didnt fix the problem. I have also tried flashing some other modems from the GSM modems collection thread but the problems persist. The symptoms are as follows:
Frequently looses signal
only ever shows the E or G symbol for mobile internet connection (whereas on my other phone with the same sim it instantly gets full signal and shows H+ or 3G)
the phone has also never been able to lock onto a GPS location it only ever shows searching for GPS in the notifications bar.
Hi guys,
I am sorry if this has already been asked and already been solved.

I am kind of a noob in all of this ?
would really appreciate your help ..

It does not matter. First at all you have to see it in options and set it on. Second is if your provider enabled it to use. Make sure that you have USIM instead regular SIM card fitted to proper size.

I Had The Same.Do This:
using root explorer go to:
system/data/property
using its text editor open the file:
persist.radio.lteon
change from false to true
REBOOT
IT COMES UP AFTER 3 REBOOTS FOR ME
Sorry For The Quote
This is something I deal with about 18 times a day these days... The joys of a provider launching LTE...
What happens is that each csc version has its own file with in it a list of all providercodes followed by a 1 or 0. If set to 0, the LTE option doesn't appear in the interface.
The sneaky buggers disabled the dialer code for manually enabling network mode on the Note 3. So ODIN is the best option.
What you have there is XEF, France. Since Three doesn't appear to use branded firmware, you need to flash BTU over it. (this wont trigger knox if you use the official firmware)

First of all are you on 4g network? If you are rooted, try editing this file /data/property/persist.radio.lteon file, set the content to "true"
good luck
hi guys im a new android user. i bought my i9505 galaxy s4 3 weeks ago and everything is working perfectly except the mobile data. i can only connect to E/G signals with it (which doesnt really do anything because i cant even check emails). its on LTE/3G/WCDMA/GSM(automatically) setting and the APN is the correct settings with the carrier in my country(philippines). i tried my sim on a different i9505 phone and it was able to connect to 4g so i guess the carrier/sim being the problem is ruled out. i have restored to factory settings/rebooted multiple times and am still unsuccessful. the phone's IMEI is not blacklisted or banned and it is intact(dont really know what that means but it shows a long series of numbers and im not really sure its safe to post it here). My carrier also supports the frequencies listed on what the phone has. i have not installed any custom firmwares and have not re installed any official releases.
i would really appreciate it if someone can help me fix this problem. could it be a software problem or a hardware problem(praying it isn't)?
my phone specs are

Hello! First of all I 'd like to thank you for trying to help me. Sorry for my English!! I decided to post here after reading a lot of topics , but I havent found a soluTion .
My girlfriend has a Samsung GT i9505 (S4). For a long time, she noticed that the phone didn't work properly so she decided to brought it to the technical service. When she arrived to home, the phone was not able to connect to WIFI or data networks . No 3G/HSDPA icons on the screen bar. The phone is connected to GSM network but without data.
I have discovered that in the network selection menu, there are several options: " GSM, GSM+WCDMA, GSM+WCDMA+LTE".... but in Spain we dont have WCDMA...WTF! , so I decided to flash I9505XXUHOE3_I9505PHEHOE1_PHE_ (4 + Pit Files)" using ODIN.
Now the phone is able to connect without problems to WIFI networks and the network selection menus shows : GSM, GSM + 3G , GSM + 3G+LTE !!! But it continues without data connection (only GSM)
The APN config is fine
Any ideas?
Thanks a lot!!
