Should I trade a Galaxy Tab 7 for a Xoom?

Someone is offering me to trade my 16GB Galaxy Tab 7 3G/Wifi + cash top of SGD$250
- 1 Year old. Warranty over.
- Physical appearance: 8/10 because of some small scratches on the side. Scratches seen on the screen are on the screen protector.
FOR
his 32GB Xoom 3G/Wifi -
- 5 months old.
- 10/10 condition. Placed in otterbox defender case worth USD 90 and Japanese screen protector worth SGD$69
Opinions? Looking at the development of Xoom, it's not really that active huh. Guys I need some opinions Thanks.

The development of the Xoom isn't that active because the Xoom gets it's updates first, and the source for Honeycomb was never released making Cyanogen-esq projects impossible. Now that ICS's has been released, along with the source, I suspect this will change. But even so, the Xoom doesn't need a huge amount beyond rooting and custom kernels, both of which are active projects.
Regarding the deal your associate wishes to make, it's a damn good one. He's after your decrepit Tab 7 in return for his Xoom, which is a far more capable device. So the only issue is if your cool with going through with a deal which will leave the other party at a disadvantage.

That's an amazing deal...take it. There's great, stable roms for the Xoom Honeycomb OS and Android 4/Ice Cream Sandwich is in active development and is already providing a perfectly suitable daily driver (see my signature). Only camera drivers are missing--need binaries from Motorola.

I'm a galaxy tab owner aswell, and would swap the tab for the xoom anyday.
Why does he want the tab? It's a downgrade for him!

Xoom is definitely better than a Samsung Galaxy Tab, especially considering the hideous abomination that is Touchwiz. However, I think you could find a better deal. I don't know about where you live but where I am a quick search on craigslist yielded several LNIB Xooms for less than $300.
You should be able to sell your Galaxy Tab, and then take the $250 that you were going to pay ontop of it for the trade and buy a brand new Xoom. and still have some money left over.
If you are in an area where it's not easy to find high end electronics for sale on the private market then yeah by all means go ahead with the trade...maybe try to get him down to $200 cash ontop of your Galaxy Tab.
Good luck...and BTW we have a nearly fully functional AOSP ICS rom available to us, what more could you want from our devs?

I think the reason there are few Honeycomb roms (though the ones available are very good and stable) is because Honeycomb source code was never released. It's at the end stage. But ICS is going strong!

Thanks for all the input guys. You guys are right. Having one good and stable rom is better than having many average roms. Thanks for your time guys.

I don't know why Google made the decision to withhold the HC source code. I think they should have released it and let the developers decide on what, if anything, to do with it. At this point, there's no point in working with HC since ICS is out there but still....
I'm not a dev myself. Just stating my thoughts on it.

I hope that your next post here on XDA is made from or at least near your Xoom! As everyone else said, pull the trigger on that trade and don't look back unless you already have...

They decided not to release it, because they knew devs will try to port it to smartphones and it wouldnt work well as its primarily designed for tablets.
Then ICS was to unify them therefore ICS is open source.

I had no other choice,either send my bricked gs2 to service and pay a million or buy me a gs3.

My head is done in over the S3 been waiting since March last year when i first heard about it and nfc etc.

Also preordered it right now hoping for a lot of custom roms

Came here to find out something about rooting SIII but nothing. Bought white SIII few hours back.

We have root for the sgs3 look in the development section.

Yep don't have my phone yet, but the great Chainfire has got root, on dev thread.
I will now be looking at running backtrack on s3, got it working on the Arc, drivers for the s3 might be forthcoming due to the popularity of the s3.

Anyone started working on CM9?

Has anyone started working on getting CM9 running on any of the US versions of the SGS 3 yet?
I have begun working on it, but if someone is already farther along then I, I will let them keep at it, otherwise, I am running headlong into it.
I already have 1 kernel compiled, and prepped for testing, since I just got my phone today, I am not quite ready to start testing this just yet.

I got mine preordered the day before the phone came out online at bestbuy.com. it was mailed to me today from a town 20 miles from me . Even though I hate best buy because I wanted to get a tv a few years ago and they couldn't deliver it 3 times and then I gave up.

I preordered on the 5th, the day before everybody else opened preorders.....yet i'm one of the last to get it. No real solid date yet but i'm hoping it's the 28th as rumored :fingers-crossed:

He was just asking who here plans on purchasing the Note 2 and, although there isn't much point to it, there isn't any need to get offensive. But, back on topic, I will most definitely not be purchasing the Note 2 (regardless of how much of an improvement it is) as I am on 2-year contract that won't allow me to get an upgraded device for another year at least. Besides, the Note does everything I've wanted in a phone, so what point is there in replacing it? As long as I get Jelly Bean, which this device should be getting, I am happy!

I skipped galaxy s 3 for note 2. So I ll be one of the early sparrow.
But somehow I feel like getting my hands on xiaomi phone 2. Its half the price compared to note 2 or S 3.but not available here. So my choice note 2

I'm not buying the note 2 purely because its a waste of cash to upgrade after a year to something slightly better, which I will make no use of...for example, why would I want a quad core phone when my Note runs perfectly fine at 1GHz playing games etc? The battery is a different issue though, I would like the slightly bigger screen size but it won't be that much bigger.
Finally...I won't be buying a Note 2 because there is nothing new in terms of a 'feel good about' factor, just a faster processor and bigger screen will only make me smile for a week or so and then die away ...then what?

No couldn't fix it, sold it for $150 and raised another $350, so for now I have an access to $500 for my new phone account ! ! .
Anyway now that I don't own a Note I don't think I even should be here in this forum anymore.

[Q] Information about buying a UK Nexus 10

Hi all, I just wanted to know if I buy the 32gb nexus from google play store it is the full uk version becuase the price is way higher on ebay-amazon etc for a uk version, is there a reason why google play is so much cheaper? Also i just came from a Onda v972 which suffered from bad firmware and lag/force closes, is the nexus nice and smooth and reasonably error free most of the time and fast? Thanks for the possible help guys

No. Google are selling faulty products hence why they are so cheap. And again, no, google are not choosing to update their own tablets. It's about as smooth as sand paper.

Google Play store prices are almost always the cheapest for Nexus devices. Amazon and the like are using the fact that the 32gb model is always out of stock to push up the prices.
It's a pretty stable product - I've kept away from modding mine (yet!) and have had only one time when I had to reboot it -got stuck trying to change a lockscreen widget. Worked on the second attempt.

Thanks a lot for the reply, i was just wondering why amazon and ebay still sell them so high when stocks are building up in google play. I have seen some great benchmark videos but had soooo much trouble with the so called "powerfull" onda that I wondered if any tab is quick enough.

Can't compare it to other tabs but it makes my Galaxy Nexus look really slow and that's overclocked with custom rom and kernel.

Just received mine today. Delivery was super quick (2 days). I don't know why anyone would buy one from elsewhere except if they get some kind of discount. Great piece of kit. Rooted it and installed Paranoid Android on it already. Works great! Enjoy your new purchase!

I didnt ask if its worth buying one i asked how the performance actually is and why its cheaper on g play so before you spit out sarcastic smart ass comments get them 2 guys off your e-penis and read the screen
