Wife broke my phone so I ordered a "broken" one off Ebay... New one is fine not at all broken... I was going to just swap screens out to keep my unlocked bootloader but the new one is on ics... So noob question 1 will motopocalypse work on 4.0.4 or should I RSD /ota up to .66 or .1? I would like to have an unlocked logic board in case I brick... Noob question 2 once the device is unlocked can I restore a TWRP backup from device "A" to device "B"? As always I thank you kindly for your time and reply...

1. I would run Motopocalypse on Jelly Bean to be safe.
2. Yes. You could restore TWRP backup from device "A" to device "B" (As long as A & B are the same model.)
Thank you kindly for your prompt reply... It's updated rooted unlocked and waiting... Doubt I'll need a spare logic board I may just put it on Ebay..

On the atrix I don't want it unlocked anymore the bootloader so how can it be locked again?
It can't, once unlocked always unlocked. Only thing you can do is flash an sbf to "hide" the unlock text but that is not recommended.

I believe a fuse is burned once you unlock the bootloader and the process is irreversible. Sorry

I had to return my atrix to warenty due to the digitizer. I just pluged my atrix up an ran the software updter from motos website. It remov3d the unlock from my device. It is actually simple to do

I did the same thing this week and sent my phone back to att for a warranty replacement.
That doesn't actually "relock" the device. It just removes the unlocked sign at boot.

Read this. Supposedly, a guy has unlocked a RAZR HD. This MAY also work on similar Motorola devices, ex the RAZR M. Just a quick heads up. Things can only get better from here.

"Today, Dan "Djrbliss" accomplished a feat that was said to be impossible. He exploited Motorola's 256 bit encrypted bootloader for the DROID RAZR M, DROID RAZR HD and Atrix HD. Many have tried all over the world and failed. Dan has proven yet again that he is a force to be reckoned with. We would nothing if it was not for this altruistic man. I tip my hat an say thank you once again for giving us everything that you do."

If I recall, a RSD would erase all evidence of rooting, but the device will remain unlocked until a fast boot command is run. Maybe I can finally fix my phone

I hope so too. Idk why but it boots into fastboot mode every time. I need to manually enter the boot menu and pick normal or whatever. Let's see what happens tomorrow though

I bet we will somehow be able to unlock the root checker and rewrite its code to signify that 0/0 means rooted/once rooted. (Not really but a funny thought.)

And while we're discussing the boot loader exploit, I highly suggest everyone that uses this exploit, if it becomes available, should drop a few dollars to djrbliss. The man gave us root AND a potential bootloader unlock. If you can't, no big deal. He could be facing legal issues judging by Motorola's track records. I'm sure in their eyes he's public enemy no. 1. He's sticking his neck out for our fun, hook him up.

I'm sorta new to the RAZR M still (came from HTC Rezound). Will this be same as S-OFF in a way? Also, will this allow us to replace the recovery on the phone with CWM or TWRP? Pretty exciting news!
Basically, yes. You will have bypassed security enabling you to flash unsigned zips or firmware as well as replace recovery. No in that it may not be reversible as easily if at all.
So, if we want to wait on this and block any OTA updates for now, can that be done without root? I am not ready to void my warranty just yet, and I can imagine Moto pushing an OTA soon to fix this exploit.
Hi all, i just bought nexus 7 yesterday and root it with motochopper. My question, can i unlock the bootloader with toolkit.
Sorry for my bad english and noob question thanks

Hi, deny_kei...
This is a slightly odd question...
If you're rooted via motochopper, why seek to unlock the bootloader? The whole point of motochopper is to avoid unlocking the bootloader.
But, yes, I would suspect you probably can... I have no experience in using toolkits myself.
I would recommend you read up on fastboot and learn how to do it manually with the command fastboot oem unlock.
Not that it probably matters much, given you only bought your Nexus 7 yesterday, but unlocking the bootloader will wipe the device (FACTORY RESET)... which sort of undermines the reason why you rooted with motochopper in the first place...
Rgrds,
Ged.
Thanks sir, its my bad, i was too excited. This is my first android tablet and i wanted to get root acsess so i can use my usb modem. I only read how to root with motochopper hehehe.
So would it be better if i unroot and use the toolkit to unlock the bootloader and root it again. I am really wanted to install custom rom on my nexus..

Ha, yeah... I know what you mean about being excited. New tech has that effect on me as well.
I don't think you need to unroot - although it won't do any harm if you do...
In the SuperSU app, go to the SETTINGS tab and scroll down to FULL UNROOT (Cleanup for permanent unroot)... click on this and press confirm.
I can't help you with the toolkit stuff though... I've only ever used fastboot (and motochopper).
Rgrds,
Ged.

There really was only a very short window of time to unlock the bootloader. Unless you got an M after the update that was still on the original firmware. Almost right after Rosenberg published, Verizon sent out their exploit patch... I really wish Verizon would stop doing this stuff. It makes no sense.

Sent from my XT907 using XDA Free mobile app
This will not likely help much unlocking the bootloader, but it is nice of them to do so promptly to allow the few devs who build ROMs to continue updating with the new kernel.
It will help with our custom ROMs...

KitKat troubles
I purchased two used Razr M's for use on Straight Talk. After using Radiocomm, the phones worked great. My wife updated to KitKat and lost her service. I used Radiocomm on hers and have it running again. I upgraded mine also and now we both screwed. Modem Fast Dormancy Monitor Service error pops up all the time. I watched mine screen come on like a reboot three times yesterday. Before I went to bed, I noticed that I had no service. A reboot and service came back. I sent two emails to Motorola and have no reply as of yet. KitKat runs great, but now I just may have to buy two more phones. I don't see any help coming and would advise people to stay away from these phone unless using on Verizon. I didn't know all the trouble a locked bootloader and not being able to root would cause. I read that it had been implied that Android slow release stages were to cause people to buy new phones for updates. So I guess the KitKat issues I'm facing are the same. Encourage me to buy before my wife skins me alive!
There is a fix for the Modem Fast Dormancy bug but it requires root in order to edit the build.prop and disable it.
Without root, it is possible there maybe a way to disable those functions by editing the NVM, but it will require some considerable work to isolate the NV Items and parameters responsible.
After editing the build.prop the phone performs pretty well under KK for GSM/WCDMA service.
I will try and take a look at the NV dumps and see what I can find. No promises.
OK, back when kit Kat first come out I flashed a updated boot loader and when I rebooted the phone will no longer turn on. All I get is a red light. It seems I had a corrupted file. I can not get into recovery, and it seems I can't get into download mode either.
So here is my question. I read somewhere I can JTAG this phone and that will fix it. I'm unfamiliar with JTAG process so that's why I'm asking here.
Also, is there any other options?

If you tried to flash a bootloader you most likely hard bricked your phone. Do you have a link to what you flashed? If you have to jtag check out mobiletechvideos.com. they've gotten very good reviews.

Yes, I was running PA ROM at the time. Its possible I flashed a boot loader for another phone. Lol it was early in the morning, and it was totally my fault. I'm just looking for a way to save it because its in mint condition, not even a scratch on it.
So if JTAG is the only option, I'll gladly pay for it as long as it will work.
But I was told with JTAG, or motherboard replacement is required to fix what was done.
