looking for a reliable AOSP rom - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I am looking for a reliable AOSP rom. im not tryint to start an arguement about who thinks what is better i appreciate all devs and the work they put into their roms. I just am sick of TW and really want to get back to AOSP but with all of the 4.4.2 roms out now their are a lot of issues are there any roms that you guys recommend? (4.3?) Things that i need are MMS and Netflix. Thanks again. And again not wanting to start any arguments.

Everyone has their own opinions and preferences. And each device is different. It's better for you to try it out yourself and find out which one you like. I believe this thread will be lock any time now.

Should I put CyanogenMod on my Nexus 4?

Hi, I'm new to the rooting/android community and I'm wondering if it is worth it to try out CyanogenMod... What are the pros and con's?
Thanks

More features. Possible* better battery.. There is so much and there's more than CM to try out

Yes.

Yeah, there are more features and probably better performance/battery. You could start out with the RC5 build since it is the most stable and updated build but generally the nightly builds are pretty stable with minor bugs too. Personally, I prefer AOSPA since it has very innovative features that make my phone that much more unique :]
If you don't like it you can flash another Rom or go back to stock. You'll probably end up trying different roms and finding out what you like.

sure man. couldnt hurt to learn a bit about your phone in the process as well
just dont be stuck with cm. its not the only stable rom, and it is definitely not the most stable so dont worry about having to just play it safe with cm.
Try PACman Rom, has Cyanogenmod, AOKP and Paranoid Android, the top 3 roms in my opinion. this way you can see all the features and then flash the rom you like the most or stick to it...whatever floats your boat
Yes

if you are satisfied with stock then No , if you feel some features that you would use are missing then go for it.
as for battery life, from my own experience, stock was the best option for me so far.
Use Carbon instead. Has the features CM has but a lot more. Nav width/height adjustment is a must for me. CM doesnt have that and wont put it in.

New to this device.

So after looking at many of the ROMs there are just so many to choose from I can't decide on what one to install. So instesd of trying them all out I figured I would ask ppl what there favorites are. I'm looking for something that is customizable yet stable. I'm currently on the blue Kuban. Great ROM and mad props to the devs. I just want some opinions on some others that I may want to try out soon with out flashing all of them to find out haha. Thanks everyone.

you should flash sacs rom, very smooth and snappy, no bugs that I've found.
sent from my Galaxy S4 using Tapatalk 2
Is sacs ROM color customizable or is it stock look?
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda premium
Its customizable thanks to 3mint that allows you to change the color of the status bar/icons and the notification toggles.

[Q]Good custom rom for Samsung galaxy S4

I have a samsung galaxy S4 SGH-I337M(canadian version) and im looking for a good rom out there. I whant to have a rom that gives you alot features, that gives the best performance to this devices and runs really smooth. I whant a rom that gives you alot of option's to customize. Can someone give a list of rom's that fit what I whant ?
You might want to try Goldeneye. I like it. It is touchwiz so you get the features of stock but a very nice smooth rom. Just one suggestion. :good:
Check the Dev threads.

Does it run smooth like cyanogenmod or does it lags sometimes like the original touchwiz?

It's not perfect, but it is much better than stock. Try it and if you don't like it you can always go back to cyanogenmod.
Aokp by task it is amazing

Sorry folks, all of the ROMs here are pretty good, it is really up to the user to determine which one works the best.
These threads get closed as users tend to make them arguments about one rom over another.

Suggestions for a ROM? Android 4.4.2

I was on SACS ROM but it wasn't compatible much with ktoonsez kernel.
I went to cyanogenmod and I'm getting 4 hours screen time with ktoonsez, however I like the features of touchwiz and I liked the ui a bit more (when using s5 themed ROMs, I despise old touchwiz),
So I'm looking for a smooth touchwiz ROM android 4.4.2 that is compatible with ktoonsez kernel
I'm currently on NAE modem

Recommendation threads always get shut down because people begin to say "so and so" ROM is the smoothest or the best. When the fact is there is no best ROM. Try out the other TW Roms that catch your attention and if you don't like it you can restore an older ROM you liked.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
Ugh I hope it doesn't, I know there isn't a best ROM, just the fact is that I only found negalite, pacman, sac, and cyanogenmod, and I don't like all of them but I did like sacs, it just had a lot of bugs

XDA is a development site not a support site. As such members are expected to do the research, read through the development threads and decide what is BEST for them. The only results that would be posted here are what each member has found to be BEST for them by experimentation based on their phone/usage/setup/apps/signal strength. Please take the time to read through those development threads to learn all about the software you are about to drastically alter your very expensive device with.
Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation.

Please - do not compare ROMS on here. I know that you have good intentions but it's against the spirit of XDA. Every dev here is doing their best for free and for learning.
The thing is, that how good ROMS are is a subjective matter. I think you should open the original Android subforum and check the various ROMS. There you can also see if a ROM has bugs or if it's stable and draw your very own conclusion!
I hope this helps!

I know "stable" and "best" when it comes to ROM's are always subjective, but I think it's still fair to ask to get a quick general consensus.
To the OP, I'd go with Madhi or SlimKat personally.

Hello
I need suggestion regarding Rom i want stable Rom with not many apps simple not like stock extra appliation
so will you people suggest me to install which confused too may Roms...
There is no such thing as a "best/most stable/... ROM". Just head over to the dev sections, test a few and then decide for yourself
